ALPORT CASTLES - 10 Mile Peak District Solo Hike - Ladybower Reservoir

- Hello and welcome back to another Peak District Walk! In this weeks video I visit another Peak District hidden gem… Alport Castles! Its also the first outing I’ve had with the drone, so let me know what you thought of the aerial shots! I did realise after filming that I probably shouldn’t have flown it over ladybower as i saw some ‘no drones’ signs later on in the walk next to Derwent reservoir. Learnt for next time!

Ive seen a few C-130s round there and also a few C-17s do a touch & go on Ladybower a few times from Bamford Edge doing their loop. Awesome to see them when you're out 💯

Absolutely amazing ending. Not sure if it was a stretch C130 but it was epic. Alport Castles definitely on my list. I've got to get to Alport Moor a mile past that Trig Point. It is a long slog. I'm tempted to go from Snake Pass and do a right turn into 'The Swamp' to get there. With the Larch disease closure still in effect it makes access to Alport Moor difficult. Up past Bleaklow Head is the other way. Any advice? It's the 535 spot height on Alport Moor I'm after. Irregardless, fantastic hike as always Alex and it is a pleasure to watch such professionally filmed hikes instead of my point and shoot. Do you have a gear review of camera gear etc?
Hi Alex. That was an amazing video! Alport is so beautiful and majestic, It’s a must see in the Peaks. Loving the Drone footage, the quality is stunning! It really adds to the video. And…. As you would expect, I loved the music, very tasteful and appropriate for the film. You’ve raised your videography to the next level mate!!! Absolutely stunning footage from the get go - seeing the peak district from above is just utterly stunning then the walk was great to watch, that landscape is next level, beautiful! But the best thing for me was to watch Alport castle formations...wow! They are so unusual but beautiful. Fantastic video Alex, really enjoyed watching, cant wait to watch more of your journeys :)
The aircraft looked like a C130 Hercules. Well done for catching that on film 👍

A classic walk there Alex. Alport Castles is certainly an amazing place. I love the views back over to the forest from up there. Must be one of the nicest circular walks in the Peaks with the walk alongside the reservoir to finish

Loved this video Alex! especially the drone footage of the forests. Alport castles is on my to do list so I feel very inspired to go try this route asap while it's quieter :) Thank you for the thorough descriptions of your routes, I have been able to plot it on my maps just from watching 😁

Did you reach the tower of alport castle? If so, how technically challenging was the scramble up there?
