you should all get a grip on reality. the reason parks like this close is because they dont make enough money to invest in new rides. and slowly bit by bit they become old and unviable. owning a park is a buissness not a charity. if you want to blame anyone look at your self or your friends and think how many spend money in a place like this and how many spend it abroad on holiday. good luck to the new owners. i just hope they dont lose all there money like pat collins family did at barry island

      jason dunn well said!
I see too many negative comments on videos like this of people calling the Thompson family worse than shite for closing both Frontier Land Morecambe and Pleasure Land Southport, saying things like "I hope they burn in Hell for closing our park and destroying our coasters"!
Who are these people that think they own the park or coasters?
They forget about the fact that the Thompsons built up the parks including the coasters and invested a fortune in each park.
Morecambe park had been loosing a fortune as WestEnd Amusements so Jeffrey Thompson invested a fortune retheming the park to Frontier Land which lasted a few years before loosing money again, plus the council wouldn't let him expand it or build bigger or better rides so he cut his losses, now morecambe is dead and it's the council to blame.
As you say it's not a charity, its a business and it's not viable to keep it open if it's loosing money.
Same with Pleasure Land Southport, having invested much into the park bringing in rides from Frontier Land and even building TraumaTizer costing millions not long before the park closed and building a new entrance isn't the actions of a family that doesn't care about the park or wanted to see it close.
However it was also loosing money again it's not a charity, and the rides and park belonged to the Thompsons so they have every right to do with them as they please.
Having invested millions in TraumaTizer it made sense for them to take it to Blackpool.
Smaller rides were sold to other parks and thinking Pleasure Land would not reopen but remain closed like Frontier Land the Cyclone was sadly broken down like the Texas Tornado was.
That's not the end of the world though, the blueprints for both coasters still exist and could be rebuilt like the scenic railway at Pleasure Land Margate.
I think people need to appreciate more the memories they have of the parks the Thompsons built rather than getting angry they're gone or not what they were, afterall, they opened Frontier Land and Pleasure Land as Sister Parks to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, they weren't rival companies they bought out to close down to eliminate competition!
