- Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in this video game adaptation of Terminator 3: Rise of The machines as the eponymous Terminator Three Colon Rise of The Machines. That's his full name. Regardless, between its abysmal controls, horrifying character faces and awful sound design, this is categorically the worst game we have ever played (...in 2020 (...so far)). Interestingly, and in a rare instance, T3 actually spawned two different licenced games based on the movie. It would seem that Atari even acknowledged just how p*ss poor the first attempt, "Rise of the Machines" was, by naming the follow up "The Redemption". It was actually a must better conceived, third person, arcade style shooter. It actually featured Arnold's likeness and character model in game, and was overall a much more polished experience. On the negative side, however, it was an infuriatingly difficult experience beyond the first couple of levels, and required much trial and error practice to progress.
I remember redemption, I never made it back into the past. It was so hard for me as a child lol
Nice tidbit! Thanks for the update, the only game I remember not being terrible(at minimum it was fun) was the shooter in the arcade. Even that may have been crap and I don't recall because I was young lol
Well that's just straight up thanks to games like Mega Man and Sonic, that take multiple times but you never feel like you're wasting time. i might hunt Redemption down. I think my brother had it.
This almost feels like it was originally designed to be a light gun game

They spent 95% of their budget on Arnold's voice, 4% of their budget on the reeeealllly long opening cutscene, and the remaining 1% on the latest greatest fuzzy spark technology. The remainder of the game was made by unpaid interns.
Some of these games could actually benefit from the work of unpaid interns. The ones with ambition will do a better job
The worst part of it all is that you are probably right on every aspects. The video game industry was a shitty world even back then (less shitty than now but still a crappy one).
@@Heroinedown nah, that was the golden age of 3d games. There was an occasional stinker, true, but the overall quality and passion put into making games during that era was very high.
It's not the best part of my week, it's just better than most (of the other stuff)

So I just introduced a friend to your channel and decided to watch this latest upload with him, and my unending tears of laughter at the robotic ‘Woooowww!’ parts may have put him off
As a lad I worked in the mall in a particularly silly store called Gadzooks(yeah I'm old shush lol) and the older dudes that worked there were super into Arnold and the movies. Needless to say we spent many days quoting Arnie "Hi do you have this in an extra large?" and then give them the dead stare and say "I'll be back" every other activity was dotted with "get down" and "get to the break room" "get to the register" you get the point lol, but those were some great memories and times. Thanks to those fellas and Arnold for making my crap mall job a bit more interesting.

Re4s enemies, level design, and bosses were all designed with the controls in mind. It's shitty controls when they don't fit with the game.

And I simply explained that capcom was using strategy in development for the controls. This game clearly didn't put as much into it. Are you seriously going to argue that fact? re4 is one of the most sold and ported games of all time. My liking it really shouldnt concern you lol. Like, MGS 1, 2 and 3, I fucking hate the controls for. Can't stand it. I know a lot of people dig the traditional MGS controls but I can't take it, which sucks, because I can objectively recognize them as great games in their own right that I would probably love if I could control differently. It's just a personal hangup for me. So yeah, maybe don't attack others for your personal hangups? I was merely pointing out OPs comparison as the hyperbole it is.
@@DL-df3lg Another weird deflection. The game has bad controls. It shouldn't be that difficult to just say, "yeah, I've criticized this exact same thing in other games because it's bad, and it's hypocritical of me to defend it in this one instance just because I like the game as a whole."

I was "forced" to watch this movie, the night before it came out, I was working at a movie multiplex, and I was one of lead "screeners" there. I came away asking why it was filmed...

This game is so confusing it leaves me with so many questions like why don't they use T-1000 liquid technology for their tanks vehicles as well? And why doesn't the Billy Ray Walrus Pacman in the intro eat Samus, Megaman, Sonic or Mario? And why does the Triple jump intro have retro pixel game characters when they play mostly old but newer 3D games? And why can't they ever hire the same person to play John Connor twice in these films, is it in the contract or is he supposed to be like Dr. Who on speed?
The whole thing with John Connor started off when the actor who played him into came down with a severe case of drug dependency and was in rehab so was unavailable for the third movie as apparently was Linda Hamilton so they killed her off. As for why he's been played by different people multiple times well it doesn't help the last two or three times they've done movies he was either killed off like in the most recent one, serious issues again with the actor as in Christian Bale didn't want to come back after doing salvation. I mean the short answer is the actor doesn't want to do the roll again.
I thought this WAS Terminator 3 Redemption when I clicked, which I can say for certain, is infintely more fun even if just to look at.

To be honest I do enjoy Terminator 3, I wouldn't say it wrecked the franchise. Now Dark Fate is the movie that wrecked the franchise.... actually it killed the franchise.

I'm not even half way through, and already I'm baffled by the dialogue. Apparently "let's kick some ass" was ok, but "get your ass down here" was too much and they had to censor it. Brilliant.

I’m glad someone remembers this. I rented it from blockbuster in college. You can beat the game by just holding the one main shoot button.

They probably meant home console I guess. As that was arcade. I mean no one really considers the T2 the "arcade" games for Genesis/mega drive,Gameboy, SNES etc the same game at all.
Also that was pretty much the only truly good Terminator game.

The worst thing in that opening cinematic is she’s standing directly behind what looks to be a janky recreation of a Javelin anti armor weapon system. The back blast would have killed her instantly. Stupid Terminator, he clearly didn’t pay attention during week 4 of basic combat training.
Redemption was a really fun game for what it was. So over the top, you could also press like R2 and hear Arnie lines over and over. Pretty good fun.
Ben adding an extra beat to the Terminator motif has me absolutely triggered.
At least there was a really janky representation of Arnie is this game, unlike Morgan Freeman in Tom Clancy‘s: Morgan Freeman. The Schwarz really isn’t looking his best though...

21:00 actually there are a few speedrun videos, it's a bit hard to find since there aren't many playthrough of T3 games, the only thing that no one did was uploading a playthrough of T3 The Redemption demo that's in ROTM game. The difference of ROTM and Redemption is that the ROTM follows the main story of the movie in First Person Shooter way, The Redemption is a Third Person version and it doesn't follow the the story, The Terminator gets defeated in the CRS Facility where the T-X tries to control him, in The Redemption, she'll sends The Terminator back to the future in a alternative setting where he's has to go back to the present

T3 The Redemption is a completely different game. Third person over the shoulder camera, and the controls are much better.

Assuming Terminator 3: Redemption is the XBOX exclusive version of this, it was VERY different but had a borderline impossible second level where you have to race a pickup truck VS a sportscar, and if you make the slightest mistake, it becomes unwinnable.
I had to pause the video multiple times just to make sure some constructive vehicles weren’t reversing in my backyard.
I read your comment, instantly forgot it, and then wondered why I could hear trucks reversing and though I was going insane.

I had this game on PS2 then upgraded to a PS3 with the backwards compatibility and it refused to play this game so Sony wanted me to forget about it
