Is it fair to say Queen’s Live Aid performance is arguably the greatest 20 minutes in music history? It’s definitely up there, as is Queen as one of the greatest bands of all time.
It's most definitely the greatest in music history. Nothing can come close to it. Be it amount of people gathered, singing along, common ground in terms of music in general. Not even including the performance in and off itself. Inarguably, the most significant and greatest performance of music ever.
@@timbaud5704I don’t doubt it was outstanding, but I don’t think we can really rank a performance that went unrecorded as none of us can actually see or hear it for ourselves.
Possibly. One I really love, though it is actually about 10 minutes, is Lynard Skynard doing Freebird at Knebworth, England 1976. Its the famous show where they opened for the stones and walked down the special "tongue" walkway/stage set up for the stones and did one of the all time great bits of live guitar work I've ever heard. Also, there are some times when The Grateful Dead were really ON and did something spectacular in improvisation. But this one is probably what I'd personally go with.
The attention to detail in these scenes is amazing. Everything from the way Mercury sang the songs to little things like his adjusting the sound before breaking into “Bohemian Rhapsody” and the half empty Pepsi/beer cups on top of the piano are immaculate. This is a masterclass in cinematography.
They must've changed something, cause a lot of scenes with the camera sucked. Liked when they was talking in a restaurant, and the camera would be pointed to someone, as someone is talking...

One of the most incredible concert movies that have featured one of the most popular concerts, Live Aid. My Grandparents and my mother were there to experience the true live aid.
When Freddie (Malek) played the audience, I feel like the movie displayed the group in awe, and the participation of the audience so much better than what the camera technology would allow at the time. Because any recording of this just doesn't capture the sentimental values that the audience experienced (ofc, because it wasn't able to), but it so good to see it in the movie.
My favourite part of the movie is that when he talks to the band before they go on, you can hear Dire Straits blasting Sultans of Swing. I recorded the original concert when it went to air, and this is totally what they would have heard. I still have the old VHS somewhere. I love Dire Straits way more than Queen but their performance was excellent, and they'd been off the radar for a while.

Miss you Freddy...
What a master piece.
Yup I agree 10/10 movie by Fox
Wish I was alive in the 1980s so I could experience this. No social media, no shit music, just vibes.
Honestly, I think that THIS was the "cherry on top" that won Rami the OSCAR!!! He NAILED this scene!!!
Took my mother to see this live aid fell on her 15th birthday. It was amazing to see her reaction since she raised me on Queens music
YOU took YOUR mother to see this, which fell on HER 15th birthday?? 😂😂😂
I love Freddy Mercury so much that I wish he were still alive and would give the best concert of 2023 and hear his legendary voice again
"Hammer to fall" is such a happy upbeat song! Love it!
If this doesn't give you goosebumps...I question your human credentials.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
A great tribute to both Freddie Mercury and his band Queen
Rami Malek did an outstanding job in this movie, I honestly can't think of someone better suited for this role either.
I remember live aid...the artist weren't sure about it and some of the acts were like the local country fare....
Then this happened...Queen hadn't been around for a while...so the put on a simple world tour grade medly of there hits...and for the next 25 minutes...Queen ruled the word..
18:36 you hear those people, they love 'em, and you thought they would never be big or famous, now you must admit you were wrong and they are huge and loved by all
They were big 10 years before live aid ffs…they just got bigger in the 80s
I watched this live back in 1985 and Queen absolutely had the best performance of all the bands that's day.
Me quito el sombrero ante este estupendo actor! Rami Malek es maravillosa esta actuacion! BRAVOOOOO!!!!!!!
One of the most incredible concert movies that have featured one of the most popular concerts, Live Aid. My Grandparents and my mother were there to experience the true live aid.
❤
When Freddie (Malek) played the audience, I feel like the movie displayed the group in awe, and the participation of the audience so much better than what the camera technology would allow at the time. Because any recording of this just doesn't capture the sentimental values that the audience experienced (ofc, because it wasn't able to), but it so good to see it in the movie.
Best concert recreation ever ❤️
Rami malek hats off you
84-85 is the peak years of the music history
Watched the movie many times and yet, I still want to watch it again!!!
To 100% honest, I wouldn’t have minded if they played the full performance in the movie. But, I understand why they trimmed it.
Truly moving and profound film. Excellent performer a from the entire legendary group! ❤
Best film of 2018. Parents and I went to see this when it came out in theatres back then. Had my mum in tears.
Fantastic band. The reaction of his closest people on stage as he performed is amazing. So sorry about what happened to him in reality.
7:06 the legend.
He voice puts tears in my eyes..So amazing 😍🤩
Beautiful recreated scene... he came in and swept... :)
I was born at the concert, inside the stadium. It was a wonderful experience that I'll never forget. My mom and dad were not going to miss it for the world, not even my birth.
A wonderful experience that you’ll never forget??? Yeh of course, coz you remember being born don’t you 🙄🙄
Spectacular 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The fact that this live concert scene was the FIRST SCENE shot is incredible!!
It's terrible planning on the production side
The attention to detail is quite simply outstanding. I wonder how those four men felt as they were walking offstage at the pinnacle of their career?
Performance inacreditável!
Powerful 💥 from South Africa 🇿🇦
Queen are the champions...
I was fortunate enough to see Queen live in Boston, Massachusetts.
Gotta say while listening to it. Some says there is only seven wonders in the world but and I would say there is 8th too and that is "MUSIC".
