Watch the whole Gantz video, and you will have eternal luck.
That's the theory, anyways.
I gotta buy this manga now!
I watched the movie years ago, and I knew it was definitely not all of the story, but I agree that the CGI is actually really good 👍.
Glad someone else appreciates this awesome manga/ anime! i'm always recommending it to people especially round Halloween time

Gantz is truly one of the craziest stories to exist. I definitely need to to do a reread
very crazy
Right
Kei reminds me of Yusuke from Yu-Yu Hakusho
I re read 3 times. Good series.
i did 3 times already i might go again
The Kei clone deserved better. I was surprised he took the reality of his existence so well, I expected a fight to see who the “real” Kei is but he ended up doing a whole lotta good shit for the rest of his run.
I expected that also I'm glad they didn't would have been a waste of time
The real kei could had three girls smh
Probably cause it was an already matured Kei that he could take it better
Plus, being torn between the different girls, kei wanted to be two people anyway.
Izayuh
That would be so cliche. Fighting to find out who the 'real' Kei is? We already know who the real Kei was and so did he.
Buddhist mission was the saddest one imo, just so tragic and depressing
One of my favorite manga arcs ever
Bruh it’s sad because they were very talented too
Nishi is one of the most accurate portrayals of a sociopath I've seen in manga I feel.
word, that classroom scene is f-ed up and the way he just casually nerfed everyone is too painful but you can't look away.
@@JacobJohnson-lh4gx
Yeah. For some reason some people just peg him as a nihilist. He's clearly a sociopath
He’s definitely psychopathic, sociopaths can hid in plan site but Nishi was very clearly warped beyond belief. He killed cats and kept their heads in his closet.
I love seeing how fucked up the kid is because of how messed up he is it's a bit crazy but refreshing
@@Scoring57 Those two things aren't mutually exclusive.
The whole concept of the Manga itself is insanely written. I'll have to watch it again. Great video!
Facts
The only problem I ever had was just the lack of use of the 2 vampire's and Kei's brother. That seems like a slight bit of wasted potential.
@@razavierdavis Are you gay for Jonathan Rogan?
I feel like half this manga takes place in bathrooms.
A world of nothing but bathrooms.
And half the dialogue is just "HAH HAH HAH PANT PANT PANT"
and every chapter cover photo is one of the girls half naked
@@joshuarivero5540 but it got people to read the manga, right?
@@Gravy_Jones22lmao true
The missions carry a weight of despair that in my opinion is almost unparalleled; I always go back to the Buddha and Italian Mission as a reference to this aspect of hopelessness. In the third mission, the tragedy and unnerving trait of it is not so much the high level of body count, but the intimacy of the deaths: even the those who were not developed as characters and could simplistically be called fodder had a close-up moment of pain, confusion, regret, heroism (Kishimoto trying to protect Kato) and or desperation before dying in the most brutal manner imaginable... the Buddha/Kannou Alien mission was intimate slaughterhouse spectacle. Dissolution via acid, instant anti-neurotransmissive dismemberment, devourment, bisection, neck breaking, crushing... all of the most humiliating forms of killing took place in that mission alongside the Italian mission.
I really like Hachiro Oka (think that’s the name) from the Osaka team, that hunter was a beast... his off-panel death corroborates just how despairing the story was.
Italian mission is honestly my fav. Mini arc. It was just pure hell, in a beautiful way. & the fact nobody won, it was an inevitable failure of a mission
@@blazin_hl Good morning Juan! How are you? Forgive me for replying nearly ten days later, CZcams has a habit of not properly notifying people lately. I am not the kind to ignore other fellow human beings, I use the internet for amicable reasons and projections. So, yes I see why you love the Italian Mission. I love it because it redeemed Inaba in a very special way... he never felt loved and felt nihilistically useless but the moment he gained inspiration and felt nurtured by Suzuki's fatal sacrifice, the beast within was something that was as competent of a hunter as Kurono and Kato and Kaze. In fact, he took out an alien sub-boss equivalent in power (possibly) to the Tengu Alien and the latter killed a 400 pointer in the Osaka mission. So it was sadly personal for me to see Inaba die in such a horridly unceremonious way, yet briefly with a lot impact and emotion. Hell this is a man who never trained with the Tokyo Team out of spiteful envy, yet he performed better than the italian hunters he deemed stronger the Osaka members.
@@igormendoncacanga2569 I honestly didn’t like his character cause his reminds me of so many people that make me cringe & was a try-hard, but just cause I didn’t like him doesn’t make him a Bad character. I think it’s complimentary for me not liking him cause he made me feel this way & that’s a win on Oku’s part. Especially with the fact that Oku brought humane interactions/characteristics to a real degree. I loved how they killed him off cause it was waaaaay too unexpected (granted we should already be used to this, lol) after the fact he went against his own fears & fought like f’ng hell til he showed Kurono he grew big a$$ cojones.
And Kurono truly liked him and saw him as a brother (we all know Kurono’s real family were the people e ultimately fought with side by side) to the extent that both he and Kato begged to differ against the God Aliens’ remark on the meaninglessness of human life by rhetorically asking if Inaba’s life wasn’t important! That also shows Kurono’s developMENTAL ontogeny as a character for he too was quite unlikeable. La cosa rica en GANTZ (I speak Portuguese, not Spanish ahaha... just trying to be interactively accommodating) is these characters presenting negatives traits are being negative out of fear which is the foundational reasons why people behave the way they do in real life. People are immaturely afraid of life so they develop these compensatory projections of being try-hards, domineering, hypersexual, confusing apathy for mental fortitude when all it does is dehumanize oneself and others. I for one, don’t like Reika... she was too obsessed with Kurono to the point that she played God and ended up creating an existential issue which plagued the Kei Clone (who turned out more combatively aggressive than the real Kei out of a sense of proving his ontological worth). She could’ve revived either Inaba or Suzuki but instead, she couldn’t overcome what truly was a cathetic obsession. Even Inaba confessed to her at one point in his car that he was willing to be a better person and a more competent fighter just to protect Reika as he tries to realistically persuade he to let go of Kurono’s already in a relationship with Tae (another character I really like lol due to her childlike humanity). This is interesting because there were a lot of hints since the dinosaur mission that suggested this possibility of Inaba and Reika actually being together and then during the Oni Alien mission this became evident with the misleading fatal seduction Inaba was too blind to see through and nearly died as a result (he mentions before “they” copulate that he was going to protect her... he had genuine feelings for Reika unlike with his past girlfriend whom is implied in the dinosaur mission if I recall correctly or in some other source that she was abusive or at least psychologically draining to Inaba, hence him not being too emotionally distraught at the prospect of her death caused by Izumi’s mass shooting rampage. This would add another layer to Inaba’s desperate fit of nihilism minutes before being transferred to Italy. He probably had been used by many people and horribly neglected, so being profound here, after Reika rejecting him, he probably gave up on the sanctity of human relationships and drowned into a much much more cynical worldview of godlessness and how “nobody” cared about him. Little did he know Kurono, Kato, Suzuki held him to a high regard despite his cowardice and not proving anything combatively substantial until his final moments came about).
bruh is Osaka and giant alien civilisation bosses arenas jokes to you?
I read Gantz about a year ago, and I'm so glad I did. I haven't been able to convince anyone else to read it though, but I feel a sense of companionship with those who have. It's kind of like after I read Firepunch I had a similar feeling.
Firepunch was weird but interesting.
YO FIREPUNCH IS AMAZING AND ART
Never heard if Firepunch, what can it be compared to?
This Manga is amazing iv never reread a Manga again but I did 5x
@@ASMRwithWoe I'd compare it to Sailor Moon
Gantz has one of if not the most realistic reactions of how would human react to aliens
"Killlllllll!!"
Every arc in this manga is a masterpiece on its own. Everything that happens in the manga have a reason, also for characters that die at the very beginning of every missions. This manga is perfect, if there is anything to improve it will be "I want more"
Nah not everything has a reason. The insert of vampires seemed really forced, they really had no real impact on the plot (aside for Kuronos brother being a vamp himself ...like wtf?). Then they just abruptly never showed up again (other than Hikawa and other girl vamp watching Kurono battle the giant invader general)after giving some halfbaked explination that they helped aliens against the hunters and nanobots cant really remember. I have more but this would be too long of a comment. Not hating on Gantz, its definitely top 10 manga material but Oku was high af sometimes xD.
I personally disliked the ending. Felt like needless nihilism for needless shock value, and then the author attempting to write a happier ending by the very end.
@@viderevero1338 yeah, the "gods" show all of the sudden up and disappear once again with "well lol we don't care about humanity (,but we give you stuff to defend yourself)" If they would missing, nothing would change. The question where the signal came frome would be left open, but that's one of those question that can be left unanswered. Especially with the hint of the shapeshifting alien of "presence of god" you may make your own theory which would lead to the same answer like the "gods" shown in the manga, although without the unecessary plot dumb, which is kinda confusing. (if they're so almighty why not destroy the giants outright)
@@Hellraiser666eddie I get the feeling that the author wanted to expand the vampire part but few chapters in and it felt really out of place and abruptly end it. The way Akira was introduced I have a feeling that Kei was gonna cross blades with him but author just scrapped the idea.

I re-read Gantz at least once every year. I only do this with my favorite manga like Berserk. It's such a great manga and easily in my top 5 of all time
Dude I love both Gantz and berserk please tell me what your top 5 are
@@Francestoke My top 5 are Chainsaw Man, Fire Punch, Gantz, Slime Tensei, and To Your Eternity
Give Psyren, Getbackers a go too.
@@metalsadman yesss Psyren, even tho it was kinda rushed it was still hella good
Get backers is really good! Definitely worth a read!
As a big fan of the Gantz universe, I must say that this is the best video I've ever seen about it.
Dude, your channel has become one of my favorites on CZcams. You've been doing awesome timelines for some of the best mangas. Thanks, man.
Aye! Hope you enjoy.
Lol, the simp starter channel is has been born
Fun fact:
3:41 Takashi Inamori got 1 Point.
Personally liked the character, it was a potential born hunter, like Kyo, the drug addict from Osaka
23:36 Juzo Togo (the Snipper) got 21 Points.
He used the guns to kill the Rowdy Alien and six of the Smaller Sized Buddhist Temple Aliens
Insane number for a rookie, it was a potential like Nobuo, one of the top hunters from Osaka
(Izumi got 10 points in his first mission (source: Gantz-minus))
31:16 If Kurono managed to beat the last alien, he would obtain an amount of 76 points.
The Italy mission is one of the things i want to see animated the most, not just from Gantz but manga in general, it's such a horrifying scenario i end up wanting to see more.
Damn thing was a total slaughter house, i really want to see those majestic statues, how the big ones attack and move around. You can even see some hunters jumping into the water with Z-Guns goin' full *Leroy Jenkins* on them.
I think the best part about that is that they suddenly find out that there are more Gantz players in the world outside of Japan... And they've all been thrown at this impossible menace in Italy, with most of them already broken and wiped out. It's honestly terrifying af
The Osaka arc was the most stressful, broken, crazy arc of all of Gantz
I swearr bruh😭 shit had me losing hair
@@thestrikeforce8319 how so
Most broken was Italy by miles
@@XelyoGGItaly arc absolutely wins this debate. It was utterly hopeless
@@XelyoGG too bad it was so short. The drama in Osaka is handled so much better tho, there's literally powerscaling from allies, to being outscaled by Nurarihyon by a mile.
My fave manga ever. Just so well executed. It needs a definitive anime adaptation with nuance that adapts everything in it’s entirety.

Back when this was coming out alot of people didn't like Tai and I get why. For me though, she was a pretty important character even if at the end of the day was just a damsel in distress.
There's nothing wrong with the damel in distress trope if done right.
People who don't get it, ignore the emotions and feelings it aims to conjure up.
The way she helped unravel the character of kurono is immeasurable to the series, I agree!
This is one of the most batshit, hype, disgusting, exciting, offensive, intimate, horrific, touching, pornographic and fun pieces of media that I have ever consumed, ever. The ending just needed two more chapters and it would have been unparalleled.
Thank you for making this recap. Allows me to relive the story in a reasonable timeline
A 2 hour long Gantz video, glad I'm subbed to this channel, the effort and quality is top notch. Well done sir and thanks for taking the time to give us great content.
One of the best manga I've read so far. The character development was done nicely and the ending was very good.
To me the ending slightly rushed but I still love the manga
@@dark-lord-vinay it was rushed, iirc, it came back from a very long hiatus, then the pace just became ao fast :/. Still one of the best out there tho.
GANTZ is always the first i recommend everytime i get asked if i knew any good manga, This is such an underrated masterpiece.
I will never understand why this show doesn’t have a big enough fan base to have finished the anime correctly
Its niche. Not a lot of people can digest how gruesome and dark this anime is. Berserker has the same issue alongside other things.
@@bfftv2564 yeah that’s fair, but I mean the same can be said about the original devilman’s, and Devilman cry baby. They were pretty dark, and gruesome especially the 80s one (if I remember correctly), and were fairly popular.
@@billnyesenberg dam bro true but i think Gantz takes the cake. all the sex, gore and there is even some ra p e stuff. At times it gets unnecessarily edgy and wouldn’t get away with it today. These all are part of the reason why I like this anime. Makes it seem more real.
@@bfftv2564 all of that stuff is in devilman too. I’m pretty sure devilman crybaby the newer one which is one of the more tame ones that I’ve seen has like two rape scenes. I mean the first episode literally has them in a giant underground party while half the people are having sex and taking copious amounts of drugs. While one of the main characters starts killing people to summon demons, and literally everyone except for the 2 main characters die. And it was pretty popular when it came out.
But devilman disnt have a ton of grape scenes or a blackface scene lol
I love gantz because of how edgy it is but I see how that turns a ton of people off@@billnyesenberg
Good job bro, I never got to finish this one after the alien attack. Was a fantastic recap of the events. Didn’t know about the other Gantz mangas so that was good too at the end

I'm not even kidding when I say the timing is perfect. Just started watching other gantz reviews and the anime and then this appears. Thanks for being a badass
Gantz is insane , violent and makes me sad but damn does it build up and does pay to a super satisfying series . I love see the character development in Kurono and how much he does care about his team and girlfriend. This is an awesome video btw . Love your explanations
Thank you for this dude absolutely thank you. Gantz is one of the most underrated.
great vid, and great manga !
one thing i always tought about gantz was that a videogame adaptation could be truly great !
You can make one where you create your character, choose your country and region, and play online with people randomly selected by the computer (the game has to select a number of ppl according to the difficulty of the mission just like in the manga). Then you're teleported in the map, you already know the rules but the fun thing would be that there are absolutely no tutorial and so new people would be totally confused. There would be permanent death on your character unless you score 100 points with another of your character and decide to resurrect him. The coolest thing would be that it would greatly expand the number of weapon, vehicles and aliens and if the project could one day be possible, it would be awesome if the original author could design those new elements
Mans had this shit ready

Kei Kurono is amazing
Finished reading it last night. I absolutely loved it, its not the best story I've read but its definitely one of the most entertaining things I've read in a while
How long did it take you to read man?
@@simz2689 well I read the first like 260 chapters in like 4 days but felt burnt out and took like a 2 month break and then finished the rest in like another 2 days.
I finished the manga in 4 days. Truthfully i hated all the characters until the racist part of the story which is called phase 1 of gantz. Phase 2 was definately better with at least 5 good characters and 1 well written female character. Phase 3 alien invasion is in my top 10 arcs of all time just with its godly art and horrific visuals. i read all of the alien invasion in 1 sitting. the complicated character of female alien was god tier imo. great job
I love your channel keep this up please
thank you for your video(s). It doesn't take away reading the manga, yet give me enough information why I should read for myself. Even If I know the story already
Great video as always Tranquil, I started with your Berserk video and instantly subscribed. Gantz is such an underrated manga, it's only known to some people. It's isn't that very well known like Bleach, Naruto etc. cause of the excessive violence, gore, and s3x. But Gantz is big at Spanish and Portugese countries I even joined groups that appreciate Gantz, most of them are Spanish or Portugese. It sucks that Oku Hiroya can't do much with the IP cause Hollywood still has the rights for Gantz, and it'll be a long time before it expires (probably 2025 onwards), he can't create any anime adaptation or movies, Oku only has the manga rights I think. Hopefully it gets fixed soon, I'd love to see a anime remake of the manga, similar to what they did to Blade of The Immortal.
Thank you for reliving in our memories one of the best alien stories we've ever seen!
bro all your hard work is beyond appreciate I've seen both the and for sure the visuals of G-0 amazing anyway thanks so much for this I only wish they would have told the whole thing in CGI your the best bro💪👍✌️
I saw the anime. It was a few years before I actually started reading the manga, but I'm very happy I did. Finished the whole thing in about 3 months.

I remember reading this manga in a book store when i was younger. I didn't understand the plot as a whole, but i still wanted more. Same with Battle Royale.
How make every ship reality? Just clone the protag! I always thought this was funny, but also extremely well done. Too bade the Reika and Kei side didnt receive a happy end.
Story wise gantz was weird and insane. I have no idea why I liked it so much even though it didn’t make much sense.
Thanks ❤
i love this video just so i can come here and refresh my memory with what happened in the manga, but there’s some details that are missing but isn’t a big deal
you the GOAT man !
number 4 on my manga list. Gantz truly is a Masterpiece on its own.
Broo i was just looking for this yesterday lmao
Thank you.
Saw this on my recommendations not disappointed, very few people talk about Gantz I started reading this as it came out when they introduced the vampires all the way to the end. And I gotta tell you I had forgotten some of the crazy shit that went on with this, I remember the 3rd mission, and the mission against Kurono, but I swear I thought the ball said the target was kurono. Maybe they did that in the anime or movie since I've seen those as well. Aside from those 2 instances everything else was murky thanks to your video it jogged all those memories. Such a good story, I'm most definitely re reading this when I get the chance.
that was the animes filler
thansk for your hard work
