    ECHO FIX TAPE ECHO EF-X2
    A classic effect, built for modern users - the EF-X2 couples the sounds you know and love, with features and reliability unimaginable in the past. In designing the EF-X2, the team here at Echo Fix began with the knowledge and insight gained from our work as the world's foremost experts in spare parts, servicing and repairing vintage tape echo units. Put simply, we know how tape echos should sound and operate.
    We spent three years prototyping, rigorously testing, and meticulously designing in secret - while accounting for every possible application. We couldn't find a new production motor good enough so we made our own and invested in the latest high tech machinery to custom balance them in house here at Echo Fix. We could not find tape heads that sounded good enough so we had custom tape heads manufactured to our exact specs.
    One of the other important things when it comes to reliable tape echo operation is the tape loop. We thoroughly researched tape and have a tape formulation that not only lasts a very long time but sounds incredible as well, that is how far we were willing to go to make the EF-X2 reliable and sound great!
    What we have built is a warm sounding tape echo with a modern feature set that is at home in the professional recording studio, live guitar rig, bedroom production setup or in any other context you can dream up, we cannot wait for the EF-X2 to become an integral part of your creative process.

    I wish i know about you guys 10 years ago......(long story) I took my RE-201 to a repair shop and they couldnt repair it, before I could pick it up they quit returning all contact and after months of reaching out, they told me they sold it because it sat in the shop to long! I could have gotten the parts from you and done it myself!! 😭

      @g2DN2aTYHzNsVR6o Před 5 lety +1

      That is heartbreaking. I have dragged my RE-201 all over the world. I run everything through it. I have even used it for track reverb when mixing. I love it.
      But now I'm very tempted by these folks' updated version here!

      @@g2DN2aTYHzNsVR6o Very cool! It has such a unique vibe, especially when like 6 inches of the tape has a nice stretch in it, creates such a cool texture!

    I’m curious, why did you decide on adding DSP reverb instead of a spring tank?

    • @echofix
      @echofix  Před 5 lety +2

      Hey! We decided to go with the DSP reverb as its a much more "usable" reverb for many different styles of music. Also gives you the option to dial in a short, medium or long reverb.

    • @thelizardlords

    @seek4truth Před 4 lety

    How often should the tape in these must be changed? In Europe Thomann sells these units but i didn’t see the tapes ... another question: how often this need a fix/repair if used 8 hours a week in Studio? I won,t tour with them

    • @echofix
      @echofix  Před 4 lety +1

      Seek4Truth Hi, A new tape loop should last between 100 to 300hrs depending on humidity. The unit is user serviceable as well. The replacement rubber roller, felts and a head clean can be easily carried out by the end user. This would not need to be done for at least 2 or 3 years.

      @@echofix I live in Finland and we usually buy gear from Thomann because they offer 3 years warranty and free repair etc. I checked and they have your product. But i've seen you offer a version for guitarist that come with a Echoplex preamp. Thomann does not have that version. Can you tell me where I can find that moded version?

    • @echofix
      @echofix  Před 4 lety

      Hey! It was designed by two people (Shane Fritsch & Doug Ford) and yes the idea came from refurbishing Space Echos over the last 15 years. We still service the vintage units for now but we no longer refurbish them for sale.

      It’s not a clone or reissue of a Space Echo so why should it pay “homage” to it? Do you know how many companies besides Roland have made tape echo units?
