Nice Hardy! One of the better channels out there! Really liked your plans and non selfish ideals for trip to the states. And love the ideas and tutoring you but out in your projects! Thank you!
Thank you dude and I'm not sure I'm not being selfish cause I'd get to go to this States and have loads of fun. But I Don't want a free meal ticket just to join in.
That hot cut is awesome! Nice and thin, the way I like my hot cuts, cuts good. Going to quadstate/hammer classes would be awesome! Shame you weren’t here this year, I helped out with the big striking demo.
I got you covered. The Quad Squad has your back. Whatever you need to make it happen I'll see it gets done. Just get your butt Stateside. We can help with tooling so you don't have to lug so much.
Thanks for the video, it’s great timing I have a 35mm axel cut and ready to start, but after you comment about fish tail shape I am now going to make it square top, the first one i made is fish tail and I struggle to cut a square end when using it, sometime you need someone to point out the obvious!
That would be great if your came over to see us all! Quad State is in Ohio so that would probably be a good area to look for a forge to use for the hammer courses. would really enjoy the opportunity to take a class with you.
I like that style Dan the one I made is the fishtail and I can see what you mean about keeping stuff lined up on there, I struggle with that a little bit but it works good. You can use my shop anytime bro. Not many people live around me though. CZcamsrs 👍👍
Love your design, I agree on the semi round or fish tail design. I have one and find it difficult to line up also. Do you know how much pressure the fly press actually puts out? Thanks
nice to see a very active channel with some great tutorial content!, i heard you say you used forklift tines but what grade would you recommend to use? Also, I've been looking for a good tutorial on how to make a hammer eye punch and struggling to find any that aren't show and no tell, would love it if you could make a good walk through or at least add it to the list of videos to make!
Have you any tips for heat treating the fork tine material, I've a couple of tines here and a pile at my local yard if I want more. I wondered if you had to prevent treat the material before forging ? Enjoyed the video, hope your US trip works out for you. Thanks for uploading. All the best Mat
Thanks Mat and I think there a heat treatment video on tine up already. Think it's the magic metal one. If not let me know and I'll do something about it.
Basically oxy cut it to a reasonable length, get it above critical temperature, and let it anneal in furnace then you can cut with a band saw if required, a friction saw will save you time though.
Great video, I'm looking to make a hot cut hardie tool so its perfectly timed. I noticed you didn't quench the tool, is that not something that is done on any hot type hardie tool? I've not found a local forklift repair place yet, what steel do you suggest i use? I'll miss the hammer making workshop as I'm a stones throw from you in Swansea. Do you have any UK workshop plans? Thanks.
Neil Joseph mild steel would be a waste of your time. The edge would deform each time you used it. Try to get your hands on a drive shaft at the junk yard, it would be perfect for the purpose..
Forgot to ask earlier. The hardie hole on my 1cwt anvil has a slight roll on the top, would that be an issue? Do you have any suggestions on how to clean up the hole? I'm worried about putting too much heat into it using an abrasive to clean it up or should I just take a file to it? Thanks again.
Dan have you made the kind Peter Ross uses, they work really well - www.pbs.org/video/the-woodwrights-shop-field-gate-hinges/ you get to see it @12:57 of the vid.
I am very impressed with your control on the power hammer, bet you could crack an egg with out breaking the yolk, keep up the great videos.
The eyes on the power hammer are always good for a giggle. Thx for sharing the build with us
Better make sure my Land Rover makes it again next year if both Dan and Penny are coming!

Thank you for the great comment.
I like your simple design and instruction. Looks like I need to copy your hotcut design and make one of my own. Thanx for the inspiration.
Best of luck show me some pictures please.
Nice Hotcut !!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a pretty sweet hot cut I would sure....oh wait not a giveaway=-) Really good looking tool! Went thru the steel like butter! Nicely done
Haha nice one dude 😂
nice job on the hot cut and I hope it works out love for you to be a quad state with us next year.
That would be epic let's see if we can make it a thing.
Sweet hotcut 👍 I agree with the flat design I always seem to slip when using a flared hotcut
Like I said, I wouldn't live it down if I turned up next year without you! I hope I can help you with logistics etc. 😊
I want to be placed on the class list. Thanks for video.

Nice one Dan, I do have a curved hot cut and I really like it, just got used to it. Your's cuts nice too well done.
I have been using a fish tail and I don't like. Learned to uses a straight some thing just stick I guess.

Just sent you the specs on two diagonal pein hammers.

If your cutting hot metal the tool doesn't really need heat treatment. You can if you wish.
I do courses dude if you would like and I will be starting more course from a new location very soon.
@@danielmoss2089 Cool, do you have somewhere you publish course availability?
I don't suppose I'd be able to make the hot cut tool out of mild steel?

@@loul7239 Thanks Lou 👍
Hi dan Please can you show me how to make a mini tomahawk axe
I might do one sometime but trying to change the videos up a little. So just tools and maker project for thing you can sell sorry.
Ok that’s fine
