- Today I walkthrough, explain, test and review the Audient ID14 MKII. This is a USB-C bus powered audio interface which is expandable to 10 inputs via ADAT/SPDIF, with 2 amazing internal preamps and a great sounding instrument input. MKII improves the A/D conversion dynamic range by 5dB, and D/A conversions dynamic range by 9dB. The headphone is capable of driving even the HD650’s cleanly and it records up to 24-bit 96kHz.

Love me some Audient stuff. Nice review. This is a great interface for voiceover.
🦠❤️
I'm interested in music, vocals and guitars, and for me I think the Audient is where it's at.
@@auramac if its good enough for "professional grade" music its good enough for professional grade voiceover... both work the same you need clean dry vocals for you to be able to shape your voice if you need to in your daw.
Man, you literally have some of the cleanest sound I have ever heard. So impressed with the audio quality, even with what you get on some of your cheaper interfaces and mics. :D
I recently bought id14 mk2, couldn't have been happier with this device
I bought the ID14 first gen half A year ago and I am more than happy with it. The Motu was and still is bad available. The software is perhaps not to everyones liking, but with the additional 8 channels hard to beat. A beginning sound engineer can record everything with it, including a complete drumkit, if you have the additional channels.
Something else for the Audient and SSL and against the Motu, if it is on your desk I really like the controls on top and not on the front. The micports at the back instead of the front are also better with cable handling. The Audient is in between my monitor and keyboard.
As always, a nice review, thanks!
I have a Scarlett Solo 2nd gen, but I was considering giving that to my roommate and this was an interface I'm considering. Thanks for the reviews as always and keep up the good work. :)
I've been using the first generation id14 for about a year in my one man band demos. Great little interface. Good sound in any price range.
I'm picking up the id44 here pretty soon. These interfaces seem exactly like what Ive been looking for. I want the four channels for simple drum recording until I expand it down the road to do more channels. Great review!
Also use AUDIENT ASP l 880 PREAM.
Solid demo-your sage advice is much appreciated!
A very decent and deep quality review! Many thanks!
Thank you for another great review. Love you channel.
Two suggestions for a review: Yamaha AG03/06 USB mixer that was my go to for the corona times and IK MUltimedia iRig Pro Duo I/O that is a bit less budget, but a bit more road traveler. Would be really nice to see your take on those and a comparison or two.
The sound from this is wow- even at 100% gain
Absolutely love my iD14 first gen. Building a new setup soon and hyped to get this one. I’ve had no issues at all with discord so it could be a Mac thing
I've been waiting for this one!
Great review I'm going to try this interface for voice-over
That DI sound just slides right off. Smooth.
I’m happy to see that the majority of these new products are coming with USB C.
Still enjoying my ID14 MKI ✌🏻
Thanks friend , it was so useful !
So it looks like the software on the id14 replaces the monitor mix knob on the ID4. This is a major improvement in my opinion. Thanks for showing that crucial piece of information. I hate the mix knob on the ID4. Think I made my decision to upgrade for that alone, and the 4 outputs. Awesome feature to A/B 2 sets of monitors with a monitor controller. 👍
This unit seems to fill out the bottom end of the nt1, and smooth the highs…very balance it sounds great. Sm7b sounds thick clean and wonderful
one more thing. id14 mk2 fixes the orientation of the LR speakers output. now when it is facing you, L is on the left, and R is on the right. previously it was reversed
Thank you very much for this review. I shall go with the SSL 2 then !
I managed to find 1 in stock about a month ago. All I can say is I am not dissapointed.
Coming from the iD4 MKI to the iD14 MKII and it has been an absolute pleasure to own, pre-amps are beyond clean and I love being able to have 2 mic inputs. I run my Lewitt LCT 440 Pure in channel 1 and my SM58 in channel 2. I turned my encoder button into a mute button for my Lewitt on channel 1, and then my SM58 has a on/off switch to mute itself physically as well. Being able to mute both my microphones quickly is a blessing bro. The guitar input is clean, and my DT770 80ohm headphones sound very clear. This is just an amazing interface, do not sleep on it. I really wish I had it back when I owned a SM7B......
Also, DIscord works just fine for me with the iD14 MKII!
how would you route it?
@@DarkPa1adin very carefully
do u readjust the volume knobe after pc going to sleep and wake up ., or restarting the pc >? does it go to zero after turning pc into sleep mode ?
Hie i am in similar situation like you i bought id4mk1 2 years ago and planning to upgrade to id14mk2 can you tell me if it's worth considering sound quality n extra mic input i will record guitar ,vocals, bass and amp also i'll stream games and music on twitch
Hello, I have Shure sm7b? For Audient iD14 MK2, does it require extra Cloudfilterr?
That guitar demo is so dope
I prefer Audient ID14. If I want color in my recording, I have the microphone color or a preamplifier or a plugins for it. For MIDI I can find a USB cable.
Better is to have a neutral and clear signal and do anything you want. This is my opinion...
...and 66 dB difference
I sometimes wonder if the companies that send Bandrew gear have pre-screened the boxes to remove stickers... there's been a distinct lack of sticker rage the past while.
Sticker Rage 🤣
@@jehtirjanuschtan8060 Stickerage. Sounds like a verb to describe the amount of stickers in a package lol
One of them needs to send him a box without the product. Just stickers!
I keep wanting to replace my ancient Edirol UA-5, but it supports two xlr/1/4” inputs, monitor them separately, has RCA stereo input at the back for a small analog mixer, digital out, headphone jack. Don’t need midi. I’m sure the audio is crap compared to the Audient but serves my purpose even though I’m itching to buy something new.
Great review. As always.
I am still really happy with my SSL2 (non+) and SM57 (+accessories) combo and not even think about any change in the setup.
57? Not a vocalist, I see.
You're so funny and great reviews!
This explains a lot. I'm about 40db quieter in discord than every other application and discord support was no help at all
Great voice over correction. 😁👍
I didn't notice anything
@@the_newvoice that’s my point. He did a good job with it. 😁

I am a consummate professional!
@@Podcastage what is consummate do you consume mates a lot? thats weird...
I use the Audient iD14 in my voiceover studio. I have used this with Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro (250 ohm) and Sony MDR-7520 (24 ohm) headphones. Have to turn it all the way up to get an ok signal level w the DT770, making it problematic for fine editing, whereas there is plenty of headroom with the 7520 to make your ears bleed if you like that sort of thing. The low roll off at the lower impedance is an interesting issue but with spoken word, I have not encountered an issue, especially as the 7520s perform at 8-50k frequency response, so Sony said. (Alas, my favorite headphones ever can no longer be gotten.) HUGE CAVEAT to the iD14: the firmware is funky in working w Protools. There is a STATE file that you have to find in your library and trash on a regular basis because frequently, you'll open a session, or even continue a session and find you have NO headphone monitoring. The meters are moving in the DAW but no sound in the interface. Super painful because the fix is trashing the STATE file, then pulling the plugs on the id14, rebooting the Mac, and plugging the iD14 back in. But the good news is usually you only have to do that once per occurrence. Usually. Sometimes it takes two restarts, which is really a serious loss of time and a major annoyance. That is what has cooled my jets on recommending the iD14 any more. Audient is at a loss to explain the problem and because it comes from the UK, the whole servicing methodology and time frame was too much of a pain to do (I'd have to buy an equal backup interface to keep working, and why do I want to do that?) that I continue to live with the issue.
just got my first audio interface ever and it's this one here :)
iD14 - It's very close to my perfect next audio interface. I can only pick on: lack of another pair of line inputs or inserts, also digital output, and inputs VU or just led for clipping. Otherwise very good thing for price.
Hey. After going through a bunch of your videos for helping make my decision on Mics and Headset Mics, I now find that you are doing Audio Interface reviews as well - which is my next buy. :-)
Thanks a lot for all these videos.
One things I hadn't crossed my mind and that came out in some comment is that many Audio Interfaces do not seem to have latency free direct monitoring via the TRS outs. They have direct monitoring only via the headphone jack. Can you perhaps touch upon that in your reviews? I might want to use the AI as a mixer when jamming with a couple friends instead of purchasing another device and in this case having this monitor out directly to the speaker monitors would be nice to have and latency free.
That bass guitar is gorgeous looking (and sounding).
Great review! I was curious which audio interface you recommend for having multiple programs such as Cubase, Izotope, Pro Tools and Sibelius opened at the same time? Right now it crashes, or there is no sound on 3/4 of them. Any recommendation would be much appreciated!
Great review as usual and thanks. I have one question, do you tend to compromise between software imput level and the dial knob? I tend to use this to get signal coming from another interface, my knob dials they usually at 2 o clock and the one on software at 0db. What you guys do?
That's some tasty guitar playing, brother!
Had my ID14 MK II since launch and it changed EVERYTHING! Awesome review as always!
hey man im dying to get this question answered by somone one who actually uses this , does the volume knob resets to zero when you turn ur pc into sleep mode and waking it up. or this only happens when u turn off and on the computer ? thank u !
Thank you for the review! The only thing that would really annoy me (and it’s coming back from previous gen.) is volume reset after each power off. The solution could be the preset in the software , but nope - volume level doesn’t save with preset. It’s really unfortunate that despite all this technical mumbo jumbo Audient keep forgetting about the basic QoL features.
That’s a great point there!
Agreed
@@B49tube I can’t believe they need “fair few user requests” just to CONSIDER adding such basic feature. That’s just stupid
Yes, neither the Headphone level, they are not showing in the config file at all.
True, but considering that my Prism Sound Lyra 2 costs £2300 new, and the iD14 costs about £185 - I really, really, really can forgive this detail, considering the perplexing level of quality on offer!
Hey Bandrew, Can you do a review on the Miktek MK300? It got a lot of rave on GS, some said it's could sometimes sound like a $1000 mics.
Is there any noticeable difference between the D.I. inputs on the interfaces you mentioned at the end. I'm really debating between them and I think the Instrument input will be the most important thing between them as well as latency since I'm primarily a guitar player. Thanks for your reviews!
This is a great interface and I've been using it for a couple of months now, but there's one problem. The Rode NTG3 suddenly has a massive self noise problem when I connect directly to the interface, but not when I run it through the golden age MKII JR outboard preamp. None of my other microphones do this. It's weird.
Throw away tl your scrap NTG3.
Nice review.
I am having a problem with discord too. Could you make a tutorial on how to fix it if possible please
Already have SSL2+ for my MKH416 but i need this for my 250ohm headphones from Beyerdynamic, thanks buddy.
Great video man! Been waiting to see you do this review. Could you PLEASE do the Antelope Zen Go! 🙏🏼
Thanks for this review! Is there any possibility on creating a video to show how to create the loopback thing for discord? Not an audio expert here!
Instruments test was fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey what Amazing review like always ! Review about the BLACK LION REVOLUTION 2x2 !! SOUNDS amazing but I want to listen your opinion !! and no too many reviewers have this review
Not looking good so far. Amir @ ASR found mediocre D/A and A/D dynamic range, and Julian Krause was starting to think his review sample was a dud when he found mic input EIN even higher than the Steinberg UR22s'. This seems to be a company that believes in optimizing things purely "by ear", which has a tendency to backfire horribly. As it stands, this interface seems to be a botched implementation of something usually selling for half the price at best.
@@PileOfEmptyTapes Thank you. I thought so.
Hi Bandrew, Is the discord audio problem also happens in iD4 MK2 or just iD14?
Motu M2/4, SSL2/+, and the id4/14 are pretty much the triumvirate of higher end entry level interfaces.
Hello, can I ask, which one is better, Moto 2 or Audient iD14 MK2?
Any word on when we might see a Mark II for other ID models? Thanks!
which prefer FOCUSRITE SOLO 3rd G or AUDIENTE ID4 MII?
Thanks for the video. This seem legit as far as quality goes. I think it's important to know that it requires USB 3.0, so won't work on older, USB 2.0-only machines, or it could be a problem if all your USB 3.0 and 3.1 ports are occupied.
That’s not really a problem, just get a USB-C - to - USB-A cable. They’re common.
@@5133937 Okay, thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that you could use a USB 3.0 device in a USB 2.0 port, but apparently you can as USB 3.0 is backward compatible. Obviously, you'd be limited to 2.0 speeds, but you won't hit the speed limit with only such a low-channel-count interface.
@@lance134679 do you think there would be no problem using it on a machine with only usb 2.0 port ? a condenser, for example would work ok ?
@@lance134679 USB 3.0 is about the power available and hooking up to a 2.0 jack means less power regardless of the connector... You MUST use a 3.0 jack for proper power...
@@DWHarper62 I knew there was a reason and I guess it wasn't compatibility, but providing the necessary power to run the unit and phantom power, if required. Thanks.
Happy to see the MKII iD4 and iD14 updated to current tech. I prefer analog knobs and better build quality over EVO4. Also should keep sound advantage over Focusrites.
Manual volume, gain, and mix monitor knobs are very handy. MKII improves on the weak spots of iD4 first gen a little more gain and better headphone output. Expect high ohm headphones to sound better on the MKII.
I prefer mix knob on iD4 vs. software but would also like separate control of speaker and headphones and ability to bypass ampand use a channel strip like iD44. Increased gain is nice too using with Rode Procaster at 85 or 90 percent gain I can hit -6 to -8 db if I'm on top of the mic. With a fethead I got down to 55-60 percent gain and have more room to adjust gain. Above 85-90 percent gain it sounds terrible. 76 db gain RME babyface is in another league but also 3x the cost.
I use to have the babyface mk2 a few years ago, and then switched to audient id22, i totally prefer the sound of audient, the converters on audient sound the best and i used to have from rme to spl crimson , apollo etc...Ppl often mistake the extra super stability of drivers in rme and their rock solid devices with the converts quality that are just ok/good, but not very good compared to audient for example which reminded me the way consoles sound when i was in big studios.
All I Want for -Christmas- *Eid al-Fitr* Is -You- _Audient ID14 MKII_
Great review!
I need a bit of advice if you don’t mind. I’m looking for an external usb powered dac to enjoy music with one mic input for online meetings. But the high quality dac for music listening is priority. Do you think it’s worth getting the id14mkii just for that as I’m not a musician therefore I do not need instrument input. The price is incredible for what it does. And I do love having the volume knob instead of fiddling with some tiny up and down buttons.
Any dac only device at the similar price point that would do a better job for my use case?
thank you in advance
Out of your recommendations in the id14 price range...which has the best clarity for vocal inputs?...
Hi thanks for great video. I have two questions. First: Did you connect the el.guitar to the Di input or to the back line input? When I turn on my Gibson Explorer with passive magnets, the signal clips even when the input gain is turned off. Second: Does Daw report to you that the signal is passing even when your input gain is at zero (turn off)? When I connect the mic At4050 and Bass Guitar with passive magnets, the signal passes up to -24dbFS in DAW and on LED meters.
How would you stack this up against the Yamaha AG06? Also how does the dac quality compare?? Just want to be able to have an xlr mic input for my pc to use as a regular mic for gaming and powerful enough to drive the DT 990 pros. BUT I also want a quality dac for a decent hifi speaker listening experience.
is there a difference in gain and noise floor between ID4 vs ID14?
Would you please tell how do you record and mix the tracks? 10:26 or make a video so that we could achieve that clarity.
Thanks! So, unless one is getting a UAD device, this is the best option out there? Oh, what do you think of the Focusrite Clarett.
Do you think this interface has enough power to power an at2020 mic and biodynamic 990 pro 250 ohm headphones? Or do you recommend something a little cheaper if this interface is to strong for both of them?
Is this better than ssl2+ for electric guitar recording? (For high gain settings, I would like to know wich has the best preamp and the less noisy)
Can you review the maono au-a03? thank youu cause im tryin to find my first budget but cheap microphone
SSL has tiny little better conversion. This being said all of the audio interface (SSL2, ID14 and M2) are great. Could. be interesting to review Apollo twin MKII or X as well as Antilope Zen Go... Audio interface with real-time effect. Great video tho :D
I’ve been using my TwinX for about a year and I have it on my schedule to review this year. =)

Which interface would you recommend (not high budget) to use with a rode nt1 microphone. The space is fully treated by 45%
ID14MKII or Scarlet 2 i 2 third generation. 45% treatment is good. Over treatment is wrong.
Can you review the Quad Cortex as an audio interface?
How does this compare to the universal audio arrow / Apollo solo. I can get them for about the same price but I’m worried about the longevity of the Apollo as it is not class compliant, whereas I believe the audient is class compliant.
Purchased, just waiting now for USB adapter :X
phantom power turn ledt or right side?
The BLA Revolution and the Motu M4 sound much better in the lower frequencies but I am also aware that they may well be coloured in order to sell better.
Great review. I have a question about room noise (or noise floor, whatever the background noise is called). Would you use the SM7B or NT1? And Motu vs Audient for the lowes noise interface? Thank you.
Hello, Which one you end up buying? Moto 2 or Audient iD14 MK2 for Shure sm7b?
@@kaankucuk1612 I went with Audient + NT1 and they work great.
I have two important questions:
1. Is it possible to connect my tv over the optical input with this interface and have the sound of the tv and my pc playing on my headphones simultaneously?
2. Does the interface work with pc off, just with the remainig usb-power delivery, so that i can watch tv with my speakers/headphones but without needing to power on the pc?
Maybe someone could give me answers to this.
Thanks
Can you review Universal Audio Volt next?
I only hear audio on the left side. Is this normal?
I picked up the id4, im very happy
can you please compare it with Universal Audio Volt 2? please
hi im with focusrite scarlet 2i2 3rd gen now.
Im planning to upgrading my AI/Pre after finally i got my neumann KM184 :)
is it better to upgrade my scarlet to clarett+
or
Stay with scarlet 3rd gen 2i2 and buy a pre (maybe about 200-300)?
Thanks!
can i use the interface without connecting to a DAW ? if i want to connect a line-in through the optical AND connect some analog inputs via XLR, can i hear everything mixed together through the headphone jacks or even through the analog outputs all at the same time ?
can anyone answer this problem i have with the Audient ID14 MKII Audio Interface ? I find that the gain on the microphone is about a quarter of what I get on my previous interface. I have to have the mic full volume to just about be heard. I've tried it on 2 different computers with 2 different microphones and is the same. I am using good quality lavalier Tram mic. I spoke to audient about this and they said that the unit was faulty and to send it back. So I did that I've got a new unit and have exactly the same problem, there is nearly no gain/volume on the microphone. Any ideas any solutions any comparisons I would love to know about. If it is true this is a huge and stupid drawback to this unit. The other interface I have which I get plenty of volume on the Mic is a Rubix 22.
How do I use 2 pairs of monitors with this sound card?
@Podcastage Audient ID14 MKII or Focusrite Clarett+ 2Pre?? Opinions please??
Can anyone help me register my product ? It wants my pin which is located on my serial number sticker but everything I put is wrong. Where is the pin?
Hi, would anyone know if this still doesnt play with Discord nicely? Thanks!
I haven't tried it in discord in a while, but I end up having to use loopback with most interfaces nowadays: czcams.com/video/0w676uvHyus/video.html
Buffer size up to 4096? That's awesome.
I got the ID4 MKII and loving it. Though I feel like I could've settled for a more affordable alternative haha.
Same but it gets the job done
hey man thank you for the review ? i have one question if you are still using id14 . do u have to re adjust volume knob every time you turn ur pc into sleep mode and waking it up. i heard it goes to zero evey time >>???
Yes that's correct.
since it dont have power supply ... wondering whats the max lenght of the USB cable and still provide all power to the preamps ?
Most USB's are not effective over 10 feet and may need power boost if longer...
