Hello guys and welcome back to another video. In this video I will show you how to create a Battle Royale Mode for the Free Lyra Starter Game.

I will walk you through step-by-step how to add a Battle Royale Mode to the Lyra Starter game from scratch. I explain all of my blueprints along the way. This tutorial might be hard to follow as a beginner, as the Lyra Starter game is not the most beginner friendly project to work with. I'm actually building a game already - I just implemented swimming (interaction and looting, inventory/storage system, melee and ranged combat also done), and now I am head banging the wall after converting the game to UE5. Things have become a wee bit broken on the animation front (understatement). Basically, I think I fooked up the IK thing!
Now I think I will reboot the project (2nd time), and then implement what I gain from the course with what I have already built.

my approach is different , i created a plane at a position far from origin with some random angle and some distance , rotated towards to origin , and moved the plane , I don't have unreal installed to show the blueprint , ask chatgpt with this as a prompt ,it will guide you well enough .
Need more game mode tutorials like this there so helpful

I followed all the steps up to 13:40, but I couldn't get the lobby to work. The issue is that there are TWO Phase_Warmups... one for the TopDownGame and the other for the ShooterGame. Make sure to choose the ShooterGame version! You can determine this by hovering the mouse over the Phase_Warmup selection.

Great Tutorial. If you want this to work with bots then I suggest adding the eject logic to the B_ScoringBattleRoyale blueprint. Run the logic in a server only event. You can then loop through the LyraCharacter array to move the characters. I've casted to B_Hero_ShooterMannequin and created 2 functions - MoveToLocation and ResetViewTarget. MoveToLocation I call on all LyraCharacters in the game, so the bots move as well. ResetViewTarget I call only on characters where IsPlayerControlled = true. Otherwise UE will crash if you try and set a view target on an AI controller. Because I did the ejection logic in the B_ScoringBattleRoyale, I also created eject delays, one is the initial delay which prevents characters from ejecting immediately, the other is a delay multiplied by the loop counter to stagger the drops over the flight path of the plane. Then I pass the delay to the MoveToLocation as well as the plane reference so I can get the actor position once the delay is up and I now have auto ejecting players spread along the flightpath of the plane.

Been thinking about making my own battle royale game for awhile now
THis is a good tutorial, after a computer crash I am coming back to re-create what I had built. However, I have learned more about Lyra. In the first steps you create the data in the plugins folder, but I think it should be edited or update to show creating the actual Plugins folder for your content at the start. It may not have been in the docs when this was created, but it is a lot easier to understand how the plugins system works in Lyra. Once created, just keep your content inside YOUR plugin folders.

what can cause the players not to move into the plane after X second after i start the game?
i put 10 sec delay, and nothing happened - but i can see the plane moving. just without the player - than when i click space its jump from plane.
so the problem is the player does not move into the plane after 10 seconds, they keep staying in ground. i search everything i could but cant find the problem for it

I found problem, please help. I use ue5.3. custome function in Ga_Hero_Death to remove player spawn. SetScore not appear in GA_Hero_Death. I've been point Get Component by class to B_Scorring_BattleRoyale
I'm not able to remove the "ge_pregame_lobby" effect. If I play directly from the map everything works fine. If I run the game through the Lyra front end the "ge_pregame_lobby" effect never gets removed and plane actor doesn't get destroyed. Haven't been able to figure out why.

Hey, Smart Poly: The Plane's not showing up for some reason! Any idea what it could be? I'm following the tutorial, checking the blueprints over and over, but I don't see what it could be. I'm also not getting the "waiting for other players to spawn in" message.

I've been stuck with the plane part starting at the destination point every time. I almost wonder if the plane starts moving before the countown ends for the spawn waiting time. Has anybody else encountered this or have any ideas / leads on where I may look to fix this? Thank you in advance.

I am using default elimination mode of Lyra and there only if host player (who start a game) quit the game ends and match decided works for me but if guest player quit nothing happen but he go to main menu and can join the match again by browse.

at the start you deleted the boots (folowing this tutorial )... well just dont delete the boots ...and i belibe will work
@@MaxStudioCG2023 This causes UE to crash, you need to add some nodes to the blueprints to stop the view being assigned to bots.

Guys i am having a very strange issue, so if i save the map in the upper left corner, after i save it i cannot add blueprints or assets to the map, i mean i can't just open the content drawer and simply put any item inside the game, it says "You may only refference assets from EngineContent, Plugin:LyraExtTool etc. I tried googling the issue but didn't find anything. Thank you.

Thank you for the videos! Could you make a tutorial on how to make distant mountains in UE5? They pop out when I use landscape, and if I increase the streaming distance it takes a hit on performance. The goal is that player will be able to access the mountains they see from a vista-distance, meaning I can't use a background mesh

if anybody got stuck on the "Alt and drag" waypoint at around 24:40 like I did just click the cross looking arrows on the top right of the display screen then alt and drag using the green arrow (for me moving the spawnpoint wasn't the red arrow he used in the tutorial). Similar issue crashing at that place with game controller issue.
I sort of figured it out, I was having issues with the plane spawning in invisible for some reason and there not being a reference for it. I just placed the plane actor BP into the world and got it's reference for the Set View Target with Blend. Appreciate the tutorial! I will keep at it, now that I got past that part.
@@sathwiqreddy1129 Probably not helpful for you now, but for others that experience this. If you have bots in your game, you need to change the code that retrieves the player controller at around 36 minutes into the video. This code assumes its a player (since his demo has no bots) and players usually have playercontrollers whereas bots do not. If you have bots, they will have an invalid lyra player controller and will fail a cast check and throw an exception.
Easy Alternative: Replace the GetLyraPlayerController node with a GetPlayerControllerfromObject and run it through a Cast to LyraPlayerController.
LyraCharacters without a valid LyraPlayerController will be run through the CastFailed path which you can just ignore. You could probably also do a playercontrolled check or a variety of other checks if you do not like this approach. The first alternative worked just fine for me. Good luck.
