Honestly this is probably the only thing I liked about season 8. While disappointing, Jon got the best possible ending for himself, he didn’t want to be Ned Stark’s bastard, lord commander, The king of the north, nor the Heir to the iron throne, everyone looked at him with hatred and jealousy except the Free folk, they didn’t care who his family was, they liked Jon for who he is.

@@govarius2802 shit I actually didn’t think about that. There was a King Beyond the Wall (Mance), and it’s probably the best “king” title for him, given that every other King’s throne has been soiled with the blood spilt all because of House names and titles and birthrights. That’s something Jon has always hated and looked to avoid

Jonas Joseph ikr? Even though his love for Daenerys was honest and intense at the very end all I could think about was Ygritte and how far Jon has come only to end up in the exact same place. He even looks the same with the old haircut and black cloak. If we saw him like this without the knowledge of the past 3 seasons we’d think that nothing had changed. It truly feels bittersweet.

A man who grew up as the black sheep in the Stark household with not rights, but unbeknownst to him carried a huge secret. A man that took the black in order to serve the realms of men, who brought justice to the former Lord Commander Mormont. A man who befriended the wildlings that and brought peace between the free folk and the northerners, under the his time as 998th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. A man who was murdered by his fellow brethren, but was revived in order to free his home from a madman. A man who would find himself as The King of the North, but chose to bend the knee for the greater good. Part of me is still bitter about Jon basically getting forced into exile after all the wars are won and he finishes doing everyone’s dirty work. But honestly I kind of have come to like it, he never wanted the iron throne and he would hated being King of Westeros in the rat’s nest of kings landing. And even in the North he’d have Sansa bitching at him the entire time and a bunch of hard headed lords who would have all died if he hadn’t of knelt to Dany but still refuse to recognize that. The Freefolk are the only ones who generally appreciate him and aren’t always demanding he do something for them, they accept him for who he is and I hope he finds peace with them.

I mean you are right ofc but if you think about it him not wanting the Iron Throne is the very reason he would be a good king (like the only one in the last few decades). I really hope the upcoming Snow series will show us a better ending for him cuz he deserves it.
Also i understand he had to be punished somehow but i don't like how they treated him and the wildlings (i mean i know it was their decision cuz they just would follow Jon everywhere he goes). Still they could at least given the wildlings lands to farm cuz the white walkers were not the only reason they wanted to get on the other side of the Wall but also the scarcity of food. As we know the conditions there are much harsher than the ones in Westeros and it just seems unfair as they helped them in the war with the Night King's army and in return they have to go back there

JON SNOW IS NEITHER A KING NOR A HERO. HE IS SOMETHING MORE.
Dissect all of his plot points. From the very beginning when he took initiative and stepped up to save the direwolf pups. To making the sacrifice of joining the night’s watch for the greater good. He risked everything and more to save the wildlings and unite them with the North. He battled a variety of foes and using his wits and skill always came out on top. In the end he made the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good. He took the life of the one he loved; he chose exile and potential death. He sacrificed his future and happiness and chose a life of exile all for the sake of the realm. He always was whatever the realm needed him to be.
On top of all this, we should mention Jon Snow was a loner from day one, his life was depressing. His actions and his story, especially the way it ended, is akin to another hero who is more than a hero.
All along Jon Snow has been the one to make the decisions no one else could. All of the plot points behind Jon Snow reveal to me who he TRULY is....

I like this ending for Jon, he belongs north of the wall.
Recall when Ned found the direwolf pups, they all said that a direwolf doesn't belong south of the wall. This was a sign that Jon, the white wolf, shouldn't be south of the wall either. Him and Ghost are now north of the wall as they should be.
