My thoughts, too. I've never done this on skin but I've used it many times to transfer patterns to wood using rubbing alcohol and an ink jet printer. Only took the design and alcohol and a LOT of pressure / rubbing. So I don't know if it would work on a human.

Hey Echo! New here! Just started watching and I love love love you! Now, about these "easy made temp tattoos"....we used to do this all the time as kids! No need for any perfume! All we did, on regular white paper, was draw any picture in PENCIL, wet the area you want the tattoo, place the drawing on the area, then wet the backside of the drawing with a washcloth and hold it there for about thirty seconds. Then voila! Temp tattoo! Just make sure you trace over your drawing in pencil really dark! Let me know how it works for you!

I do linocut, and the process you described reminds me of acetone transfer, which I've used in the past. First, the image needs to be laser printed, not deskjet. The difference is that deskjet processes use ink, while laser printing uses toner. Toner is essentially powdered plastic, and it's susceptible to certain solvents like acetone (that's what I've used). I'm not terribly surprised that one of the solvents in perfume works. If you can figure out which one, you can save yourself the trouble of spraying a ton of perfume around the place every time. I'm not sure what the first spray is for since the water soak probably washes that off the paper. Soaking in water is probably done to loosen up the paper fibers a bit, but it's not a normal step for linocut transfers. Once I got the process working as instructed, I'd experiment with leaving each of these out and see what happens. The second spray is the magic, and partially dissolves the toner from the paper. You want to make sure you have good coverage here. At that point the image is basically free to move from the paper to the carving medium (or skin, it seems). Wait time is probably to get some of the solvent near the transfer surface to evaporate away. You can get lots more information by googling "acetone transfer". :) If you don't have a laser printer at home, most of the big photocopiers use laser printing. You can take your (very darkly printed) image to any office supply store or library and make a copy for a few cents. Also, I'd just go ahead and use the acetone, personally. If it's safe enough to remove nail polish, I'm certain this application is fine. Good luck!
I remember doing this when I was really little but freehanding the design on paper with a pen. You could try that since you don't have the right printer
The picture on the paper has to be drawn in sharpie, the alcohol in the perfume+water reactivates the ink. I learned this trick in drama class when I was in high school. 😁
This would be a really good idea if you're on the fence about getting a specific tattoo. I did that but with sharpie haha. Getting the tattoo next month though!
I'm glad this was in my recommendations because I need to tell you that I used to have that sweater!!! I wore it all the time in college until a lot of the shiny wore off and the front panel was thread bare. Love it on you!!
yeah because ink transfers but dried ink does not, it's semi fresh as you drew over it haha and the perfume goes boom skin but it's equivalent to drawing on yourself with a sharpie and then using perfume and hot water haha
It actually depends on what type of ink you use in your printer (or if it's a laser printer ) ( I personally can't recommend a certain ink I just know that it's sold in Australia) I just went to my town library and printed my pictures there and I also used deodorant oddly It did work I was just impatient and mine showed up with missing bits and stuff
@@callous99 It literally translates to Schreibblock, which would be correct German. From the verb schrijven = schreiben. Dutch is pretty easy to get into as a German person. For transferring printed circuit board patterns we use a laser printer, then an iron to heat the ink and transfer it to the copper board. I would surmise that might be a tad painful, using the iron on your skin, so as a WAG the alcohol probably does something instead of the heat of the iron. I believe the rubbing alcohol should work fine in place of the perfume, which I am told usually has an alcohol base.

it helps if you don't use a paper towel or plush towel to add pressure. both soak up a bit of moisture, and the moisture is what is needed for the pressure. try just using your bare hand, or non absorbent object to add pressure.
It's the same concept used to transfer images for linocut block printing at my university. You can achieve it with wintergreen oil and LASER printed paper. Clean dry skin(or block for printmaking), printed paper facing down and then Wintergreen painted or cotton ball applied until you can see through it to the image. Peel it off when you're ready and make sure it's dry before you rub it on anything though! (Wintergreen is minty strong! But I'd say better than all the other chemicals in the perfume, and should only take one good try). Basically a temporary tattoo where you replace water with wintergreen. It's all just a chemical reaction, but it doesn't work with inkjet printers because they don't use the same concept. The perfume process would probably work if they had the right combination of chemistry.
You go over it with the marker to make it more intense and make it look like it's supposed it that's the secret it puts her in a little bit and then you trace it
I did this trick and also got frustrated like you, but found out you need to have a laser printer for it to work. Got my friend to print me some with her laser printer and the tattoos do work. Hang in there, Echo!
Like many have said, laser printer is a must. Another way which is not good for sensitive skin is the use of thinner, which is more direct but I don't recommend as it can cause a burning sensation.
We used to do this back in school (im hurtling towards 25 so you can get how long ago that was) and the way it works best is with either a freshly printed image ie the ink from the printer is still wet or you have to go over the design with pen then do it, basically before either types of ink dry. I printed a whole sempiternal dream catcher on my thigh this way during my BMTH emo years and it stayed for like a week so use these methods if you want it to work!✨✨
Back in the day this was a trent in nail art. We used to do it with newspapers and a perfume with alcohol in it. I think the problem here is the ink and paper, Try it with a news paper and maybe it works!
Laser printer and alcohol based perfumes. Note, the perfumes (and similar products) seem to require the alcohol to set. There may be other steps to it (someone said something about ironing it). The reason you use a laser printer is probably because it doesn't soak into the paper like ink does, it just sits on top.
You can transfer a laser picture, color or black and white, on wood by laying down a layer of gel medium. Place the picture face down and smooth out as much as possible. Let it dry overnight. The next day dampen the surface and slowly rub off the paper with your fingers. Continue to add water so it stays slightly damp. Completely remove the paper and gently wipe down the image to remove any paper particles. Be gentle, you don't want to rub away the image. Let it dry. Make sure the surface is smooth and clean and there's no paper residue. If there is lightly rub it with slightly damp fingers and bruxism it off. Lastly, apply a sealant like mod podge. Note, if you are using text be sure to print a mirror image or your words will be reversed on the picture. 😊
Hi Echo, You'd probably get better results using a dry process printer like a laser copier or printer. If you really want to get it to come off the paper easily, print it on label backing paper. It has a thin layer of silicone that will alow the toner to slide off once its saturated with isopropyl alcohol. However there's a good chance it will dissolve the toner. The other big problem is you need heat to transfer if you're not suspending the toner in a medium. I use it to print etching paths on brass but you need heat for that. I don't think your arm is going to like 200°c heat so good luck with the alcohol route 🙂
Never done anything like this for temporary tattoos, but at my job, both acetone and 91% rubbing alcohol will make laser toner "lift" off of paper (the glossier the better), which makes for good transfers. So if I were going to try to do this for temporary tattoos, I'd fully dry the skin out with rubbing alcohol (I'd guess that skin oils would prevent the toner from bonding to the skin in any meaningful manner), print with a laser printer onto semi-gloss paper (full gloss might stop the alcohol from soaking in), soak the one side, if you want to use water to weaken the paper a bit, try that, but otherwise transfer directly to the skin. Again, this is just a guess, but in my experience with removing identifying labels from computers and hard drives, a process like this /should/ work.
Haven’t really tried that method but I remember I used to do it with pure acetone. You just: Print the design Place it on your body part of choice Get some acetone and cotton balls Soak cotton ball in acetone Dab it over the design a few times And done I would usually wait for it to dry, and it can also be kinda messy if I’m being honest. But, if I managed to give the instructions (of the procedure that worked for me) you should be able to do it without much trouble :D
We used to do this in grade 3! We'd make a pencil drawing pressing really hard on the paper (we had HB 2 pencils, not sure if it makes a difference), then put the paper picture down on our skin and soak the paper.. most kids just drenched it in spit. We'd hold it down with the palm of our hand for about 5mins, or until it'd start to get dry. Then gently remove the paper and we'd have a "temporary tattoo".
Another way to do temporary tattoos is by using a watercolor pencil. I have the Crayola ones and I dip the pencil I want in a cup of water and then draw on myself. I think I would seal it with hairspray when I was younger, but don't quote me on that one. Good luck with your temporary tattoo endeavor!
A few people have mentioned, but I believe you will need your prints to be done from a laser printer (stock shouldn't matter much, basic printer paper should do). Similar process involve using these prints on brass for electroplating. Laser printers can be picked up relatively cheap on Amazon and Ebay and should you really want to give this a try, I recommend refurbished toner cartridges and refilling them yourself... it's a pain, and messy (do it outside) but so much cheaper. Quick sidenote... absolutely love your videos.
I do know that something that does work when you draw yourself is hairspray. If you draw on your skin and spray it with hairspray it stays for a week so maybe if you spray it with hairspray then maybe it'll transfer
For me, I have a regular old printer and it worked but you have all the steps right but when you take it out of the water, spray your desired area then spray the image again and SOAK it. Then place on your skin with pressure and it should work!
I think one time I made a temporary tattoo with inkjet by using a shiny paper. It just made the ink not stay on the paper so it transferred on to my skin.
As others have said, a laser printer is likely the answer. It could also be, for some people, that after they get the faded results, they go over it with a pen or marker or eyeliner or something.
Hi Echo, I just now realized that the space you are shooting in front of is like some sort of alcove/under-loft-bed-nook, not a weirdly proportioned bedroom (I assumed the red drawers were full size waayy in the background before). This is after watching at least twenty of your videos, so I don’t know what that says... Your red design is so cute!!!
ok so there are two diy temporary tattoo tricks, this one and the freehanding one where you use sharpie and baby powder and hairspray and basically even though no one said it i think the best method of temporary tattooing is to do this and let it be faded just so you have something to trace with a thin sharpie and then do the sharpie method over it
Haven't watched the video yet but that tattoo image used in the og tik tok with the hands and planets is for dale as a legit temporary tattoo on a couple of websites. I think Momentary Ink is one
For things like this, I do the design in ballpoint pen and then put men's gel stick deodorant on the area of skin. No water or smelly sprays, and it works fine with regular paper.
The issue is laser print vs inkjet print... Laser produces a film which can be separated from the substrate. You could also try laser on shiny paper or acetate (ohp transparencies). It won't not be as flexible or soakable as paper but the design should lift with alcohol, and float off onto the skin... I hope this helps.
Here is a video which shows the principle / process for acetate laser image transfer onto uv resin... So a bit different, but well worth a watch! czcams.com/video/KxQ6HHsOO6A/video.html
1. Need updates on Geko! 2. If it's not too much work do follow up vid with laser printer and see if it works! Would love to see! 3. Stay awesome! You're super cool and I love all your vids!!
I use this paper you would use for lunch and then draw with graphit on it. I put this on my arm, make a wet with a small towel and then i just draw over the ''print'' :D
Something something lasers. I would also hazard to guess that it doesn't need to be perfume, but rather just rubbing alcohol. It's probably cheaper than a ton of body spray.
Soak the paper in perfume Soak it in the water for 20 seconds not minutes Spray your arm with perfume Place the tattoo on your arm Spray with perfume Press with damp cloth for 30 seconds Peel off It worked for me so it should work for u
yooo! i used to do that when I was younger, it was so much fun giving myself temporary tattoos like that. It was one of the funnest things i did when I was bored at night
One technique I did see work involved using the paper to make a faint guideline, then tracing that with sharpie or similar and setting it (The video I watched used baby powder)
alternative: do these steps and then trace over the outline, apply a quick spritz of hairspray, baby powder, and one more spray. a lot of work but it works brother
So I got this to work...like three times. Use warm water, plenty of body spray and DO NOT USE A TOWEL to hold it down. That soaks up the water and body spray. Idk what kind of printer it was since I have to use the one at the local library. Also. The 3 min 2 min rule worked pretty well for me. So for like three days at a time I had the Anti-possession tattoo from Supernatural on my chest and arm.
you can draw something with ink(non-toxic ink) and use deodorant and rub on top on the drawing them press down and hold it down for a min and rub a little.

You just:
Print the design
Place it on your body part of choice
Get some acetone and cotton balls
Soak cotton ball in acetone
Dab it over the design a few times
And done
I would usually wait for it to dry, and it can also be kinda messy if I’m being honest.
A homemade temporary tattoo...
*Laughs in melanin*
I love the perseverance in this video!!!!!
For me, I have a regular old printer and it worked but you have all the steps right but when you take it out of the water, spray your desired area then spray the image again and SOAK it. Then place on your skin with pressure and it should work!
My favorite thing about you is how unimpressed you always seem about everything. ❤
You need a laser printer for it to transfer completely to your skin, for what I've heard.
They are using temporary tattoo paper that can be printed on.
Your red design is so cute!!!
ok so there are two diy temporary tattoo tricks, this one and the freehanding one where you use sharpie and baby powder and hairspray and basically even though no one said it i think the best method of temporary tattooing is to do this and let it be faded just so you have something to trace with a thin sharpie and then do the sharpie method over it
I agree, tik tok is becoming vine and im surprised
Haven't watched the video yet but that tattoo image used in the og tik tok with the hands and planets is for dale as a legit temporary tattoo on a couple of websites. I think Momentary Ink is one
Also possibly Tattify
Everyone knows tweens have the most permeable skin out of all the age groups.
You could draw over the tattoo with marker then just put it in the water for about a minute then put it on the desired location and put pressure on it
I’m pretty sure it’s because you actually have to draw it yourself or if you want those certain “tattoos” then try tracing them and try it that way
I’m a obsessed with your hair colour 😍
my sister did it and it depends on the printer you're using and that you need to use alcohol based sprays or just straight alcohol
I use to print stuff on thick clear film and then put it on myself as a temp tattoo
Did anyone Else notice that her First try actually did work? Was slightly visible on camera
Sharpie and hairspray makes a better and easier temp tattoo. Much less headache
You're super cool and I love all your vids!!
yayy the best b day gift ever!! echo uploaded!!!!!!!
markus Happy Birthday!
@@ellies.4781 thanks! 😊
Soak the paper in perfume
Soak it in the water for 20 seconds not minutes
Spray your arm with perfume
Place the tattoo on your arm
Spray with perfume
Press with damp cloth for 30 seconds
Peel off
It worked for me so it should work for u
You gotta use a wet papertowel with ANY temporary tattoo otherwise a dry one will just sap the moisture out
Love the ladybugs!
yooo! i used to do that when I was younger, it was so much fun giving myself temporary tattoos like that. It was one of the funnest things i did when I was bored at night
You are a warrior my nose would have fallen off as soon as I sprayed the perfume
I love that computer screensaver of the face that changes ... where/how can i get it?
I’m getting on TikTok after I watch this vid. GUARANTEED the video you’re talking about will pop up on my feed lmao
So for like three days at a time I had the Anti-possession tattoo from Supernatural on my chest and arm.
i like that when Echo failed she was like "ok, but what if I do that again but h a r d e r"
I am neary 60, with no tattoos but.....I WOULD BUY SOME TEMPORAIRES if they were her art. So me when I was young. Thumbs up girl!
you can draw something with ink(non-toxic ink) and use deodorant and rub on top on the drawing them press down and hold it down for a min and rub a little.
funny bc I just did mine few hour ago and it works exactly like they told. Remember: body spray/perfume, laser print, hot water, and damp cloth.
