      LOL I live right down the street.. These wires won't let us be great! You have to fly like 6 ft or 60 ft over the river to make sure.

      799 vs 1500
      Not worth it..
      And the mavic Air 2 has some features even the autel Evo 2 and mavic 2 pro don't have.. for example 48 megapixel camera, and the new active track 3.0.. actually avoids obstacles during this apass mode BETTER THAN THE EVO 2 AND MAVIC 2 PRO IN HAS A LOT LESS SENSORS!!!
      Does anyone realize that nobody has 4k screens on there phones LET ALONE 8K LOL!!!
      NOT EVEN NFL FOOTBALL BROADCASTS IN 4K YET..
      Social media compression, nobody wants to watch 4K because of the data, the space it takes up on their phone,
      In most social media apps chooses lower-resolution anyways..
      8K is not needed.. we're barely adopting.4k
      Billy doesn't have a 8K TV does he? My guess is no so all these efforts is for not....
      how do people not get this 99% of the people that I'm watching these videos will never notice the difference!!
      One of the most important things in life is to know what matters and what doesn't.. 4K and 8-k doesn't matter to most everybody!!!
      And I love how all the people upgraded their 4K tvs WHEN ALMOST NOTHING IS BROADCASTED IN 4K EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME!!
      They also did AB comparisons of people watching TV with 1080P and 4k..
      SITTING THE NORMAL DISTANCE AWAY WHICH IS BETWEEN 10 AND 12 FT WITH A 65IN TELEVISION ( NOBODY NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE!!! )
      That's why no one notices the difference that watch these videos..
      This also happened recently in the past year when it comes to a b comparisons with with DJI drones.. they did not reveal what drone was doing what video.. NOBODY COULD EVEN TELL THE DIFFERENCE FROM THE PHANTOM 4 AND THE MAVIC PRO.. NOT EVEN THE SO-CALLED EXPERTS MOST OF THEM GOT IT WRONG!!
      the only way they're going to notice a difference is if you invite them over your house and show them side-by-side every nuance.. IT'S JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN
      And nobody ever resumes in to videos to see if there's extra noise lol..
      People don't understand human behavior and waste their time and efforts..
      Video is turning into what audio turned into.
      The best sounding audio has always been wav files and CDs. One in the same..
      They came out with MP3s it doesn't sound as good. But it sounds good enough!! So people adopted MP3.. JUST LIKE MOST PEOPLE ARE ADOPTING 1080P AND 720P..
      It looks good enough, easier to deal with, no buffering, less space
      Professional drone people need to learn who is watching their videos and what social media is about...
      It's totally bizarre how they don't get it

    Hi Billy, 8k is useful for digital zooming. It’s got some value close up and personal for gaming purposes but for normal viewing you would have to sit far too close to even a really big screen TV to benefit from the closely packed pixels, and then you would not be able to see the whole image. IHD is about the practical limit and even then many people can’t apparently tell the difference between that and HD. Bigger pixels and less of them will likely give a much better quality picture with better dynamic range. That’s why the Pro version is ‘only’ 6k. I think other Autel features are far more important. Replaceable camera- ground breaking feature at this price point, long flight time, all round obstacle avoidance, less frequent firmware changes - DJI have far too many of those. It’s a very interesting bit of kit and thank you for showing it. BobUK.

    I owned the Autel Evo II Pro for two weeks before it crashed on its own catastrophically. I am a seasoned pilot with at least 50 hours flying time with DJI drones and about 4-5 with this particular drone. From the beginning the drone didn’t live up to a single standard that the company claims. The 45mph speed is (in my experience under multiple calm conditions) unachievable. The 9km distance they tout, is absolutely false…the best I ever did under optimum conditions in an open field without obstacles was about 4,500-5,000 feet (1.5km). The drone is relatively unstable in flying, I read one comment from a very prominent drone pilot that states it flies like a brick…it does. As much as I don’t like DJI’s practices and money-grubbing, their drones are the best. After my drone disconnected at less than 2,000 feet in a loosely dense urban area with no buildings exceeding 15 floors or so, it proceeded to return to home and fly directly into a building. I have video from the incident as well as a screen shot before it crashed showing the ambient light was quite sufficient. The ambient light in (this downtown) was sufficient enough to see a building several blocks away in the background and recognize exactly which one it was. DO NOT buy their drones, do some research, and despite their claims none of them are remotely true. The battery that came with the drone along with the additional one I purchased are rated at 40 minutes flight time. I understand this is under optimal conditions, but never did either come close to that figure. Each time they were fully charged with less than five charge cycles on them they showed on the app at approximately 33-34 minutes flight time and underperformed each time with less than 2-4mph winds and flying under 22mph. If you want my full review along with conversations with the company, their dodging, and their vague explanations please DM me.

    DJI going to drop Mavic Air 2 4K60fps; something they should have done a long time ago with Mavic Pro 1. Didn’t include it in Mavic Pro 2 and finally getting it with Mavic Air 2. Mavic 3 Pro will likely have that same 6K camera that’s currently sitting in Evo 2. Automatic flight modes will likely be a bit better than Autel, but between poor customer service and geofencing I’m going to be sticking with Autel, Xdynamics and Skydio.

    Great video. Can you place some RAW photos from the drone in a google drive so we can test the quality. I was appreciative of the 8k footage that you put in the drive. • @coloradovideochannel
      @coloradovideochannel Před 4 lety

      Same experience for me. Really helpful to see what it's like handling 8k files. I'd need more processing power, an 8k monitor, more and faster hard drive storage, a faster way to import large files and probably a different editing platform to make the most of 8k, and since most of my work ends up being viewed on a smart phone I doubt it's worth going all in on a new workflow. Still, lots of fun to play with these files and I can tell the basic image quality is very good. I think Billy's right about 6k being the sweet spot in all of this and if that's the case, I might lean toward the 1" sensor version of the Evo II.

      @MeltWithU Před 4 lety

      It’s funny. I’ve been so enamored by just the 4K/60 footage, which looks a lot better than the original Evo’s. I’m guessing because of the higher resolution of the camera, the better camera that lets more light in and the higher bit rate at 120 as opposed to 100 Mb per second. You can definitely tell a difference. But I’ve been so enamored by just getting video footage, that I forgot this thing had such a great photo camera on it, that can print 100 inch wall worth of a picture. I’m going to take mine up tomorrow and get some pictures. I can’t remember if this thing has a panoramic mode. But if it does, that would allow for a 300 inch photo. Something I need. I bought a condo that has a 50’ x 24’ living room. And it has a brick wall along the one side that I have no clue what to do with. I would love to get a panoramic city shot and have it printed either at full size or three 100 inch posters.
      In any case, if I take some tomorrow, I will definitely post some for you. I can’t imagine how good they are going to look. By the way, another feature that nobody has talked about with this camera that wasn’t possible on the original Evo… Manual focus. Which allows for Bokeh Depth a Of Field. Something I don’t remember seeing in my original email, that I’m going to have to look. But I’m pretty sure I would’ve been excited over that. The good thing about it is the setting brings up the focus dial permanently on the screen when you choose, giving you quick full access to it. Which is very handy when taking photos or video on the fly.

    Couple of questions: is there no way to add a display window to see where drone is (with directional orientation) relative to your position? One thing I did notice is you can actually see and read the data at top of screen unlike DJI. (DJ displays white text on sky background which is virtually impossible to read in daylight.) For the life of me I can never read anything on the top of DJ Scream until battery turns red. Also had a flight question: can you fly directly over nonmoving trains? ~ Nice channel!

    Billy, for future flights, when you approach a tower like the electrical transmission tower at 12:14 in this video, keep in mind there are wires that could be coming off at all sides/angles.
    If they are not conducting transmission wires there could be supporting guy wires.
    It would be safer to approach the tower slightly above it then recon around it.

      I noticed the same thing. I don't think it's wind as there's no movement on the water and nothing in the trees on the right... some sort of distortion in the camera or stabilization is my guess.

    Thank you for supplying the videos Billy. My desktop Windows computer can't deal with the 8k files. I tried to bring one of your files into a Premier Pro project using the Ingest thing trying to get it to a 720p files for editing. Media Encoder starts to convert the file, but within a few minutes, Windows starts flashing. Things stop responding, and I have a heck of a time trying to get Media Encode to close down. My computer IS NOT a good video editing machine, but it can handle 4k editing. Machine specs: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; Intel i5 750 @ 2.67GHz; 12GB memory; spin drives (not SSD); NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 video card.
    I KNOW, I KNOW, you're all just salivating at the thought of telling me how stupid I am for even trying the 8k editing. I'm just trying to give some feedback and maybe warn people that they are going to have to have a decent machine to be able to do anything with the 8k files.
    By the way - I also tried to play the raw 8k video on my 4k Sony TV (thinking it might be able to downscale it to 4k) - did not work. It said the files was corrupted or not supported.

    Oh dear, the video quality on your live screen view is not good (and the horizon is not straight). I was looking for an alternative to my Mavic 2 Pro to provide live vision relay to a vision mixer for outdoor sports events, but this clearly isn't going to do the job. I don't know how DJI achieve such a good quality link with Ocusync 2.0, but clearly no one else has cracked it with their own version.

    Autel really hurt themselves with their delays! I was definitely going to get the EVO 2 as I have the EVO 1 and really like it. But now, I am reconsidering my purchase and looking at the DJI Mavic Air 2. If Autel Robotics would have shipped sooner, this would have been a non-issue! I always have the EVO 1 and Anafi to fly if I encounter flight restrictions with the MA2! Also 34 minutes is much closer to Autel’s 40 minutes of flying time!!

    • @kelvin869
      @kelvin869 Před 4 lety

      Mavic Air 2 is more or less at Evo 1 level....why would you choose it over Evo 2? Mavic Air 2 can't do 8k video, doesn't have the flight time or 360 degree oa. I will definitely be getting the Evo 2 Pro.

    • @miltonsmith3114
      @miltonsmith3114 Před 4 lety

      You can’t compare Ocusync 2 to EVO’s transmission system. I have no need of 6K or 8k video. 4K60 is just fine. Price is also a major factor! EVO II Pro with 3 batteries would be double the cost of the MA2 with fly-more package.

    • @miketipton678
      @miketipton678 Před 4 lety +1

      unfortunately the nature of LiPo batteries is that they start to break down internally over time. It doesn't matter how many charge cycles, or how often you flew. TIME is key. Typical battery life is a year before the cells no longer work as well due to internal resistance. Resistance limits current... Higher resistance means the capacity to store charge at full potential voltage is NOT there. The cause for this is basic chemistry of the LiPo itself. Storage is another. Many leave these cases in hot cars or trunks.. NOT a good idea even if you have to. A couple cooler packs and put the battery in a LiPO carrier.
      HEAT is a LiPO killer !! Avoid over heating batteries. Remove from the drone after flight... why? The drone is warm and the bottom of the drone is a heat sink, so that heat rises toward the battery.. making the battery warmer.. Warmer battery means it won't last as long.. Still, time is the battery killer in most cases. Some batteries can have 10 charge cycles a year, yet not even be capable of use after taking the drone out for a flight after a hard winter. That's 4 months or longer most never can restore to the battery.
