  • The African Export-Import Bank in Cairo has launched an African Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Programme under its Creative Africa Nexus Initiative, CANEX, during the third Intra-African Trade Fair. The CANEX African Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Programme is the newest vertical within the CANEX program featuring celebrity chefs from Africa and the Caribbean participating in masterclasses, live cooking demonstrations, and conversations with culinary experts. The inaugural session concluded with a live demonstration, dubbed the “Jollof Wars” to highlight the unique flavors and cultural diversity of Jollof rice with a competition between Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal.

The is true. I remembered when I was young during early 50s and 60s at Cape Coast, most of my neighbors were Nigerians. The elementary school I attended Methodist primary school half of the students were Nigerians. Unfortunately, when Nkurumah was overthrown in February of 1966,the pro western government of late prime minister Bush asked the Nigerians to leave in 1969. The good people of Cape Coast allowed many of them to stay to compete their secondary and university education.

My first respect to the Nation Senegal for inventing JOLLOF rice. To Ghana & Nigeria these 2 countries advertised the JOLLOF RICE-- as said by the legend Bob Marley, legalized and I will advertise it. That said, it should comes as no surprise that Ghana won and she continues on this path for long time to come.why? Ghana has another cuisine called WAAKYE or waachey also using rice and beans enjoy greatly by many foreigners not excluding NIGERIANS. The question then is how on earth can any country minus Senegal can take thst crown when the MOTHERLAND-- GHANA is around. Long live Ghana long live Africa sovereignty

True. In Senegal it is not actually from the whole country. It is strictly from the Jollof/Wolof ppl n all other tribes associate it with them. The original jollof has a lighter color ( cos the actual tomato fruit is blended with onions to form the base - this is called thieb bu wehh or benachin Bu wehh by jollof Gambians. The one with tomato paste is thieb bu honkh or benachin bu khokha by Gambian Wolofs. The one with fish is thiebu jenn or benachini jenn . There is one with meat ( yapp), dried fish(kechah) etc. in Senegal and Gambia it is strictly a dish created by jollof/Wolof tribe.

The problem of Africa is corrupt politicians.

Not just corrupt but evil old people leading innocent youth.
It's only in Africa that 70 year old politicians still want to stay in power.

Off course ghana jollof is the best. Nigeria food never tastes good. They add all ingredients together in a pot at once so when u eat it you feel like throwing up.

I think we do not need any agency to serve as referee to settle our jollof rice competition between Ghana and Nigeria. That's the only thing we have us brothers to argue on aside Afro beat and high life music. 😂😂😂😂😂
