I Skimboard & Surf and I can agree that Skimboarding is difficult to learn and you will take a lot of falls on the sand. But personally Surfing is harder because of the amount of time you actually get being on a wave surfing. When you really think about it you could be out in the line up for 3 hours and only actually “surf” for a couple minutes. Which is why it takes years of experience to get good, it’s not like any other sport out there.

Oh man White Plains is the worst place to learn to surf imo! I went there with a friend and gave up on surfing for two whole years 😂 We got smashed, drug down the beach by the rip, were just flat exhausted and didn’t catch one wave. I started learning to surf in Haleiwa in summer two years later and fell back in love.
I plan on learning how to surf while I’m in Hawaii, I’m actually excited to try it out, since I snowboard I’m hoping it kinda transfers over a little bit, I’ve got 5 years in Waikiki 😂 so hopefully I’m decent by then
@@HIderrick Just an old school Thought. It took me over a year to learn how to 🏄 only because it was 1970 the leash was not invented until 1974. So "use the leash" it will save you time! & Yes paddling to the outside break of the wave is very hard! But you'll be in tremendous shape once you able too do it! 🤙
Its strange how that works. You look in shape and you can skim witch requires fitness, but the moment you tried to surf you were to tired to get up. Different type of srength ....its really brutal in the beginnig

I learned to surf in a week all you really have to do is master timing
I do both too and surfing is wayyyyy easier it took me a while to master skim boarding and it took me only a week to learn to surf 6-8ft waves

Seems like you skim well. If u improve ur arm stamina and get paddling well you’ll be leagues ahead of any beginner.
