If you’ve been searching for a bed online, chances are you’ve come across the Purple mattress. Featuring a combination of supportive foams and the brand’s special hyper-elastic polymer smart grid (more on that later!), this bad boy is truly unlike anything else on the market.
However, does uniqueness alone make for a comfortable mattress? I won’t know until I put the Purple to the test, seeing how it’s built and how it sleeps so I can figure out if it might just be the bed of your dreams.
Here, you’ll find a nearly 10” structure comprised of three distinct layers: the aforementioned hyper-elastic polymer smart grid as well as two support sections of high-density poly foam. This combination of materials makes for a bouncy yet pressure-relieving structure aimed at providing targeted comfort no matter the position.

My wife and I have had the Purple '.2' queen for about 100 days and
love it and don't find it too firm. After the first 10 days we briefly discussed
switching to the '.3', but after another week we concluded the '.2' is perfect
    - just the right amount of soft and support for us. And it sleeps really cool.
My wife is about 175 lb and I am 190 lb. She is a combo back/side sleeper and I am a
    combo stomach/side sleeper. Before this
bed we've always slept on traditional spring mattresses on the firm side.

I took a chance and actually bought a used (new return under 90 days old) Purple 4 queen mattress from a distributor because I can't afford the new one. You are not supposed to launder the cover but the distributor did wash it on delicate cycle for sanitary reasons. I absolutely love it. I have only slept three nights on it so far but I will tell you that I slept like a rock straight through the night each time. I smile every time I get in it and one of the reasons is that it does remind me of a waterbed. I was actually considering getting a waterbed because it conforms so well to your body but I would not be able to get out of it easy like I need to with me getting older. I had one when I was a young person and it was difficult to get out of then. I love the Purple because it seems to actually assist me when I turn over or roll out of bed. So far so good and glad I took the chance. I figured if it doesn't work for me I would just resell it. Yes, I do not get the warranty but I am okay with that.

I see several people asking about the Oceano mattress so I just thought I would say something about that since I have that as well. After months of research I decided to get the Oceano. It was between that, the Cedar and the Purple. I have slept on the Oceano for 3 months and it is an absolutely fantastic mattress and that is why it is just leaning up against my wall while I try the Purple. If the Purple doesn't work out I am going to keep the Oceano. The reason I decided to try the Purple is because on some nights I have gotten a bit heated up with the Oceano and when that happens you tend to find yourself in a bit of an impression. I have a bad back and can't have anything that will make it difficult to get out of. It isn't as hard to roll over or get out of as the Temperpedic style mattresses are though as I used to have one of those for years. I will say that I have not had any type of aches or pains in the morning after sleeping on the Oceano either as the support of this mattress is great. Brentwood Home is a wonderful company with great customer service. They offer a one year trial with their mattresses which is amazing and speaks to their confidence in their products. I would say that it is a bit on the firm side but not too bad. Maybe a 6 plus to a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. I spoke with them and they sent out the matching 3 inch topper for it and that made it very comfortable then. This also required me using some steps to get into it because I had normal size box springs and with the Oceano and the topper coming in around 19 inches tall it was necessary to do that. I would caution anyone who wants to purchase the Oceano to go directly to them to order because if you go through Amazon you won't get the one year trial period.

  • @shelleybennett-shoreland6442

Purchased the Purple Mattress 2 for my disabled mother along with an adjustable platform 9/19. I'm in love with it, its soft but firm. I like that when I go in and lay down with my mother in the morning before I get her up she does not even feel me get in next to her and then I wind up going to sleep! Also, I don't sink into the bed, I stay on top of it. I weigh about 205 and I'm 5'6 and my mom is about 175. I don't roll over into her. My husband and I have a traditional custom made mattress that is springs and cotton and hand tufted but is just so firm. We want a purple mattress so bad, but its pretty costly and I worry about how long it will hold up?

I've had my purple mattress for about 2 years now and I really love it. I'm a side sleeper and its been great for pressure relief on my shoulders and hips. I feel really supported. The texture of the mattress was really fun at the beginning...definitely different to anything I’ve previously slept on. But it did take me about two weeks to get used to it (I had been sleeping on memory foam and metal spring coils all my life until this mattress) The only part I wish was different was the edge support. I wish it were firmer on the sides to be able to more easily sit at the edges to slip on my shoes/socks/ pants in the morning...still not a deal breaker for me though. I think Purple has made improvements to their mattress edge support since I purchased my mattress back in 2018
Purple is like the cilantro of mattresses...you’ll either absolutely love it or hate it.

@@jac929 Purple has a 100 night free trial so if you don't like the mattress it, you can return it within that time frame, no questions asked for a full refund. I sometimes still wake up with pain in my body but I have learned it is usually repressed emotional energy that is manifesting as physical pain...not due to my mattress or how I'm sleeping on it (For me, its still the best bed I've ever slept on). I use a technique called the Emotion Code to help release this stagnant energy and I usually feel better almost immediately. Maybe look into something like that as well to help you out. Wishing you all the best.

  • @christopherpush4382
    @christopherpush4382 Před 3 lety +1

Uh... sure, yeah you can sleep in it but what about that other metric that no reviewer (none that I've heard anyway) ever mentions... how does it perform during those "intimate" encounters?.
I was ready to buy either this mattress or a tempurpedic but only after trying them. So, I made my way to my local mattress retailer to give them both a try. After trying the tempurpedic which was head and shoulders above any other memory foam mattress I tried, I tried purple. I had determined in advance that if they were at all comparable, I would opt for the more budget friendly purple.
Well, to be direct and to the point the purple mattress is exactly what these two reviews claim. I would add that it's not at all like a water bed but more like laying on a waffle grid made of gummy bears, yup gummy bears. It's really a unique and cool feeling no matter your sleep position. Cradles without being too soft on your side and nestles nicely when laying on your back. It's weird in a good way, a very cool space aged kind of weird. The one draw back and deal breaker for me however was the fact that the same technology that allows point pressure to be neutralized nicely while laying on your side and give support to the greater surface area of the rest of your body, that very same technology causes you to sink and teeter awkwardly when on hands and knees. That means, less leverage, less precision, and less stability during sex. You'll be flopping around like you're on a giant bobble head.
If you were wondering, I ultimately wound up buying an MLILY mattress (a more than fair compromise for the price). This mattress is a very reasonable competitor for the memory foam giant tempurpedic and I love it. An excellent choice for connoisseurs of quality sleep and the fine masterful art of high performance precision love making alike.

Great in depth review. Liked and subscribed. I was hoping you could provide some guidance.
I am a 6'1" male, muscular 200-230lbs combo sleeper (priority side sleeper) with wide shoulders. My current mattress is pretty bad that may be why I'm rolling around. need a new mattress and gravitated to Purple. I've laid on them all at a retailer. the original and 3 seem to be best for me.
From the limited time on each they both seemed to provide me the same result with sightly different feeling (both good) but my fear is after a nights sleep on the original I may bottom out in it. I've read that is a common complaint amongst bigger folks. I don't have such concerns with the purple 3 thanks to the innerspring. I guess what has me indecisive is the extra $1100 price tag, when the original could end up being fine. Do you think I should bite the bullet on the 3 per your testing? I'm also warm to memory foam but I fear getting stuck in the bed if I do need to roll. I'm also warm to hybrids but afraid they won't offer the pressure relief purple or memory foam would offer.
Been in the market for a new mattress and your channel has some of the best in depth analysis I could find. Please keep it up!

I have a Purple 4 King. I have owned it for 7 months. For the first 4 months it was ok. It has gradually gotten worse. I am a side sleeper. What I have found is that my side muscles are hyper extended. I have started to also have pain in my hip but so much in the shoulders. I weigh about 180 lbs and am around 5’9” . Sleeping on my stomach is impossible as my back become over extended,
I really wanted to love this mattress and feel like I wasted a lot of money. I previously had a sleep number mattress. Also a good mattress to start but over time my back felt a lot of pain. The Purple 4 was great to start but it took about 6 months to see the problems in it that is well outside their return policy.

I like both for side sleepers but they are really different mattresses. The Nectar is a classic memory foam feel where you'll be kind of enveloped in the layers. The Purple 4 really allows you to sink in but has much more bounce and mobility to it. Some people might feel the Purple 4 as having a bit of a waterbed feel to it if they don't way enough to really sink into the comfort layer. The Purple 4 sleeps a bit cooler than the Nectar. One thing that can't be overlooked is it price, the Nectar is much less expensive.

Sleepopolis I really really appreciate this thorough response. I just subscribed and thumbs upped a bunch of your videos (least I can do). But after doing a lot of research I am still undecided between 4 mattresses. I currently have the Casper Wave but I find it too firm for my liking, great mattress though.
So I’m 5’0 95lbs, strict side sleeper. I know I don’t weigh enough for a purple, but what is your advice between these options?
      1. Nest Alexander
      2. Brentwood Oceano
      3. New Layla with the added topper
      4. Nolah mattress.
I really do appreciate your expert advice.

@@camerabrah If you find the Casper Wave to be too firm you are starting to get into some reeeeally soft mattresses. I like the list you have here. I have to say I've never reviewed the Oceano so can't speak to it, but the others are good choices. Nest Alexander is probably the closest feel to the Casper Wave, maybe a little softer. The Layla soft side with an added topper would provide a lot of sinkage and instead of the Nolah I would say look at the Nolah Signature. That's probably the softest mattress out of these.

The purple mattress looks like it cost them $40 to make from a mold. They must make a lot of money.

What none of these reviewers tell you is that purple mattress weighs like 200 lb.
God forbid you ever have to move it from one room to another...good luck.

I bought the original purple over a month ago. Nice and cool, but not soft enough... My shoulders hurt. Any suggestions?

If you like the purple feel but want a little softer, is the Purple 3 or 4 on the table for you?

@@Sleepopolis I don't want to spend that much but even more, I heard it collapsed after a while (see reviews on their site) for anyone over 220 and they do not refund because it occurs after the 100 days. I weigh 145 but hubby weighs 245.

@@kamo7434 I saw a video on YT that was something like "How to get urine stains out of memory foam mattress".. the though made my whole body contort in revulsion.... couldn't bring myself to watch it but HOLY GAWD the concept is repulsive.. the thumbnail showed a mattress with massive brown/yellow blotches.. probably simulated for the sake of the vid.. but no.. I just can't :O
