      Andrew Lloyd so how effective is the hip flexer

    • @SkighAthletics
      @SkighAthletics  Před 5 lety +57

      D'Angelo Russell The main reason I always warm up / suggest warming up your hip flexor is to take tension off the quads. It’s a muscle that can be difficult for basketball players to warmup considering they rarely get in a full-sprint like a football player or track athlete. Activating the hip flexor distributes the pressure throughout smaller muscles so the quad can perform better and pain free.

      Nicholas Basquiat Nicholas, that’s essentially what I did in the video! My warmup isn’t anything heavy or explosive - it’s all relative to my max lifts. My warmups activate my smaller muscle groups and get me warmed for my plyos. And I always go plyos then strength - I agree!✈️

    • @SkighAthletics
      @SkighAthletics  Před 4 lety

      Jay Dee I agree. It’s definitely dependent on the individual and their body types. I could play basketball every day and never touch a weight and I sincerely doubt I’d ever jump as high as I do now (now = after dieting, jumping plyometrics and heavy weight training).

      James71695 I think progressively overloading upper body movements gives me a higher ceiling for strength for my lower body and just keeps me “balanced” / grounded.
