  • This video is all about welding Nonferrous metal (copper, nickel, bronze, brass, Gunmetal, Aluminium) with a stick welder. This video is only for educational purposes that these metals can be welded with stick welder as steel, but you need a specific welding electrodes to weld these.
    Welding Rod Types in detail:-
    T237/Cu237 Aluminum Bronze Welding Electrode
    In line with: GB ECuAl
    Quite: AWS ECuAl-A2
Details: T237 is an aluminum-manganese bronze electrode with excellent wear and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in the welding of copper alloy, aluminum bronze and copper, and cast iron.
    T107/Cu107 copper electrode
    meets: GB ECu
    quite: AWS ECu
Note: Cu107 is based on copper as the core, the coating is a low-hydrogen copper electrode. Good mechanical properties, good corrosion resistance to the atmosphere and seawater, not suitable for welding oxygenated copper and copper. With DC reverse connection, the arc is stable and well-formed.
Uses: It is mainly used for welding conductive copper bars, copper heat exchangers, seawater conduits for ships and other copper structural parts. For inorganic acids (except nitric acid), organic acids have corrosion resistance, suitable for welding of copper, silicon bronze and brass.
    T307/Cu307 white copper electrode
    meets: GB ECuNi-B
Description: Cu307 is a low-hydrogen type coating Cu70Ni30 copper-nickel electrode. This electrode has a stable arc and good weld formation.
    T307/Cu307 white copper electrode
    meets: GB ECuNi-B
Description: Cu307 is a low-hydrogen type coating Cu70Ni30 copper-nickel electrode. This electrode has stable arc and good weld formation.
    T227/Cu227 phosphor bronze electrode
    meets: GB ECuSnB
    Quite: AWS ECuSn-C
Details: T227 is a phosphor bronze electrode with a certain strength, ductility, toughness, wear-resistance, and corrosion resistance. It is suitable for copper, brass, phosphor bronze and another welding.
    T237/Cu237 Aluminum Bronze Welding Electrode
    In line with: GB ECuAl
    Quite: AWS ECuAl-A2
Details: T237 is an aluminum-manganese bronze electrode with excellent wear and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in the welding of copper alloy, aluminum bronze and copper, and cast iron.
Notice: the aluminum alloy welding rod is used for a special aluminum electric welding machine
Name: Aluminum 109 pure aluminum electrode
    Standard: GB/T3669E1100 AWS A5.3E1100
Description: Aluminum 109 is made of pure aluminum as the core and the coating is based on the product name: aluminum 109 pure aluminum electrode
Description: Aluminum 109 is an aluminum electrode with pure aluminum as the core and the coating as the base. Therefore, it is applied to the welding of aluminum and aluminum alloys which do not require high joint strength. It adopts DC power supply, welding rod and positive connection, and short arc rapid welding. Arc stability is poor and the splash is large.
    Welding current: 110-150A
Name: Aluminum 209 Aluminum Silicon Welding Rod
    Standard: GB/T3669E4043 AWS A5.3E4043
Description: Aluminum 209 is an aluminum alloy electrode with aluminum-silicon alloy as the core and the coating as the base. The DC power supply is used, the welding rod is connected to the positive connection, and the short arc is used for rapid welding. The arc stability is slightly worse and the splash is larger.
Name: Aluminum 309 Aluminum Manganese Welding Rod
    Standard: GB/T3669E3003 AWS A5.3E3003
Description: Aluminum 309 is an aluminum alloy electrode with aluminum-manganese alloy as the core and the coating is salt-based. It is characterized by high weld strength and corrosion resistance similar to aluminum. Used for welding aluminum-manganese alloys, pure aluminum, and other aluminum alloys.
Uses: Used for welding aluminum-manganese alloy, pure aluminum and other aluminum alloys.
    Welding current: 80-150A
    Name: Aluminum 409 aluminum-magnesium electrode
    Standard: GB/T3669E5183 AWS A5.3E5183
Description: Aluminum 409 is an aluminum alloy electrode with aluminum-magnesium alloy as the core and the coating as the base. Casting and forging aluminum alloy suitable for welding or surface surfacing magnesium, high strength, good forge ability and good corrosion resistance.

Great video. Must be tricky because each one behaves so differently

Yea with stick it’s pretty hard to get nice looking welds on these metals. But nothing a little grinding can’t fix. I know you can weld, I have seen your other videos. Props for showing the real stuff and not sum best weld...one out of a 100. If you can justify the expense a TIG setup is best. Thanks for the video!

Has been years since I welded non-ferrous metals. I do recall getting a much smoother weld bead. Most certainly it does take a feel and coordination for it to happen.

I thought that aluminum was the toughest non-ferrous metal to weld, but all of them are.
This video and many others are proof that I prefer to weld on steel and stainless. By the way, that nickel rod is commonly used on cast iron.

Thanks for the video! But please, WHERE do you get any of these???
I have googled and searched and called and gone to welding store (who look at me as if I am from another planet) and found nothing available.

You should try them on mild steel , it might work better , .. for instance T237/Cu237 Aluminum rod is not for aluminum and copper phosphor and silicon bronze stick to steel.

  • @churchofthetransfiguration5033

Where did you purchase your T207/Cu207 rods? Thank you for this video...

If people leave comments criticizing your welds, you should objectively explain the situation without being condescending. This is an informational video after all, and you are appreciated for creating it, however leave your ego out of it. It's really in bad taste to fire back at those that might have a different opinion than yours. Namaste.

Yeah buddy i definitely pay attention to your words, but on social media there are people who just come to criticize other people work, because that is there main objective I cant convince them with explanation. So now I try my best to avoid them without saying anything. Thanks for giving your time have a great day namaste 🙏.

This is the real and raw deal: Let's be honest, stick welding is definitely not about cosmetics, it get the job done and it's dirty cheap, if you wanna nice looking welds to buy a TIG setup your little punks ! ;-)

If electrodes were flux-cored, then maybe those welds will be prettier. Hopefully less smoke will be guaranteed.

you are right these metals don't flow like Mild steel and Stainless steel during welding. very hard to weld these metals.

  • @iwesley9030
    @iwesley9030 Před rokem +1

    Ack!
Something is wrong with the setup, like polarity or possibly using wrong voltage type.. or maybe left the rods out in the rain and dried them out.
Most of those rods are very capable of making much better welds on those metals.
But I have to agree; it's poor welding at best. I'm a little baffled at the fact that it's been made into such a presentation as if it were successful
