I really like how real you were. Wanting to quit but coming through with that plant repotting. I have a big Monstera too like yours and I’m intimidated to start but I might just have to do so this weekend. Thanks for this video!

Thanks so much for watching! Yeah it was kind of a struggle to stay committed once I saw how big the root ball was, but my plants are still healthy and I’m so glad I decided to go through with it! I hope your repotting is a success!!💕

Excellent!!!! I love the way you included stopping your progress and psyched yourself back into doing it !! I have a much much smaller Monstera that was a gift and it looks like I have three separate growths and have been thinking about splitting them into several plants and you have massively increased my confidence and positivity about the process. You are natural in your process and come across really well and I cannot effectively express how much help you’ve been to me! I look forward to subscribing and checking out more of your videos. You deserve a comment and acknowledgment of a great video. All the best from the U.K and keep posting!!!!

I often soak the root ball in lukewarm warm and then wash off the soil, you will lose a bit of roots still but usually that works really great for me in terms of detangling roots :)

You're hilarious without really trying! I just up-potted my MD and I was going to divvy her up, but I still have a lot of baby leaves. I bought the plant in November and I, literally, only have 2 or 3 leaves that look like a true MD. I'm thinking because she was so rootbound that her leaves weren't splitting. We shall see! Your plant collection is so choice! Newly subbed, too. CHEERS! â˜șâœŒđŸŒ

I have some small monsteras that are over a year old and they also haven’t made any split leaves yet, but ones I’ve placed in brighter light got the split leaves faster. I’ve noticed that I think it really helps to put it in as bright indirect light as possible. I’m sure the repotting will help too! 😊✹

So just something that I do instead of using perlite that I find works amazing for all my plants is using small white or any color Aquarian gravel. make sure you rinse the gravel first a few times to get the gunk off then add to your regular soil mixture it works so so much better than perlite I find. Just thought I’d let you know from one plant parent to another.

I have this idea of having a huge, sprawling Monstera in the corner of my room, and I'm considering getting 3 of the Monsteras from the store (about 65% smaller than yours, and then maybe using a 35 gallon hexagon aquarium with drainage holes drilled in the bottom and putting all three in there. I can't find videos of people consolidating Monsteras, but if the pot was big enough, is there any reason it's inherently inadvisable to put them all together?
If it is possible, I'm also considering buying a cutting from a giant Monstera online and maybe putting it in the middle, so once it finally grows it'll start shooting off some giant leaves as well, would this step _also_ be possible?
I know this is a really specific, speculative question but you seem like you have lots of experience with big pots and obvious Monsteras so I figured I'd try to get your opinion if I could.
    Thank you so much!

Next time try using a garden hose to clear the sand from the roots without damaging any of them. If you have one ofcourse

My plants are doing really great!! The one big nice plant has put out 2 huge new leaves, and the other one grew some funky leaves that don’t look great but it’s finally starting to put out some good new growth. I keep them all in lower light areas so they’re growing slowly but they’re both still very healthy and I think fully recovered from the transplant. It was totally worth it!! Hope your repotting goes well (or went well if you did it already)! 😊

Styrofoam is used sometimes for succulents to help drainage. Just a repurposing tactic. As to the health of the plant from the toxins of styrofoamđŸ€·đŸŒâ€â™€ïžđŸ€·đŸŒâ€â™€ïž

Interesting- thanks for telling me! I think it’s possible that I normally just never feel the white stuff in soil and have assumed it’s perlite but maybe it’s styrofoam more often than I thought! đŸ€”âœš

I have one too ! I'm nervous to seperate it. Im up in canada so its getting quite cold here. But it gets a grow light for 15 hours a day. Should I try to seperete ?

Wow a grow light for 15 hours a day sounds like your plants must be very happy 😊! I bet as long as it’s not right next to a super drafty door or window it will be fine in the winter, it might just grow slower. I was nervous about separating mine too but the roots ended up being so thick and strong that it wasn’t that hard to untangle them, it just took some patience. I think if you want to separate your plants you should go for it! 😀👍✹
