Even though I'm trying to avoid as many spoilers as I can, I'm interested in seeing what kind of directions will the third entry bring. This is definetely my most anticipated game of the year.
This is definitely the biggest one for me too! I’m super excited for Bayonetta 3 and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
I really hope the theory that Keves and Agnus are fighting over their wildly conflicting views on the kind of man Klaus/Zanza was, because the difference couldn't be more stark.
XC2: "Then our answers match! Thank you for giving us all life!"
XC1: "You wanted worthless slaves! Our lives as food!"
It could be pretty cool if executed well. Although the people from Alrest have the clearer picture, the journey for both sides to realize that the truth is more muddled than they could've comprehended would be very interesting.
@@KayJulers My thoughts exactly! The people of Alrest may have a clearer picture on the time-line of events and Klaus's motivations leading to The Birth of a Universe, they don't have context for all the shit Zanza pulled in the XC1 universe.
I think Luxin articulated it. best: Agnus views the world as the last gift of a repentant, benevolent god, while Keves views the world as a world won through the defeat of a tyrannical, malevolent god and forged by humanity to explicitly not have gods.
I think how much this may or may not play a part in the conflict between Keves and Agnus all depends on how far into the futures of the XC1 and XC2 worlds the merge occurs. Because if the merging of the two worlds into Aionios happens like a couple of decades after the events of the games, then knowledge of what actually went down in the endgame of XC1 and XC2 might not be super widespread. Cause like, does the average person living in Colony 9 in FC actually know the specifics about what happened at the end of XC1? Do they know who Zanza is? Do they know the true history of the conflict between Bionis and Mechonis? The same goes for the average person living in Alrest after the events of XC2? Do they know about the Conduit, or all the truths about the nature of Alrest that Klaus dropped on the party? Do they even know about The Birth of a Universe?
Bitterness against Zanza aside, Shulk felt pity and empathy for Klaus by the end of XC1, so I don't think that would be the crux of the conflict.
I personally don't buy the theory mainly because Shulk and Alvis are the only guys in the XC1 universe who know about Klaus , and the main party is basically the only group of people who actually saw Zanza.
@@emem3112 the former part you are correct. Shulk and Alvis know the truth and the reason why Klaus committed such actions (it also seems as even though everyone in XC2 accepted what he did and appreciated more the fact that he gave life on Alrest, Alvis didn't seem to express such gratitude like Pyra and Mythra when talking to Klaus, his tone was indifferent towards his own creator and his actions. Like he understood why he committed said actions, but also did not approve of them).
For the later everyone on Bionis and Mechonis was aware of what has transpired in the events of Zanza and what Zanza did to the Mechonis and the people on the bionis (destroy their home and eat the people living in the bionis). Everyone expresses their concerns against Zanza and knew he was a tyrannical dastard. But what they didn't know was the person behind Zanza, Klaus.
so i think this theory holds value. The people of Alrest might have the clearer picture, but they do not know of the horrors Zanza has put on the people of Bionis and Mechonis, to them (XC2 cast), he was a man that made a mistake but atone it by giving life on the new world. A benevolent god if you will. Everyone, although they have forgotten about it, still were grateful to their creator when they finally met him (after the dark thoughts that is). This will not be the case for XC1 gang, who had almost everyone dear to them, taken away by Zanza and his malevolent ways and selfish desires of having control over everything.
That being said, i believe that if XC2 gang meet up with XC1 gang, they would be able to come into an agreement when talking about Klaus (that is to say if Shulk ever told his friends the truth about him). it is clear that Klaus might've already known the misinterpretations that would bring when 2 worlds with different perspectives collide, so there must've been a reason as to why he never told the gang of XC2 about his "other self"

I so agree. Klaus is the most important piece of the puzzle. His character arc ties the games together
I really love the theory that the two sides are fighting due to their different beliefs of who Klaus was. So yeah, I really do hope Klaus is in 3. Though, this might be a bit far fetched, part of me wonders and hopes that Galea will also be involved. Maybe the presence of the Mechonis' sword could also indicate her presence?
Oh and while I love the long discussion videos, short videos like this are awesome too.
I think there's a pretty decent chance of Galea being involved in some capacity if Klaus is, especially since they went to the effort to give her more of character in XC2 too. And thanks for the feedback!
@@KayJulers Just wanted to chip in and say that one of Klaus’ final quotes in Xenoblade 2 mentions the possibility of seeing Galea again. With reincarnation being a big thing in previous Xeno games, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a reincarnated Klaus and Galea.
Kind of like how each game keeps taking a step back and showing us more of the Klaus flashback, I hope this game does that as well. Perhaps seeing the world that they live in that is seemingly constantly under attack.
I would love more context to the Saviorite Rebels and the other two Beanstalks. The warring nature of the world and seeking out a solution to stop it does echo the status of Klaus' world too.

To be honest, I really wouldn't like it if Klaus made a direct, physical appearance in XC3. Shulk's act of killing Klaus in order to bring about a world with no need for gods would ring hollow to me if it turns out that he didn't actually die at all. Maybe if he shows up as a spirit or some sort of incorporeal entity it would make more sense, but even then I think it would cheapen the narrative for his death not to have meant anything by allowing him to just show up later on.
I do think that Klaus' actions will have had a ton of repercussions on the world of Aionios, and I really like the theory that Keves and Agnus might be at war due to a fundamental disagreement about Klaus as a character. I do think he will have a major impact on the story, even if indirectly, but if he were to actually show up in the narrative I wouldn't like that at all.
He might appear as a spirit, like Addam.
I haven’t play this in a long time but I thought Shulk was some form of Klaus?

Klaus/Zanza possessed Shulk's body when Shulk was a small child, and when Klaus/Zanza finally revealed himself, Shulk was incapacitated for a while but he came back to life not too long after. At the end of XC1 Shulk and the party all come together to kill Klaus/Zanza with the Monado. Shulk is his own person, separate from Klaus/Zanza, it's just that Shulk's body was possessed by him for a long time.

There’s something so oddly compelling about Klaus, Galea, and the universe that was destroyed. I really hope we get to learn more information about the universe before Klaus did the experiment.
I want to know what's up with the Alrest Galea equivalent, along with Alvis since both of them where some of the biggest figures in the XC1 story half. Klaus seems to be a big figure but we can't forget that this start with the Bionis and Mechonis, and they're Zanza(Klaus) and Meyneth(Galea), or at least parts of them, we have no idea if the splitting of Klaus also happened with Galea

Funny enough, I know there'll be people fuming at the idea of Klaus being there and this game further connecting 1 and 2.
Personally I feel that Klaus being there only by name would be better. I like the concept of both worlds living the aftermath of existing without their creator.
Absolutely fantastic video as always. I really hope we get (REALLY far back) flashbacks of Klaus and galeas life on earth before the conduit event. I wonder if they were romantically involved with each other, it would be interesting to see
It would also be awesome if we had two new characters who turned out to be the respective reincarnations of Klaus and galea, maybe even Noah and Mio but that's a bit too on the nose imo.
I also have this idea in my head that the capital city of Agnus has a large, intricate statue of the architect/Klaus at its center in memory of him. A pivotal moment near the beginning of the game could be Keves invading the city and decapitating his visage, as their ancestors saw the same man as someone completely different - zanza

Personally, i'd really love to see more of a focus on Galea this time round, as her character is never really expanded on even though she is the other side of Klaus/Zanza. Whether she was the guldo in morytha or not still remains a mystery but it'd be nice to see her developed.
Love the video as always. I don't know if I'm talking out of my ass here, but I disagree about Zanza not having depth as a character. He's a hammy villain for sure, but I think the ending of the game gives him a bit of nuance. When I first learned that Zanza "longed for friendship" I initially shrugged it off like a lot of other people did, but then when I went through the story again I realized how it re-contextualized some things, mainly his "mistaken whim" to give the Telethia sentience.
Zanza wants for company in this new empty world, but he's afraid of his creations not needing him anymore and simply doesn't have the capacity to see them as his equals. Because of this he ends up doing pointless things like creating the High Entia, which ends up biting him in the ass once they start making strides to free themselves from his destiny. Kinda made me feel bad for him, maniac that he is. It's possible I may be reading to much into it.
On the topic of Noah's Arc, I'm starting to wonder if the lamb symbolism between Agnus and Keves is more than just a Xenogears reference. Like maybe Noah Saving both nations could be symbolic of the Abrahamic Noah taking two of each animal on his boat. Two nations, two lambs.
This is a really cool theory!! In my opinion I’d be totally cool with klaus’s story being done with 2. I think 2 gave me all I needed for his character and I find that a lot of his intrigue comes from how little we have. Similar to Alvis who I feel has a really strong likelihood on reappearing and we could find out more about him that way. How and why alvis left his original dimension and how he came into contact with Zanza. (I think that would be really cool to see) :D
I agree, I would love to see Klaus back. Perhaps they can explain more of what was happening in the world prior to Klaus beginning the experiment. Who are the Saviorites, etc. It would interesting if the events of XC3 would mimic the events of what was occurring during Klaus' time. Hopefully a more optimistic ending for everyone, however!

I think Alvis and maybe Pneuma will play a similar role in 3 to Klaus in 2. They're almost like his "successors", after all.

If Klaus gets involved it would be nice to know more about the context of the war even if It was in another game that caused the decision scene to play as It did.
And to be honest I Want this Time a story with truly nice characters like sure I really like them but secondary characters like sharla besides two scenes literally has nothing more Than a trope going for her same with the blades in two. So what I'm hoing is that this Time they balance a Little the character development to be on par in all the characters more Than any super crazy plot twist tbh, still knowing more about Klaus is interesting and I would like to see his influence on the world ngl
I really like Klaus as a character and I feel like his actions will have a far reaching effect, if only because of who he was in both universes and the respect that the people of those universes had for the people in the party, who would be the ones to carry Klaus' story back to them. Therefore, I think that their different views of Klaus could be one facet of the conflict, though I don't believe it will be the only one. Though, here on earth we do end up going to war over religious differences a lot, sadly, so who can say.

I think if nothing else, the Conduit will have some sort of presence or role in XC3 because it's the only way I can think of to explain FC's rift and the merging of the two worlds. Whether Klaus returns by extension, we'll have to wait and see. My theory is he is now linked to the Conduit similar to a certain something from a past Xeno game, but elaborating on that goes into spoilers...
Also I really liked the more bite-sized video, it's more digestible imo but I also enjoy the effort you put into the longer analyses. Congrats on 10K btw!

I think that for the sake of making the overall plot more cohesive there needs to be something that binds all the games together aside from a couple characters from the previous 2 existing in the world of 3. In other words Klaus' legacy needs to persist in both nations to a different extent in order to drive the reason why the two nations are fighting. It would also tie into a theme that is very close to human nature, why do we fight?

I do like the shorter videos! I don't have anything against the long-form videos, but I feel some topics just aren't that great for longer videos. Short and focused videos like this will greatly diversify the content of this channel, I feel like!
For sure. Usually my issue is I keep finding things to talk about in my scripts, so shorter videos will be good practice for pacing shorter scripts. Thanks for the input!

Honestly, if Klaus does have some effect, I am strict on it being exclusively postmortem. With his final act in 2 being an attempt to make things as best as possible for his creations, I feel like his character arc has become complete. Both sides of himself have been forced to confront themselves, and in the end, have no choice but to entrust the future to their “children.”
Definitly think he should come back in the story but not physically. It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense raising him from the dead but I like the idea of the two nations fighting about him. In the trailer theres a quote saying "They're not your friends anymore, they're his fuel" which sounds like Zanza

The fog king uses Zanza's battle theme in Future Connected. Perhaps the fog is a gnosified Zanza.

What I want from Xenoblade 3 is a lot of playable characters, but not in the sense of having a big party, something like Laguna's segments in FF8, I want segments where maybe we play in the past using a party of Rex, shulk, melia and nia for example, something like how we get to play as Laura and Gin in torna.(or maybe even a playable Klaus segment where we use the Aion or something, that would be dope)
I think this cast might have the most variance and a high party count based on all the different races we've seen so far. I've spoken with some friends and we all noted wanting flashbacks of Klaus in some capacity, even if he's not playable.

Honestly, I love how religion effectively could be the driving conflict between the two nations. That’s very on-brand for Takahashi. Klaus is a god, but he’s also human. God made humanity in his image. And we as a society are thriving without divine influence, just like the world is in XC3 (technologically). It makes me wonder what kind of world god lived in before making ours. If there was a Torna-sized campaign about the saviorite rebels, that’d be nice. But I also like the ambiguity because that’s how it is in our world too.

Maybe klaus will be present not as a character but a kind of legacy(?) between the 2 worlds. I mean, the obvious stuff shown in the trailer aside, i hope to see a little bit more about klaus world from galea's pov. Somewhere in his final monologue, klaus remembers her questioning himself of his doings. Maybe that's a thing, in the end, or the beggining, she was the one who questioned the original klaus and his doings. The only certainty here is that i will need a lot of tissues through the cutscenes xD

I don't know what the fuck is happening with xb3 but I'm excited all the same and I'll probably be upset given that it'll supposedly mark the end for all 3 games. I just want to see the cast of characters from 1&2 to be happy after they struggled to achieve peace.
I agree. I like a bummer ending, but normally as a one-off or if I know there will be a conclusion to the entire story which uses that sad ending as fuel for a happier one.

As long as it doesn't have any of that gacha bullshit in XC2, I would definitely enjoy it. I was having a grand old time in XC2 until the whole gacha RNG made it so that some treasures as well as areas are locked for me. Fuck that shit.
I think its much more likely that Galea will take the forefront here. Klaus may be mentioned here, but Xenoblade 1 had both half of Klaus and half of Galea, while Xenoblade 2 had the other half of Klaus. I do believe that Galea (in spite of Inferno guldo and the fog king) will serve as the main enemy this time around. They are the progenitors of the conflicts in both games. I also think we will see more from the Saviorite Rebels. Last but not least, its likely we will see something from the Higher Dimensional being of this series finally, tying it into the narrative in X. I say this because of Klaus' line near the end of Xenoblade 2 when he says "Retribution from on high" and Rex ponders the meaning of that. The Conduit is obviously the container for some Higher Dimensional Being, and while I don't think Xenoblade 3 will get into that quite yet, I do think we will learn the fate of Galea and set up the next chapter in the series by explaining more about the Conduit.

I would honestly be down with that. Although we don't get much of her, XC2 did make some efforts to develop her further (I mean she didn't even have a name in XC1 lol), so that could be intentional scaffolding for XC3. I also agree that the presence of Infernal Guldo via the Fog King and the theories that Galea might've been turned into that beast could have further implications for the story of XC3. There's a lot of potential there.
@@KayJulers Yeah. I do think Klaus will be mentioned like you said, just not the focus of lore. Takahashi has played this out in great detail, like he has always wanted to, and he has never really gotten to this point with a fanbase as strong or large as the Xenoblade fanbase is now. I mean, I'm probably way off, the series has a knack for just completely blindsiding everyone. The best thing about this is we'll know in 8 months. If I'm right, I'll be back. Can't wait to see what actually happens.
I think after XC3 we get XCX2 or a DE treatment for XCX.
Maybe even a link between the games, like X is the world were Klaus never used the Conduit

SPOILERS FROM XENOBLADE 1 AND 2:
I hope they explain the backstory of Klaus in XC3, and what exactly is the Conduit.
Klaus doesn't need to appear physically at all to explain that, because Shulk killed Zanza in the end of Xenoblade 1, and the Architect (Klaus other half) from Xenoblade 2 also died because of this, so it wouldn't make sense a physical appearance in the game.

What if Xenoblade Chronicles X is actually Xenoblade Chronicles 10, and it is the first game of another trilogy which is 10, 11 and 12? Kinda like Star Wars. Maybe we'll see another trilogies in the decades to come, but 10, 11, 12 would be next after 1, 2, 3?
Klaus I wouldn't really mind returning in a small way. I would much rather him be more of a driving force for other characters though, because his actions affected everybody in both worlds, and like you said, he likely can't truly atone for what he did. Having each side of the conflict think of Klaus differently, Alrest seeing him as a benevolent creator, Bionis and Mechonis thinking of him as an insane selfish tyrant, would work a lot better than him just being back.
As for Zanza, I think he should just stay dead, having him come back would only really go to damage XC1, and cheapen XC3 by just reusing a villain. I'd much rather them go forward with something new.

I'm hoping for the dynamics for xenoblade 1 and xenoblade 2 and amount of references to both games.
I'm hoping that they make recap kinda like DMC5 's gang/ introduction.
Blades, Driver side I'm hoping Nia would have a soft spot for (Even if she exists onward if she's a flesh eater.) for the homs of this now confused world. Meanwhile, I'm hoping that the friendzoning would stop. I'm thinking both Melia and Nia would work together and stop a situation from ever happening (Sorta like Future Connected's dark energy spiraling into the world at hand.)
this is definitely a stretch, but maybe because noah and mio are "offseers", maybe they could tap into some type of afterlife and directly talk to klaus and galea? i'm only saying this because i would absolutely love to see klaus making amends with galea and they both offer insight to noah and mio on ending the war.

Klaus is more or less the backbone of the story of course he gotta appear somehow. I'd like to see a reference to mayneth as well but that may be a stretch

I'm going to disagree slightly. I wouldn't be against even more lore on Klaus, but you also said it yourself. The merging of the Xenoblade 1 and 2 world is most likely related to Klaus either in conduit's disapperance or Shulk recreating the world. I think that is more than enough for the "end of the klaus saga" so to speak. Again wouldn't be against it, but I think the story can stand with just that bit.
Well meaby the world of XB2 blames the world of XB1 for destorying their world. As the death of Zansa in one world meant the death of Zansa in the other world.
