  • Check out the first pistol from Daniel Defense they have ever done. Did they fix all the issues from the original Hudson H9 or is this design just destined to be plagued with problems? Check it out in this review.

I was so excited to buy one, but I keep seeing the same reliability issues. Thank you for your review!

So I have one and the issues I was having is as follows. When you rack a round into the chamber it would not go into battery. You had to slap the slide forward. Second when you ejected a round out it would get caught in the ejection port. After shooting 200 rounds which is a break in period. No issues with those two things. Some have said it was key holing. That was with federal ammunition. I shot Remington 115grn and Winchester 115grn. I did not observe any key holing. I do have an RMA with DD. After shooting I noticed the sight may be off. But I’m going back again so will see if it was either the sights or me. I do have a red dot for it. A EoTech EFLX that I also want to try out. I like the low recoil. Low bore access. I’m a 1911 guy also and I like it’s like that as well.

Hey! Fellow 1911 guy here as well. Thanks for providing an progress report that aligns with the reviews I've been seeing. Would you say that the majority of issues are due to guide rod spring and ejector alignment? Did you experience fail to feed and eject issues with a partially loaded magazine? I wonder if a stiffer spring in the mag would help alleviate lockup into battery.

I have a newer one and it has no reliability issues BUT I find the gun very hard to grip in a comfortable, natural way without touching the slide and I really don’t like the sight picture.
I also had accuracy issues and I’m not sure if it was the sight or grip issue or something else.

      Btw I tested w/ 115 and 124 FMJ and 147 JHPs.

    What ammo are you running.

The DD H9 doesn't like 115gr. Ammo, It's a nice weapon , but it is ammo sensitive. 124gr. Ammo works better. Low grain ammo will not cycle.

    I would give it a 3.8…
