Honda CB500X 10,000km review

- When the only vehicle you own is motorcycle, you have some pretty specific considerations about what you need. Shortly before getting my Honda CB500X last year, I made a list of requirements and considered the purposes I would be using my motorcycle for.
One of the biggest considerations was that I wanted to be able to use the bike for hiking. That meant I needed a bike that could travel on highway speeds to get out of town, as well as ride on unpaved roads to get to the trailhead. I needed a bike that had aftermarket options for luggage to put my hiking boots in, and store my helmet and riding gear while I was on the trail. I wanted to be able to tour long distances and potentially take it across borders, so I needed something comfortable. And I wanted something reliable with a decent sized fuel tank that was good on gas and reasonable for insurance. (In British Columbia we seem to have some of the most expensive vehicle insurance in the world.) I wanted something that wasn’t too flashy or conspicuous, especially in potential situations of traveling abroad, particularly alone as a woman. And lastly, I wanted something that was inexpensive and simple to fix, that didn’t require specialized parts.
Does the CB500X meet my criteria? Sure does.
I would love to hear your thoughts and questions on the Honda CB500X. I'm by no means an expert, especially when it comes to anything mechanical, but I am about as passionate as anyone out there when it comes to life on two wheels.
Thanks for taking the time to watch!

Excellent review Megan, very well presented and full of what everyone will want to know without labouring the points! I would have to say the most useful review I've seen on the bike (including my own...) and I hope it gets the views it deserves (because it will be so helpful) so please go out and tout it around as much social media as you can!
It's also great that you have a fair amount of riding experience under your belt and can show that a bike this size can still appeal to you.
The fuel gauge does have a built in "error" in that it has the same electronic set up as the 13L CBR500r - so instead of having 1/2L in reserve you actually have 4 and 1/2, which is very handy - but good to know.
I did off roading stock for a year or so and have since only changed the tyres and added a bash-plate. For me it does the job well, not great, but well, and I ended up fascinated by just how far the stock bike will go! Almost anywhere a dirt bike will go but at a much more cautious pace, haha!
Great job - all the best and ride safe :)
Hi CaptainCranky, great reply. Love watching your video's too.
@@DollyAndFamilyGetOutAndRide Thanks Dolly :)
Thanks so much for watching, and pointing that out about the 4 and 1/2L reserve. I didn't actually realize that it was a widespread "error", I just thought it was my bike. That is definitely good to know. Thank you! As for the offroading, I would imagine that the bash plate would be a worthwhile upgrade as I bottomed out a few times during my *very* limited off-roading encounters. All the best and safe riding to you as well.
@@MeganKaptein Thanks Megan. Yeah the first time I hit reserve I had arrived at a Town I expected to fill up in and the fuel place was closed! I had to ride a nervous 90-100Km to the next town, then was amazed when i could only get about 14L in!!
Never got down to the gas indicator to be flashing. Usually get to last line.
I think the Dutch lady, who has traveled a lot on Enfields, ended up with one of these Honda CBX 500 bikes and really loves it.
Yep she sure did she back in south America with it as we speak,,,, and now she's headed to Alaska on it ,,,, great channel itchy boots,,,,,,
Noraly💜
That Dutch lady now rides a Honda CFR 300 after riding a 250 CL.. CBX500 was a bit heavy riding off road where dropping a bike is a lot more frequent..
Itchy Boots?
@@Lavaman3682 😄
I would say that is a Fantastic looking bike. Also excellent Review, covered all points well.
Good for you girl, ride safe!
Loved mine.
Changed the sprocket on back for more mpg as its longer legged
Hi, what do you change it to? How much gas does it save?
Lovely scenery, I have a CBF500 ABS and love it. I have had it 15 years and no breakdown only had to service and replace tyres, safe travels. 👍🇬🇧
Thank you!
I’ve absolutely no intension of buying this bike nor any other, I just clicked on it and really enjoyed it. Cheers 😂
Fair enough! Thanks for watching. 😂
Thank you for your informative chat, I'm too short. Thank you, Megan. After gear has been obtained, intend to start looking, for the model As in 2021intend visiting Scotland.meeting up with some vloggers on the way. Cheers
Thank you for the long term review. So many people review bikes withing minutes of getting them, and this long term review was/is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Tim! I’m happy to provide value in that way.
Great review, which got you a new subscriber. You are a rare human being: no bullshit, no bragging, no dumb comments, just useful and informative feedback presented in an interesting, intelligent and totally charming way.
Thank you Megan. Ride safe.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words. It's very encouraging to know that my content is so well received.
Always nice to hear objective reviews from actual owners.Nice review, thank you, and safe journeys!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching, Brian!
Cant Go Wrong With A Honda Nice Review 👍
I'm also a female rider & own a 2018 CB500X! :)
I love it, I have a 2018 CRF 250L Rally Enduro as well.
Nice to meet you, Violet! Hope to see some videos of your adventures in the future.
Hey Violet....how do you like your Rally? Any regrets on it? I’m seriously thinking of one after a couple years away from riding..
Violet if you don’t mind my asking how tall are you. We are looking for a bike for my wife. She is 5-6.
@@SteveWKk Really depends on your uses, i had one for a couple years and I did love it but the lack of offroad trails made me sell it. It's not too easy in the city because in terms of dimension its large, the extra wind protection is good but on highway etc its not too satisfying as its only a 250, although i believe, people emphasize CC too much and a 250 is all you need. If you love the rally look, definitely, go for it. Personally, after having one I'd probably swing for the regular L, still a close call - the extra suspension travel and tank capacity is nice. Any questions I'll answer.
I love the Rally, it's a great 250cc dual sport. I've owned a KLX 250S & I prefer the Rally over the KLX 250S!
I'm 5ft11 so 6ft in shoes, I'm taller than most women so I might not be the best comparison compared to most women.
Glad to see another great review on this bike. When it was time to buy a new one for myself I was debating between this and the Versys X300. The CB500X was super comfortable as soon as I swung a let over the saddle. But ultimately I went with the X300 due to it's lighter weight and spoke wheels. I still want a CB500X, though... it was just much more comfortable. LOL. Eventually I'll upgrade! Thanks again for the great review.
So there was a motorcycle in this video
Very nice and right description of an nearly perfect allrounder. Greetings from Vienna, Austria
Loved your review! You have some serous camera and editing skills imo, and are a great visual story teller. Thanks for sharing. Jan.
Thanks Jan! I sincerely appreciate the compliment, and I'm working on developing my skills (both riding and editing) every day!
Great review, I respect the fact you ride year-round in Canada, that is truly amazing.
Only in Vancouver! Doubtful it would be possible anywhere else.
I've ridden a Buell in 30F degree weather, without a great windscreen, no heated grips or seat, I did have decent gloves, jacket, and had fleece lined gortex chaps, it was not particularly uncomfortable but less than an hour ride. I am not sure I would ride longer without some of the above mentioned items, I believe, are must-haves for "mild" winter riding. Kudos to you , nice to ride year round.
What a breath of fresh air review. 400km to a tank is amazing, on my old bike the warning lights comes on at 180km. Great review thanks.
Thanks for watching, Terry!
I also have a 2015 CB 500x here in Brazil. It is practically the same as cb500x 2013. I really enjoyed your review. Great. Continue with this motorcycle. Do not change, you are the symbol of the cb 500x in the world. Keep enjoying your beautiful country and your beautiful motorcycle.
Thanks Jeferson. Ride safe!
I have a 2015 CB500F, which is almost the same. This review is very well done and I agree with pretty much everything you said. I have 20,000 miles (32,000 km) on mine, mostly from commuting. I haven’t had many issues. I had to change my fork seals and my chain, but that’s it so far. I’ve checked the valves at the recommended intervals and they’ve always been within range. I trust it more than any car I’ve ever had. Like you said, the motorcycle is easy on the wallet and simply gets the job done. It’s not the fastest or sexiest, but it is somewhat rare so it does sort of feel special in that regard. I added heated grips, a wind screen, and a rack to mine. Otherwise it’s stock. I may buy something more powerful just out of curiosity, but I’m going to keep this motorcycle as a commuter for as long as I can.
Great to hear your bike is still going strong as well! I also just hit the 20,000k mark on my bike and it’s doing great still.
У меня cb400x 65000km пробег все отлично , максимальная скорость 172км/ч
Awesome review! Very clear and just natural. I wish I can ride on those mountain twisties someday. Ride safe!
Idol! Motourista here.
Me too. Someday were going to ride on this mountain twisties. Vince here from the philippines. One of your subsriber
My 2016 CB500X has 55k miles on her without any mechanical issues. The last rear tyre lasted 38k miles and she does 95 MPG (UK). I ride 100 miles a day for work all year round.
What a bike, it will be replaced at 100k miles with the latest CB500x model.
I salute you Honda, why would anyone buy another else......
👏
Thank you for your review once again. I purchased mine less than a week ago. Impressed!! Your recommendation went a long way in my overall decision
Wow congrats! Hope you're enjoying your new wheels and welcome to the X family. 😊
@@MeganKaptein thank you. Early days and still yet to break it in
Megan great video! And its fantastic that more and more female's are experiencing the motorcycle life !
Cheers
Thanks Brian! There's absolutely no reason men should be having all the fun on 2 wheels. :)
Most indeedy, I saw it way back whenmy wife got the bike bug from me. See ya ladies on the road !
Love to see women riding. The attitude they bring is so welcome in my experience.
This is one of the best motorcycle reviews I've watched! I had the CBR500 so I'm a big fan of the 471cc twin. Might be looking into the CB500X for future adventures thanks to your videos!
Love this bike, comfy and good for long ride...good sharing
I am blown away but the genuine feeling and alternate approach to a bike review, it simply feels accessible and hands on. Yes, the common "gas handle guy" should look and learn, great ownership experience review.
Thanks very much for your kind words. I like to think I represent the average rider and am happy to share my thoughts and experiences on the bike.
Youve sure got some beautiful countryside.
👍🏿🇦🇺
Wow, great review I just came across by accident :) I've got the CB500X 2019 model and I am an A2 beginner rider. I like it, too, but there are some things I don't really like. The thing is, most fanboys don't want to hear about them :)) Greetings from Spain to Canada!
BenalRida Thanks for watching. I’m interested in your thoughts. I’ll check out your video!
this is the kind of genuine review I'm looking for! i like how you relate yourself to your bike compared to others who just rented it for the sake of making a review video out of it. thank you Megan :D
Thanks James! I appreciate you watching.
@@MeganKaptein I should be the one thanking you for this valuable and motivational content. I've been watching it every now and then, while getting my motorcyle license. Can't wait to get this Cb500x.
Great video. It took me about 2 hours of research from a cold start to realise this is the bike for me. Your review reiterated all the other research I have done. I will be buying one soon.
Glad to hear I could help you have confidence in your decision, Michael. It's a great all-rounder...there's a reason you rarely see them come up used. 😊
Very nice review Megan! As I am a "Honda-man" for many years, I share your passion... Many more miles rubber down!!! cheers from California..
Thank you!
Viewer from Japan! Great presentation of your bike. I used to own Honda NC700X, which is pretty similar to yours. All of the points you mentioned are exactly the same with mine. It was very practical, quite agile at lower to medium speed with great torque. Easy to handles with great mileage. It is a gentle by nature, so I put on slip on pipe to make it sound bit more wild! :)
Just Wow. Amazing review Megan. Loved your presentation..it was to the point. So far the best CB500X review out of the 100 videos I have seen
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and for your kind words, Sharan!
I had narrowed it down to the same two bikes. A 650 Strom turned up at a good price. No bad choices here. Love the content.
Great review Megan, I love the bike, a great all rounder easy to live with bike like my CBF 500. 👍🇬🇧
Thanks Dave!
@@MeganKaptein I just love how you run your fingers through your hair...
Thanks for the review! I’m considering buying the 2019 model.
My pleasure, Denine. 2019 would be a dream!
Great camerawork and thank you for not blasting me with "motorcycle review music". Probably the only review that I've watched without skipping forward to jump the fluff intros. Big channels should take a lesson from you!
Great review. Nice to see someone from BC reviewing bikes. Cheers from N. ON.
Thanks for watching, Rob.
I really appreciate you giving your height and inseam. I am 6' with a 32" inseam and sometimes I watch a convincing review only to find out the rider is 5'6", and later I find the ergonomics of the machine are uncomfortable for this 71 year old body. I wish all reviewers would give their height, inseam and weight. I expect that at 250 lbs I am QUITE a bit heavier than you so a test ride to determine suitability would be required, but seeing your posture and sit-up position encourages me to try this bike out. In 1970 I rode a Honda cub c50 followed by a 1956 army surplus Triumph 500, then a 1980 Suzuki GS850G, then 35 years later a vstrom 650 (now gone) and I am ready for a newer light comfortable sit-up (i.e.no cruisers) machine. Thank you for a quality review. p.s. in 1980 and again 1981 I rode the GS850G from Ottawa to Vancouver visit family and up the Yellowhead to visit more family. Your B.C. photos lead me to tell my cranky old body to shut up and get ready for an adventure.
Terry.... You should consider a Ducati Multistrada... I have a 2015 MTS/S 160Hp and 100 lb/ft of torque. I am 250 lbs at 6' with an inseam of 34 inches.... the Musltistrada fits like a glove.
With a suspension that would make an off road bike jealous, you can take the MTS almost anywhere... With the beefed up suspension, the MTS can carry just under 1k lbs. Two-up, top box and panniers loaded... and there is still ample amounts of ponies if need be... It's worth a look... 🙂👍
absolutely! so many bike, car, truck reviewers state their comfort level w/o any of their size info!
Terry O'Brien I’m 6’2” and 200lbs and I owned this exact same bike. The seating position is perfect for me. You’ll find it’s very similar to any other adv bike and the stock seat is one of the most comfortable stock seats I’ve ever seen
Terry, happy that my information and review was useful for you and glad to hear that I am inspiring you to go on another adventure. :)
Great, thanks. I live in South West England. I bought a CB500X (2019) second hand with 7,300 km on it. It is a second bike to my Bonneville T120, but I can already see I will get a lot of use out of this CBX all year round. It feels safe on the small lanes and just that bit lighter. Cheers, Pete
Used 2019?!
My dad's friend got all hyped to buy a Harley, finally got a nice 883 to start on & he layed it over once & that was it, never road again. Same thing happen with your new bike?
Violet Victoria - nope, no problems with either the Bonneville or the CBX. I learnt my lessons about dropping bikes with other big bikes years ago.
@@petewebb6952 oh no not you, the previous owner, I love the 500 I can't imagine why someone would buy a 2019 & sell, that's why I thought of my dad's friend. :P
Violet Victoria - ah i understand now. I think the previous owner of my CBX bought it, made some mods, did a long tour, then wanted a bigger and different sort of bike. I’m not surprised as people often change their bikes every 18 months or so. The bike was 8n good nick, but you may remember when I joined the fb group (you greeted me I think) that I comment it had already done 4,700 miles. He got a bigger capacity Street Bike. I wanted a second bike. I tried an automatic Vespa but didn’t like it; but I am happy with this CBX.
Thanks for watching! The CB500X is definitely a great option for year round riding.
Thank you for the great review! All the best from Alberta.
Thanks for watching!
I just traded my 2017 CB500X for a 2020 Africa Twin AS. I loved my CB500X and I can't disagree with anything you said in your video. I don't know why this bike isn't more popular. If I had more room in my garage I wouldn't have traded and I would have the CB500X for commuting and the AT for touring/off-road. Instead I have to ride my AT everywhere... such a hardship. lol
I did over 22,000 kms on my CB500X in less than 2 years. I took it off-road. I had crash bars, bash plate, and SW-Motech panniers. It was my first road bike and will always have a place in my heart. The new owner is a young new rider and will use it for semi-long distance commuting. It will serve him well.
I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants a reliable well rounded bike with good mileage and enough power to get you where you want to go. The only reason I "upgraded" was I want to do more and more long distance touring and off-road trips and the CB500X just isn't up to that task without a Rally Raid kit. Plus the 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sport is amazing. :)
Thanks for watching and your comment, Jeff. I've had a number of comments about the Africa Twin, but it's nice to know the context of your comment. Personally, I need to acquire a few off-road skills before thinking about upgrading, but it's definitely something I would consider in the long run, like you!
Great video! I enjoy smaller bikes and started downsizing 5-6 years ago, had my 2013 CB500X (non ABS model) about 18 months now and have put just under 8,000 miles on it (everything from year round daily commuting to lite offroading/trails to week long trips half way across America to visit our oldest daughter, which included a 1,000 mile "Iron Butt" day in the mix), great bike do-it-all bike IMO (FWIW, I'm a life long rider since I was 4 year sold in 1977, more dirt than street. BTW, with proper tires, engine guards, skid plate and a bit of skill and common sense, despite it's budget suspension and 17" tires, it's much more capable than most would expect off road--Rally Raid would be a sweet upgrade though, like you said). 😁✌🏍
Love the 2014 without ABS great bike. Plan on putting a small switch on my 2015 so I can turn my ABS off when I need to. Rally Raid sells a switch and on line there is the instructions to do just that
Wow good for you! Truly impressed by the 1,000 mile ride. The longest I've ever done in a day is 1,000km on a BMW F 700 GS and that was definitely my limit.
@@DollyAndFamilyGetOutAndRide The switch would be a great feature!
I think i fell in love! 😍
Me too... every time I ride ;)
I must admit it's a great bike for a daily commute, comfort, wallet and oil friendly. Totally agreed with all the shared facts here. And I'm really fall in love with those sceneries. I hope I can do that someday with a bigger hp. Great work!
Thanks Jagan!
I have the Cb500x the 2018 model and just a few days ago I completed a 1737 km journey, where I test the moto speed and endurance. Max speed on 6th gear 189 km/h. I was driving keeping my throttle full open for the most duration of the journey and the average max speed I got was between 160-175 km/h. The money I spent on gas was 153 euros for my 1737 km journey. The motorcycle was very comfortable despite the fact I push it to its limits, the only thing got me tired was the fact I was driving very fast for hours. Keep in mind that this is my first bike and all this is a new experience for me! I suggest in order someone to enjoy the ride to drive at 140km/h with 6th gear! This motorcycle is only on road motorcycle unless you have the 2019 model!! In conclusion I JUST LOVE IT, it's a very versatile bike because it excels both in and outside the city!! I use this bike also for my daily transportation!! Well that's my experience and I wanted to share with you Meagan and the rest of the viewers
Wow where do you live that you can ride 189km/h? You must be in Germany!
Megan, I suspect every male motorcyclist on the planet would like to go on a date with you if they had a chance, LOL.
Excellent review, excellent editing. I'm impressed with your technical knowledge and your general kick-ass attitude to life.
Great review! I’ve watch CZcams-er BlancioLiro in Northern California put many miles on his with his Rally Raid pkg.
Great in-depth analysis of your bike 👍🏾
Great review. I like to see people who appreciate the motorcycle they ride and use it as it was meant to be.
Thanks for watching! I feel the same way... the guy that I bought the bike off of only had a few thousand KMs in 5 years. That’s just not right!
Hey, great review!...having owned one myself, I can’t disagree with anything you covered. Especially that horn button placement..aargh lol!...if I could’ve afforded two bikes at the time, I would have kept mine...a great ‘every day’ bike, but because I could only have the finances for one bike at the time, I changed mine for the Yamaha XJ6...anyhow, as I say, great review, probably the most informative I’ve seen 👏🏻...rsmf, Mark
Mark's Little World Thank you, Mark! Really appreciate it. If finances would allow, I would have a whole fleet myself... a girl can dream! :)
I though you were in New Zealand to start with,it's only when you mentioned ancient weight measurements,i realised you were on the wrong side of the road,ha ha
Although we (Canada) switched from Imperial to metric decades ago, we commonly work in both systems. We still commonly buy construction supplies, and even fruit and vegetables in imperial measurements. It may take another century before we completely switch ... lol It probably doesn't help that our neighbour to the south (US) is still using the imperial system.
@@garthhowe297 Most Australian "Boomers" can cope quite happily with both measurements as we went Metric on 14th February 1966. But to have the frequent pricing of fruit and vegetables in Imperial would certainly over-exercise my brain cells. Maybe Canadians will have fewer cases of Dementia as a direct result of all that mental juggling.
That was a Crisp and fun review "El-Capitaan" !! I own a 2013 CBR 250R Repsol Edition. I must say it really doesn't matter what you ride. But what really matters is "how you ride" "how often you ride" "where you ride" and ultimately "how much you know about ur own ride" . I'm sure you check all the above boxes. Cheerio and safe rides 😎
Well said!
Finally a woman who rides and reviews 💕thank you for a no nonsense review
That cover picture 😎
The two beauties pictured there are almost too much for an old dog like me.
Ok, I entered for the one in the red dress. But stayed for a really nice, informational bike intro.
Keep on riding, girl!
Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed your review.
In some ways you remind me of my daughter a bit, in that you are about the same age and she had a Honda CBR500 for a while.
I look forward to more of your videos.
Very cool! Thanks for watching.
Great video. So refreshing to find someone who is a 365 days a year rider. Your comments are all the more valid because of it. It is a sad fact that many people seem to just be weekend riders or have a collection of bikes like costume jewelery. I shall certainly watch more of your videos having seen this. Thank you for sharing,
Thanks for watching, Stephen. I wouldn’t say quite 365 but pretty close! We got some snow this winter, which is rare, but does happen.
The review we needed.
Canada looks beautiful, would love to ride Canada's great adventure trail.
It is a beautiful country! Thanks for watching 😊
Looks like a great bike. I think you would have loved the strom 650. I have the 1000 but had the 650 first and still miss some aspects. Great videos.
One of the best bike reviews I ve seen to date. Don't wanna see u ride the bike, I want fuel economy, realibily, comfort, ride height, practicality and most dudes can't even seem to grasp that on their reviews.
With my wife, we wanted to leave our Honda NC750X and 1000 Africa Twin, for lighter motorcycles. The excellent CB500X had won us over, but we opted for two KTM 390 Adv. They are powerful enough for the winding roads of Europe. Sincerely, from the south of Burgundy.
I’m a 5’ 10’’ guy and I only have a 31” inseam. 34”! Jealous; just a bit 😬
Great review BTW
Don't even get me started on how challenging it is finding pants that fit lol
I have 29" Inseam my Motocross bike has 38" seat height it I can recall .. 1998 YZ-400-F
@@mikeskidmore6754 Hahaha. Yeah I remember when they came out with that one and the seat was the highest of any motocross bike at the time. Man those things were hard to kick start if you stalled them when they were hot. (I think I just replied to you on another video. Weird.) I have a 30" inseam and my DR650 is manageable at only a 35" seat height. If I had 34" legs I'd ride whatever I wanted to!
@@MeganKaptein Haha! We're the opposite. I'm 6'0 with a 30" inseam. Basically a torso with stumps. I get a good groin stretch swinging my leg over my Africa Twin.

Yes !! It's a Honda 😉 what more can I say 😊😊
Nice review! Easy to watch and good info. Thanks, Megan.
LOVE riding out this way
Nice video Megan, my wife has one and I have the NC750X. If I was off road more I would have the CB500X and would certainly consider it for a RTW trip. Bulletproof, simple and comfortable...what more could you need. By the way Canada looks spectacular 👍
You pretty much summarized my review in 3 words. :) And yes, we are blessed with some amazing landscapes around here!
I actually think the CB500x is a better than average looking bike, the 2019 with 19" wheels looks even better. Thank you for the review and I have a Yamaha XT250 with 27K miles... Yes and when I was young I had bigger faster bikes but none that I have enjoyed as much as my little Yammer. I might pick up a 2019 or newer model....
It's not a bad looking bike per-se, but I favour naked bikes without all the plastic. 😊
@@MeganKaptein Yeah matter of taste I suppose but I prefer the looks of a well adorned adventure bike myself... I never thought the CB 500x looked like an adventure bike until this last itineration and the 19" wheel would make it much better off road. Regardless I think the bike would be about the best fit for me there is. 500cc is perfect.
FWIW I had a very nice naked looking 1974 CL450 that was all raced out and I smoked much bigger bikes with ease... The CL was I believe the less adorned sister to the CB. My bike had wide bars a custom Brit looking tank and seat and looked more like a BSA than a Honda....
I'm owner a CB 500x 2015 here in Brazil. Really it is a excelent bike. I like it a lot.
I am impressed by the amount of people around the world who admire and speak well of this bike. I am very proud to own this bike.
Hello fellow CB500X rider! Yes, it really is a great bike. Safe riding out there!
Hey, great video! I absolutely love it when I see a Lady out riding her bike! I am baffled by the 191 thumbs down ratings?? What on earth is not to like on this video??! Not a thing, as far as I am concerned! Thanks for this, and your other fun to watch videos! Thank you, from Bend, Oregon! God bless you and yours!
Thanks for watching! The thumbs down probably come from a Honda competitor 😉
mine drives well, corners great on pavement: scared myself going miles per hour when I accidentally changed the screen
That’s true but it’s called riding, not driving.
i love this Honda, and your voice 😉
Superb review and Ii think you've sold the CB500X to me! Completing my full licence over the coming weeks and this looks the perfect bike for me to gain experience on, travel the woodland roads, exploring and some wild camping. Thanks very much!
Megan and the motorcycle... irresistible combination.
Thanks for sharing the honest review. I am considering it as soon as it will be launched in India in 2020.
Thank you. It's my pleasure to provide some information. I recently heard that it will be released in India soon. I can imagine it will be a popular bike there.
shit Megan I just realised I love u!
Love the red dress!
We all do....😍
After 35 years and 4 Honda's, i can say that Honda is a very good bike, no matter wich one. Honda is quality for long time riding pleasure.
I'm a Yamaha Tracer 700 owner myself and let me tell you, sports touring bikes are the most comfortable and versatile bikes out there! Never been to Canada but it looks like a good country to ride a motorcycle.
I think so too! Thanks for watching
5'10" 34" inseam... 8)
nice and informative,,,, I an currently testing the 2019 model..... maybe u willl too. its great...
Hope to at some point! Enjoy the ride :)
How do you find it?
I'm in doubt between NC700X or CB500X
One of the best and most useful motorcycle reviews I've seen. Congrats and ride safe!
Thanks, Yon! Glad you found it useful.
Way to go! This woman has 0 cars, 2 bikes, and a 34” inseam. Yes a standard type bike with hard cases can do almost anything. Have fun!
Great review & story about you and how you use the bike, but where’s the red dress? Thx for the tips about riding Vancouver. I knew you guys had great roads up there but had no idea how nice. I’m in Colorado and you guys clearly have more tree lined roads. Your on bike camera shots really give a great look and feel to the roads there. Thx
Hi --I have the 2019 model and I love it but a few things that used to come as standard on the old cb500 years gone by now have to be bought as extras such as the centre stand. I do love the upgraded exhaust on the 2019 as it sounds awesome. The balance is fantastic and it gives you great confidence in corners. The ride is smooth and suspension is good too.
Nice to know about the 2019. I hope to get the chance to ride it sometime!
Having worked at a Honda motorcycle dealership in the past, I say you’ve made a wise choice purchasing this motorcycle. If it fits your needs, that’s all that matters. I’ve leaned my next purchase to a 2021 Yamaha Tenere 700 dual sport. Great video.
Thanks Bobby. I'm a big fan of the T7 as well. 😊
Stumbled upon this video. Super informative. Thank you. This one of a few I am looking at. I want to ride short, week end rides. Thanks again.
My pleasure, Robert. I’m glad it could provide some useful info for you!
Odd riding posture viewed from the back, like riding a Segway 😂
Hahah you're right! A very fast Segway! 😂
@@MeganKaptein I haven't seen enough of your riding yet to venture into the on bike posture territory, so I'll watch a few more of your vids first, especially vids taken of you cornering.
Actually really well done and presented review, very informative, trying to think of some questions a person would have about this bike after watching the review and drawing a blank. The only constructive criticism is that footage is sometimes low FPS and choppy. Looking forward to more, +1 subscriber!
Leuff, thanks so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate the feedback and happy to report that I am improving my skills and camera gear bit by bit and hopefully it will only go up from here! :)
amazing review! good job and safe rides to you!!
Top notch quality, and a females voice giving a review is like a fresh breath of air. Good stuff👍
Awesome review! Thanks Megan. You made me feel more confident in considering this bike to be my next possible commuter ride. I have never ridden anything more than 250cc since I began riding 10 years ago. I want to know how this bike performs in urban areas especially in heavy city traffic. Is the 500cc too much to handle or is it comfortable enough to manage? Thanks - Mark from Sydney, AU.
Hey Mark, I’ve become really comfortable and confident on this bike even in traffic, but I also think that if I was perpetually riding in heavy traffic and having to weave my way through small spaces, a smaller bike would probably be more ideal. (I’ve been in Asia in the last month riding a 500/250/150 and the 250 was great in heavy traffic, 500 felt much bigger and overkill in heavy Thailand traffic.) So I guess it really depends on the nature of your riding? I would recommend you try to demo the bike you’re interested at the local dealership if you’re able!
Thanks for your honest opinion and advice Megan. All the best!
"It's a great conversation starter!" Believe me, it's not the bike ...
I am a proud owner of the same MY model and I can tell you that the bike certainly helps.
cringe.
Excellent review. I had a 2014 and put over 22000 miles on it. I found it to be a very good, reliable, and fun bike to commute and for weekend trips.
Thanks for watching, Bill. Glad to hear you enjoyed many miles on your bike!
Hi Megan, Salutes from Monclova, Coahuila, México. Back in the 80,s, i bought a Honda XL500s single cilynder, an excellent and powerfull motorcycle. In 1984 i cross all the Baja California Peninsula, from Cabo San Lucas to Tijuana, it was an indescriptible experience, the scenarios let you breathless, the landscapes of the Sea of Cortez were absolutely gorgeous. Please be very carefull in your trips in BC. God bless you.
I'm in love... not so much with bike...! ;-)
no one cares about you falling for girls on youtube. please, keep that to yourself
Great video Megan. I am curious what luggage rack and bags you mounted. I am looking at getting the CB650R or CB500F and would like to mount bags to them. Would like to know what you used as the bags look great on your bike. Thanks
Hey Randy, the rack and crash bars are Givi, and the luggage is Kappa.
Great review. It is very much in point with the focus on the bike rather than the rider/surroundings. I found it informative and for someone who is considering it as a second bike it was extremely useful. Thanks.
Thanks Iain. Happy you found it useful!
Good, honest, review from a fellow British Columbian. Well done. :)
