Beggars can't be choosers. I'm speaking on behalf of myself as I need to move to an extended stay hotel for a few weeks. This place is paradise compared where I'm moving away from.

Extended stay is not in the business of giving charity. They may not be the Hilton but they are making a PROFIT $$$$. So I would not consider anyone who stays there to be a Beggar. Most people staying at extended stays are paying over $1000 a month. That is a MORTGAGE. So they should at the very least be treated with dignity and respect and be given a dwelling that is habitable. (Which is the LAW by the way)

I am no beggar. I stayed because I accepted a job offer in another city. I stayed because the advertising showed it to be good and it was 1 mile to my jobsite. I arrived to find out it is disgusting.

ESA depends on the location and the traffic of its guests. The less traffic, the less wear and tear on the room. They're all worthy of their 2.0-2.5 stars. For long term stays, it's a good deal.

  • @diysai

In my country, this would be considered 4.5 stars at the very least. We don't see bathtubs in even the 5 star hotels unless you book the premium suites. I stayed at the Bellevue extended stay and it was super clean, never had any complaints. My only gripe was the limited breakfast.

I just consider ESA to be shyty camping with terrible, uninvited neighbors. Bears dumping in the woods outside your tent would be better. Healthier. The place (and its staff) knows exactly what it is...and they treat it as such.
If your job requires travel and they schedule you to stay at an ESA, quit that employer immediately. They either have a deal with those crapslingers, or don't give a (long, creative, multi-word expletive) about you.

I don't care if it is rated 5 stars and $10,000 a day. I am going to be proactive inspect the room, clean & sanitize door handles going in and out of the room and bathroom. I am going to clean the bathroom, wash the towels, wash clothes, sheets, pillows, provide my own cups, bowls, sliverware, sanitize tv remote better yet use universal remote or IR Blaster on phone.

    *MUST READ*
I was in one in *Northern CO Springs,* the place was TERRIBLE. The breakfast was disappointing, the entire building was dark, the hard floors were covered in mud, the service was a sort of "so-good-it's-creepy" kinda thing. No amenities at ALL (except laundry.) It was filled with druggies and robbers.
Luckily I was given a suite. It was all nice and roomy, yet the problem is, it was just one room. The place was literally swiss cheese. Especially the view. It was entirely blocked by the little entrance roof. We saw NOTHING.
And you thought you heard it all, well, check out the stairs. First time I went in, I got out crying. The place was terrifying. It was dark, the lights were the ones you would see under a freeway, a huge echo, it had a NASTY nostalgic odor, but why did I come out crying?
The stair room was haunted. I was completely alone that day going up to the third floor for our first out of two room, that one being a regular double bed. Gradually going up I heard ghostly footsteps and creepy creaks and echoes. It was running towards me, I kept looking behind, and no-one was there. I kept going up, and I still kept hearing footsteps going up, running, towards me. I paused for a few minutes, looked, it was no-one. Then the same cycle happened. I stopped at the 2nd floor in giant fear.
I'm really surprised I survived that hellhole for a year in there.
Do not -- *EVER* see the one in Colorado Springs. Seriously, add it to the backrooms. The place should be abandoned.

I would demand that extended stays are at least two star hotels if I ever choose to live in one. Four star and five star would be super nice, but those are too expensive and I can book two star rooms for a good price. My biggest concern would be safety and that is why I would definately want to stay away from the one star dumps. Apart from that, the cleanliness problem of a two star room is an easy fix that I can handle, myself and a chip in the paint is the least of my concerns. 2.5 star is not bad and I would consider that such room, as long as it's at a low price, in a safe area with low crime, and does not have any rodents or bugs. If they accept cats, I can take that in consideration, since cats have a tendancy to hunt down rodents and bugs. If you are looking for something affordable, consider booking a two star room. It's worth the extra cost for the upgrade from a one star dump. Some of those dumps can be a health hazards.

This is the worst place anyone can stay. Dirty rooms, cockroaches, filthy bathrooms, broken fridges, rust inside microwaves and just this afternoon I found a pizza box with crust in it under a bed in our room. I didn't eat that pizza. And the room was supposed to have been cleaned before we were put in. Yet they can't understand why I found roaches in the first room they put me and my kids in. I've left messages but no one seems to care. And unfortunately, that's the posture of their staff. One even said to me that it's a 2 star so I can't expect too much. That's after we had gone 24 hours without hot water in this winter and I was asking g why they didn't even deem it fit to inform guests. Muffins for the grab and go breakfast are not fresh. I've had the worst experience these past 10 days in 2 of their locations in Sterling. One at Catalina Court and the other at the Waterview plz.
