I'm more interested in Oisins family tree than Oisin😂
I think we all are 😂
Really wonder how ugly that one relative was that the Vikings didn't bother to carry off in their longboats.
@@NONO-hz4vougly or talked too much😂
Yeah. I'm actually really interested in family trees😅
all:the men in my family suffer from male pattern baldness but not quite as early as that! ❤🏴
"the only girl in the village not taken on the longboats" is my new favourite subtle insult 😂
Yes, it is amazing. Wonder why not :-)
Hagrid be like 'throw this one back!'
Hello. I love this group but i am not irish. What do they mean by that?? Thank you🖐🖐
@@josegalotti2932The vikings carried off all the other girls, but didn't take her - implying that she wasn't much of a looker XD
@@AmataTai thank you very much🖐🖐😊
Quote of the Day: “The amount of extra work I’ve had to put in because that man couldn’t keep it in his trousers.”
That'll be interesting for the next generation to read about in school.
I'm pretty sure, Foil was about to break at that point 😆
As a keen genealogist with fecund and feckless ancestors I found myself really sympathizing with Anne.
The frustration trying to sort out all 25 children by 2 wives of my 4x great grandfather (hardly interrupted by his sentence for cattle theft) , or all the husbands of my 3x great grandmother (including the mystery of who fathered her first child).
Then there are the ancestors who seem to be incapable of telling the truth on documents , and those who seem to have appeared out of thin air.
My teenager on the other hand couldn’t be less interested in my research so she would sympathize with Oisin.
imagine how every Greek mythologist felt xDDD
Doing genealogy at the moment, I can sympathize as well... But worse than having 15 kids with 4 wives is moving a lot and having kids in 3 different towns. If someone is born, married, and buried in the same place, finding records of all their kids is pretty straightforward. When they move it gets really tricky not to lose them.
"You want me to get someone pregnant?" 😂😂😂 loved that line! I really wanna see Oisín in the fear of becoming a teenage dad 😆
Well if they ever film the sketch where he brings a girlfriend home...
(Mentioned in comments a couple of years ago as written and just waiting - it was covid era - to be able to film with a guest star again.)
@@IntensivePorpoiseyeah that would be cool 😁
@@IntensivePorpoiseOisin needs to bring a female version of Barry home as his girlfriend. Either a lady comedian they know or just get Arms to put a wig and dress on!
Now that would make for a really funny sketch, I think 🤣😂 The fear...Foil is just so good at playing angsty teens. This would probably be the cherry on top. But who would play his girlfriend? Maybe a female version of a Barry would be possible, or Foil playing both roles or maybe a grilfriend that resembles his mum. Anne would be probably be very pleased at such a girflriend. 😆
@@Ensign_RoqueI would like to see Barry’s cousin or perhaps a half-sister from Spain? (Wasn’t that where his father went off to? Maybe he had a reason for that particular country.) I think that would make for some interesting faces from Anne 😁 First the dislike of Barry’s sperm donor and then the delight of the thought of a summer house in Spain. Then Oisin’s increasing dismay and the girlfriend’s increasing delight. And it turns out that the two women get on like a house on fire!
That look when Anne says, "he was very kind to his mother" 😃..That was a master class in the subtle guilt trip 😃
But she _is_ hoping for grandchildren in due time, yes? Just not right now. 😉😄
One of my grandparents has 14 siblings, so it's 10 times worse. Generally if someone tells me I'm related to them I'll just believe them.
Never win the lottery.
Never looked at my family tree for fear it would be terribly dull.
Any of them have the same name?
my dad has 6 siblings, i cant keep track of my cousins of my father side fr
My grandmother had 10. Not as bad as yours, but nonetheless... ^^
"A total stranger" 😂😂
He's had enough
I had to sit through such a family tree explanation about three times and the amount of "confirmed bachelors" in our family was truly hilarious.
Though the explanations I got to figure this out, make Ann look extremely open minded and lovely in contrast.
Ciarán really can't catch a break from Hog, huh? 😅
Anne is a very liberal woman, live free, except when it comes to wearing a coat in winter.
she must be. @@foilarmsandhog I mean, Osin has a father, no? And presumably, he is not dead.
My maternal grandfather's side has a suspiciously large amount of single men. At one point we can trace our line back to a family of nine siblings, only one of whom ever married. Just the lone straight brother saving the bloodline.
I love how he has got invested over time and asked questions 😁
Did he have much choice? 😂😂😂
Perked right up at the mention of the family tracing their roots all the way to the Vikings😂
Perked up at the mention of the family tracing their roots all the way to the Vikings😂
Haha the hair loss part got his interest. Poor kid
The hair loss horror reminded me of my old friend from the uni. He, too, suffered from hair loss since mid-20s. He has made peace with this fate, but still very sad from time to time. Be strong, Oisin.
Gotta shave early
Some people turn it into their advantage and start wearing all sorts of funny wigs 😅❤👍
@@foilarmsandhog said the man with enough hair for two people!!
Yes…In the modern age, “I’m just interested in learning more about my family tree”, can turn into “you’re probably going to die from heart disease or brain cancer” pretty quickly.
@@drewred9308 unfortunately yes... but with healthy lifestyle you can postpone every disease... and the other way round, of course ;}
Thank you Arms for making Anne AND Oisin stay for the outro this time. I know it's difficult to sell anything with Oisin moping around, but you all did a great job!
I'm not so sure... Anne had a good point about being specific. I think the marketing team in the middle there needs to make sure that wooden spoon drawer is locked just in case 😂
One of the best FAH moments was the outro where Ann and Barry were doing a tiktok dance. So understated and hilarious.
Agree, that was just the best!!
"When parents ruin your summer"

You gotta learn the family tree so you don't bark up the wrong one. It's a small island!
Yeah, always a possibility
Hog is so convincing as a middle-aged mom that I always forget it’s Hog and not really anne 😂
I know. I love the Anne character so I kind of wish he'd stay as Anne 24/7 but that wdnt be fair on Hogg!
no way I'd call Anne's family boring 😂 I was invested in this 😂
I could watch a whole soap opera going over their family tree.
@@TheOReport1994 same! And HOW Anne tells the story will never bore me.
Oh dear, Ann's discombobulated speech about the gay great uncle had me in stitches! 😂 Love Ann&Oisin sketches ❤ Thanks for the lovely start to my day, lads!
Btw, how much of this sketch was improvised? I have a feeling especially Hog just slips into the role and whatever comes out then is gold 😁
I bet most gay uncles DID become priests though.
I was honestly surprised she didn't say "ho-mo-sex-u-al" in a weird tone like parents often do 😅
At least 20%! I shout at them from behind the camera as well, so we get loads of new stuff when we turn the camera on
My mum would exaggeratedly mouth the word, but no sound would be heard.
"Always very kind to his mother"
Love it. So many great lines: "you want me to get someone pregnant?", "a total stranger", "she died in the x ray trials" and the references to Dunbooey and Ciaran A'hern: Chef's kiss
All soooo great, I agree 🤣
For a long lost Canadian of proud Irish descent, can you please explain the references to Dunbooey and Ciaran A'hern? Thank you!
@@mcfunwow - These are almost like inside jokes in the FAH fandom!
Dunbooey is a fictional sleepy little rural Irish village (beloved by Anne, dreaded by Oisin) mentioned in one or more earlier sketches about these characters.
Ciaran Ahern is a real person (a friend of Sean "Hog" Flanagan) but they've used the name several times in various sketches, always in reference to someone with a ridiculous story associated with them.
@mcfunwow Anonymous Selkie has explained it much better than I could but if you want to to find out more about Dunbooey look up the sketch "Staycation with Your Parents".
Also "Long Drives with your Parents" they are driving there. The name appears in a few other Anne and Oisin sketches incidentally.
As a genealogy librarian, I side with Ann - researching your family tree can be fascinating! (Particularly loved her use of the back of a roll of wallpaper to chart it out.) But I loved Oisín’s reactions - another excellent sketch! ❤❤❤
I thought that was a stroke of genius! nice tough paper
If you've ever started a family tree, you learn pretty quickly that the largest piece of paper that you can find, is never big enough! Wallpaper makes sense!
Thing is, it had to do more with personal interest.
Would you rather know you you have blood ties to or just hope it doesn't matter?
That depends on the person themself.
As a genealogist, I am laughing so hard at this! I got to Philip Flanagan and his pants and totally lost it. Big thank-yous from one of your fans in the States.
This had me chuckling all the way through. My question is, how did Anne finally get Oisin to come sit at the table after he so quickly ran off? You know he truly wants to get away when he says he'll clean his room 😄 Nothing like an Anne and Oisin sketch at 3 am.
Now that's a good question... I suppose at the end of the day, he's a good son and she's got access to the WiFi.
Her house. Her table. Her messed up family tree. Her rules.
Oh my god girl, go to sleeeeeeeeeeeeep 😂
She was going to record herself explaining the tree and play it whenever possible or Oisin could come and hear it just the once.
Time for bed! is there snow there yet??
My dad's family tree is from a city in Mexico that used to be much smaller when he was a kid.
The family tree is very detailed, but the weird thing is that last names repeat in multiple parts. I asked him and told me the reason this is so detailed was to avoid "accidental marriages", sometimes not so accidental. They were even encouraged to migrate to avoid this accidents. It goes back till 1840s.
The Victorians could never
2:54 "People don't even watch the outros..." LOL. Love the self-awareness.
I rather enjoy family history, confirming to me once again that I'm more like Anne with every day that passes.
Congratulations or I'm so sorry - pick whichever one you prefer 😂
It is a fate that awaits us all
@foilarmsandhog My father was born in 1913, so I am Anne's mother's vintage. Oh dear😮Dad's great-grandmother immigrated from Ballinasloe to NSW in 1842 ... oops, sorry, I'm being boring ...
Me too! And my teenager is just like Oisin.
@@SamFAHntha I'll take the congrats. 😄 Anne enjoys period dramas and visiting old churches--that sounds like a good time to me!
I absolutely LOVE Anne and Oisin sketches. And that was a truly fascinating family tree I must say. ‘The only woman in the village NOT to be taken away in a longboat……….’ 😅😂
Yeah that's the line that got me. ^^
@@Triskaanme too😂😂😂
Any sketch with Anne and Oisin is guaranteed to be amazing!
Seeing Hogwash again at the fringe last week and comparing it to the previews last year the changes are just incredible how you guys have developed the show into the masterpiece that it is today.
It doesn’t matter how many times you see it it just gets better and better every time! The talent you guys have is unbelievable and I can’t wait to see what next years show will be!! 😁😁
Doesn't matter how many times you see the show, it's always a hilarious show. I'm sure they will raise the bar yet again for next year's show.
Couldn’t agree more! And to see them making each other laugh with bits of improv every night, just the cherry on top 👌🏻
Oooooh a new show!!! That's SO exciting to think about!
So good to see you Rebecca! Thanks for coming and for staying and saying hi
How many Americans claiming to be Irish will now believe they're a distant cousin to Oisin?
Me!
I'm neither American, nor have I ever claimed to be Irish, but my ancestor wasn't taken by vikings either, so we MUST be related!
Female relative came over to Canada during the potato famine. I have too many ancestors from different places to have any real connection (unfortunately) to my ancestors’ cultures. It’s more of a constant reminder that I don’t have solid connections to anywhere.
As recently as second generation to be born here on my mother’s side, and no one really talked about family history. This is partly the reason for the shows like “who do you think you are”, because we just don’t know.
I wish people would stop being mean about Americans valuing their Irish ancestral roots, it is understandable if you thought about it a little, and it’s pretty harmless after all.
@@genevievedolan1288 It's probably because a lot of americans who pretend to be irish use it as an excuse to be violent alcoholics. So it's pretty harmful.
I'd be way more interested in family history than Oisin seems to be.
Poor Anne she's just trying to share something with her son that she finds interesting!
Although she definitely got some pleasure out of telling him about the possibility of losing his hair! 😂
perhaps she thought he spends too much time, in front of the mirror, styling his hair 😁😇
That longboats line was SAVAGE.
They’re always so accurate! There’s *always* an older or deceased male family member who gets described as ‘eccentric’ or ‘theatrical’ or ‘was very good to his mother’.
😁😁
It's always a pleasure to see Anne Flanagan offering a little family history along with just the right amount of gentle guidance for Oisin as she knows that proper parenting is imperative.
An icon, for sure!
Was waiting for Barry to pop up somewhere on the tree - maybe one of notorious Philip’s grandchildren 😄
And of course we watch the outros! They are just too good to miss.
I feel like Anne should have seized the opportunity to make Oisin cut the grass 😌
NOTHING gets in the way of a mother retelling the family saga. I can attest😂
My favourite line was "the only girl NOT to be taken away in the longboats". Took me like a second to get it.
Hey Foil, Arms, and Hog! I love your stuff, I was so excited to get to see you guys in Boston about a year ago. (I was the one who had you sign a piece of aluminum foil, a tiny plastic arm, and a tiny plastic hog.)
I'm a transgender man. A few months ago, my grandmother told me off-handedly that one of her aunts had been a lesbian. I was so excited I cried. Before then, I was under the impression that my bisexual sister and I were the only queers in the whole family. Connection is important. Family ancestry is important. Know your people.
Using a piece of wallpaper to draw up the family tree, brilliant. Nice touch gents 🤣. The wallpaper was a multipurpose item back in the day... schoolbooks!
I'm a keen family researcher, and I get these reactions all the time when I try to share what I've learned.
Haha the only woman left behind by the Vikings 🤣 killer line
This is now the third spelling we've got for Dunbooey 😅 Honestly amazed it's not also the third time we've seen Anne witness The Talk, after that crack about getting someone pregnant. Perhaps that's why there was a cut soon after, to take out the 30 minutes of Anne trying to go over the birds and the bees outside the cupboard Oisín's hiding in.
I wonder how Foil Arms & Hog are able to make up with the best jokes ever every week
They should do more!
They take 1% from life experience and the other 99% is just pure brilliance.
Hmmm, let's not get General Hog on this. He'll request to have their brains removed and examined and I get the feeling they sort of need them for comedy.
That's very kind!
While on holiday in Ireland, I discovered there was a (distant) relative of mine on the coach. Thanks to the family tree in my possession I found out we share an ancestor five generations back. Being descended from the only person who took on the surname under Napoleon’s rule, everyone who shares it is a relative.
Foil has that Resting Bored Face perfected by this stage, I hope he pulls it at randomly every now and then, as a not-so-subtle comment 😂
Oisín's my favourite buzzkill 😂
"You want me to get someone pregnant?". The hair loss joke... The wonderful outro... So good to start your Thursday morning with this sketch lads! 😍
I choked at the pregnant line 🤣
Being a Patreoner is knowing Arms had slightly more fun editing this one than he could've had because of the really good "WHAT?"s in there 😂😏
😂😂😂
WHAT?! - The greatest of comedy punctuations
Oh what a treat! Could listen to Anne tell family stories all day! Oisín doesn't appreciate how lucky he is! The constant tapping him and with the pen. 😂😂 A lovely start to the day! 🥰
I was a bit surprised that more of the family hadn't immigrated to the States way back when the spuds failed (and maybe became stupidly famous at a well-known right-wing 'news' channel 😉)
"Anne loves to hit."
I love Oisin's momentary interest in the stories that seem like they have the potential to become interesting, and the vague disappointment when they don't. Really, really excellent job, as always!!
I love all of your work, but long-suffering Oisin and his mum have a special place in my heart. I just LOVE their interaction, it's so, so funny and genuine. You reallybring those characters alive, fellas, I´d watch a whole show about them.
Love the fact it's on a roll of wallpaper 😂
keeping things authentic
"A total stranger" is an amazing line haha
Poor Oisin: First he got all those details he wasn't even slightly interested in and then when it actually came to him... it was bad news about his hair's future. xD
It'd be so funny if Barry turned out to be Oisín's uncle or something one day 😂
Or long lost son.. Doesn't make sense? Well neither DOES BARRY!!
I could imagine Barry finding out he has a rich family history of king-slayers, inventors, scientific breaththroughs, famous musicians and painters. Barry would reply "Cool. Can i have a magnum?"
It's not far fetched, as Anne said" We're a small island nation"😆😆😆.
So many funny lines! Anne has a lot of interesting relatives :D! Love Oisin's journey from trying to escape, to bored, to somewhat interested, to distressed
Love the outro, too (I always watch, Oisin)!
As a man whose lost his hair in his mid 20’s, I had the same reaction as Oisin when I found out it could happen 😂
"a complete stranger" never have i related with a quote so much in my life 😂
1:47 the mannerism is so on-point 😅👌
Family history is a never ending hole of information that you can never seem to get out of 😆 I get stuck for hours reading everything and looking at pictures 😂
Always love these two characters!! 😄
But but but Barry 😭
@@SamFAHntha Barry's not Irish, by his DNA 🤫 more like a cross of a Scottish father and a Portuguese mother, both living in Ireland 🙊😇
@@tobiMelka his father lives in Portugal ;)
@@Skyebright1 Doesn't he only work there?? Anyway, it could be the other way round, too.. 😉
Loved it!!
Especially the part where Anne gets really nervous talking about the Harold. It's spot on I'd say, most of the older people I've spoken to about gay people get really nervous and they like to make it abundantly clear they were okay with it. It's so nice that nowadays it's like "they're gay" "oh okay cool"
Anyways I'll stop rambling.... until my next comment now 😂
Whichever of you, guys, selected this piece by Mozart for the Anna Flanagan series, is a pure genius. You could just show Anna and play the music in the background - and that would do the job perfectly already. Bravo!
You’ve done it again! I love how you’re keeping the Flanagan Family going. This was a great, obvious concept but I’d never even considered it!
The total stranger! 😂
Keep up the great work 🤩
I feel so lucky that next week, we're getting ANOTHER ONE 🤩😂
Ich liebe den Sketch UND das Outro. Oisins trockene Art, das Desinteresse daran zu beschreiben, war großartig - und erst recht, wie Arms dann lachen musste. :D
Einen schönen Donnerstag! :)
Reminds me of when I was doing family tree projects in school. My German side was filled with lawyers, tradesmen, a literal saint, minor nobles, and the last German POW of the Great War to be returned to Germany and is traced to the 1600’s. My Irish side always had some tragic story attached to the person. Literally, they all end in a psych ward, prison, or a workhouse. So this sketch was extra funny for me.
I’m so happy to see Oisin and Anne again!
I already can't wait to have them back 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Oisín's looks-to-camera were hilarious
Also
"You want me to get someone pregnant"
"I'll cut the grass"
That's going in my 2023 top 10
HUGE CALL
"He was gay together." I completely LOST IT! xD
Also for the past 3 days I've been wearing shorts. That doesn't sound strange but as a shorts hater I very rarely wear them (and would never in public) so I guess this means I was influenced by Foil. Someone send help xD
I've got some tea towels, some scissors and some tape. On my way!
It’s so nice to Anne again! She’s awesome and I’m happy to learn about the family tree.
Great stuff - looking forward to seeing Anne on an episode of ‘Who do you think you are?’ soon. Did wonder if Barry was going to rock up and claim royal heritage.
I love Anne Flanagan!! She's *soo* good!
That stained glass window that has to be seen to be believed (long car drive going on holiday).
Homeschooling during Covid. So excellent!! 😂
I hang out with a lot of amateur genealogists online, mostly researching families in WWI...this is so on point! Especially Philip with his 15 kids! (In real life, I feel like he would also have had a number of fake names and been, in the very least, a bigamist.)
I am sure he had 15+ kids 😁 a couple of them out of the 4 wedlocks, too 😎
I have an ancestor who had 25 kids (only one adopted). He married young to his neighbor who was abandoned when pregnant by someone else.
He adopted the first baby and then they had 14 children.
After she died he married a younger wife and kept going to have 10 more children.
He was 19 when the first child was born and 75 when his last child was born.
No bigamy required.
@@Oishionna Hmm... he was lucky to marry very strong women 😉 And how about the children?? Did they all survive till adult age??
Gotta love Oisin clutching his head like he can keep all the hair on just by doing that
I was waiting for the great uncle who never married 😂
My friend realised his is less of a family tree and more of a circle 😅. He's from Shetland and there were only so many families to marry into and then oops, you're your own 5th cousin 😄
A truly small island nation
Ah lads, how does your show keep getting better?! Saw you at the Fringe and the show was phenomenal - both times (and honestly wish I'd seen all five, but like steering clear of any kind restraining order 😅) ! You keep packing more laughs into the sketches and the songs are so damn catchy they're in my head all the time! And the harmonies! 😍As always left me with a happy FAH glow. It was lovely to see yous so relaxed, enjoying it and having a bit of craic!
Anne, if you've not been to a show, I highly recommend these lads!
Only twice?? You amateur 🤣 You need to go to ALL the shows - that's the FAH(n) way! 😁😁

The best outro yet! Anne's final little, 'Stopit!' to Oisin made me watch the whole thing again.
-So what does that make him to you?
-A total stranger.
That dry delivery caught me of guard. Very nice! Made my day.
Poor Oisìn, you can tell how desperate he is to avoid more mother-son time by offering to visit granny! Love Foil as our favourite stroppy teen, he's got the expressions and cockyness just right. I hope he'll tell him we love the outros as much as the sketches
His commitment to being Ann does not end even in outro
There's a theory going round that Hog doesn't play Anne, Anne plays Hog.
So true to life! All I have to do is call out " Oisin!" to any one of my sons and they know I'm having an "Anne Flanagan" moment. Thanks for so much laughter.
My friend has 15 siblings. 7 kids were still living at home and the rest had left home with the older few married with kids. As a teenager I was invited to their house for a New Year’s Eve party.
I had been there for about an hour before I realised that I was the only person at that really crowded party, that wasn’t a family member, a child or partner of a family member - it was wild.
Years later I was again invited to a family member’s 50th birthday party. The place was packed and every conversation that night began with - “now, where do you fit into the family?”
Oh and they all played an instrument so there was always live music playing.
Amazing family.
thank you for this. I'm still smiling. (and I had nothing to smile about before the sketch I tell you.)
I always like it when they stay in character for the doom dah
I love the subtle implication Oisin’s mum has gone all the way back to Vikings 🤣
What worries me is that great great great................. granny Saoirse was so hideous that the Vikings decided to leave her behind
"The only woman in her village not to be taken off in the longboats!"🤣🤣🤣
That family tree will come in handy at the wedding reception when Anne asks in her speech how soon she'll begin seeing grandchildren's names listed from her branch.
Oh my 😂 I don't know how you do it, but you keep delivering one brilliant sketch after the other. It's just incredibly inspiring to see someone really enjoy what they're doing (another reason to always watch the outros). I feel so lucky to have discovered your comedy. Thanks for making Thursdays so much funnier. Have a wonderful day!

Ann & Oisin make my Irish heart smile! “And, that’s the way it was.”
Phillip Flanagan, that cracked me up both at work and again at home. He deserves his own video after taking up so much space on Anne's wallpaper backside family tree. I like him already.

Anne don't you think it's time perhaps young Oisín got a job? Like you say, by his age there's many who'd have a lot more than just a job.
Great sketch idea!
@@SamFAHnthaImagine a sketch where Oisín has a summer job in a shop and Anne comes in shopping.
