    GMC makes a reversing camera and infotainment system standard across the 2018 Sierra 1500 lineup to help it compete with the recently announced 2019 version. GMC’s IntelliLink infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and allows multiple radio channels and smartphone music apps to be setup as separate, easily available presets. Denali trims get heated and ventilated leather front seats and a center console lid with a wireless charging pad.
    The Sierra 1500 offers three engines in four powertrains. A 4.3-liter V6 produces 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque using a 6-speed automatic. A 5.3-liter V8 delivers 355 hp and 383 lb-ft through a standard 6-speed or optional 8-speed automatic, and it can be set up as an eAssist mild hybrid with the same power and improved mileage. The powerhouse is a 6.2-liter V8 that uses the 8-speed automatic to make 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. Capacities range up to 12,500 pounds for towing and 2,250 pounds of payload.

    With a new truck just around the corner, GMC keeps the Sierra 1500 relevant for 2018 with more standard content and safety features.
    Once upon a time trucks were simply instruments of work. They were defined only by their utility and sheer size. But times have changed, and as trucks have become family-hauling vehicles, automakers have endeavored to include more creature comforts in these large vehicles. Heated seats, remote start, and navigation are all common on modern pickups.
    Then there are the luxury trucks. These vehicles have leather seating and automatically extending running boards and many seldom get dirty. Trucks like the Ram 1500 Limited and Ford F-150 Limited and King Ranch all encapsulate this upscale pickup concept. Every year, they get more expensive and more lavish-and people keep buying them! But if you are looking for patient zero of the luxury-truck trend, look no further than the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali.
    The Sierra 1500 is about to be redesigned for 2019, with many new innovations. So what is GMC offering in the current truck to make you consider it over the forthcoming 2019 version? Most notably, GMC sweetens the pot by making the reversing camera and the previously optional infotainment system standard equipment.

    I just test drove a 2018 and 2019 Denali with both having the 6.2L today. The 2018 had the 8 speed and the 2019 had the 10 speed (of course). I found the 2018 out performed the 2019 in every category. Smoother ride, and better visibility because of smaller hood. The 2018 rolled away from a stop very smooth and easily, where the 2019 was somewhat jerky. I prefer the dash in the 2018 far more than the 2019. And I much prefer the looks of the outside of the 2018 as well.
    So, ........ I happily bought the 2018 Denali.

    • @mattjones5175
      @mattjones5175 Před 6 lety

      YES. There's a new body style coming out in FALL, so I think the manufacturer is getting a jump start on selling inventory on their expensive, hard-to-sell models with deep discount rebates. The SLT's are plentiful and sell very well because they're still well-equipped, but without some of the pricier options that the Denali has. The SLT will surely get some deep rebates comparable to the current Denali, but not this month. They will probably come in JULY...try to hold out until then, which is traditionally a huge month for rebates for all manufacturers. You should negotiate a DEALER DISCOUNT between $2k-4k, then take ALL the manufacturer incentives. The next best months traditionally is in December. Or, keep an eye out for the release of the 2019, then make your move for a deal on the 2018.. Keep an eye on the "doc" fee too. This should be less than $100. I've seen people pay $400 for this...it's the dealer's charge, so it's negotiable. I wouldn't pay more than $100...I paid $80 on my truck.

    A HUGE factor that keeps these expensive trucks actually affordable is resale value. Denali Sierras are phenomenal, at least in the South, in this area, especially if you buy at the right time when discounts are big. So unlike buying a $55,000 luxury sedan, or even sport utility, the depreciation cost is about like that of a mainstream car, and that is the biggest cost of ownership, especially for us cash buyers.

    They're asking about $35 more than its worth. They get away with the current ridiculous pricing scheme because of the lease option. They've significantly over-priced the truck, but will let you have it as a lease for half of what it would cost to buy it (and they'll take their "lease fees" up front as instant profit while providing the customer no equity in the truck). People get suckered into this scheme, then when it's time to return the truck at the end of the lease it's worth about what it should have cost to start with and the dealer makes a killing on the resale. The original lessee won't want to pay the purchase price to buy out the rest of the truck's estimated cost, so they go for another lease and the cycle repeats itself. All the while, manufacturing is in Mexico or Canada, costing the manufacturer significantly less than building in the U.S. and massively bolstering their profit margin, while quality continues to fall. The sooner people stop leasing, the more realistic pricing will become, as no one will want to buy these things outright at those prices.

    Just a word of caution - the new 2019 Silverado-Sierra twins can NOT even be ordered or does NOT come with the “power brake and foot pedal” adjuster.... Think about such a large truck without this option....If you have short legs, you have to move up the seat close to the steering wheel, which has an airbag in it.
    This is normally a pretty standard option for most trucks (was in GM, in Ram, & in Ford)...I own a 2017 Silverado, but some “bean counter” within GM axed this very useful feature......why?
