Red Cross flag never should have been out at all. I was at the race right by the finish line. Vince stalled the bike on the finish line take off and skidded down the back side but never even fell over. He wasn’t hurt or even on the track at the end of the race when everyone got the penalty. He was still sitting on his bike just waiting for the race to finish. It was way more dangerous to have people roll that jump and potentially get landed on if someone didn’t see the flag. No way to see the flag until you were just about to go off the take off and already committed to jumping. I have no idea what the finish line flagger was thinking. Entire thing makes no sense.

100% agree. Medical flags are for hurt riders who need medical attention. Not for guys whose bike won’t start. Should have been a yellow flag directing them to the left side of the take off. Also if there was a need for a red cross flag on the finish line they should put it up at the start of the turn, not at the face of the takeoff. If you see it that late it’s too late to let off.

The red cross flag incident is wholly on the AMA. It was not adequately displayed so that the riders could see it in time to slow enough to not jump and it also appears that it was not called for in the first place as Vince was not down and requiring medical intervention. The AMA should be embarrassed.

They should put something like a traffic light at the finish line. Then it would be visible. Traffic lights have green yellow and red. There are ways to prevent jumping on a cross flag.🤙💯🙏🇺🇸✌️

Never a Barcia Hater Never a Barcia Fan but the way he handled this situation, he addressed it straight forward. He honestly seemed concerned for this younger kids health. I can't help but be a fan after him handling this like a Man 👍

It's standard practice for Barcia to try and minimize the consequences after he Takes out Riders! He knows Fans are Gullible. He thinks we're Moron's that just swallow anything he feeds us? He Makes our Sport look like Hillbilly Trash? And it's not! SX/MX should be accepted by Mainstream Sports Fans? But People like Barcia remove the legitimacy from our Sport! To get respect as a Sport? You have to be respectable? And Sportsmanship is what Men of Honor Practice! People see Barcis's move and think there's no Rules or Integrity! Barcia See's Jett Making everyone push the limit's. And he isn't keeping up! So he lashes out at Jett. Look at his angle of approach in the turn? Nobody would approach a turn at that angle. He wasn't trying to evenake the turn? He was almost going backwards!

As I’ve said before good job filling us in on Moto around the world. Listening to this and enjoying it so much I asked myself why on other instances do I not feel the same when hearing your take on things, well here’s my conclusion you’re a new voice to most of us even though you are very accomplished in MXGP so when a NEW friend starts talking like we’ve known each other for years it rubs me wrong, my suggestion is let us get to know you your GREAT at being a Moto Journalist and we’ve needed that for a long time. For me it’s during the banter part’s when you go Steve Mathis type, just give us some more time because you are what our sport needs. ❤🙏🤔
5 riders jumped on the Red Cross Flag out of a 22 rider field, when it was waiving for a full lap... Pretty easy conclusion in my eyes. 🤷♂️🤘

The red cross flag should be presented at the approach to the jump.
Coming out of a corner you are picking your line to hit the jump, not looking 3 feet above the top far right hand corner of the jump.
They should have given the Red Cross flag to the 30 second girl. She ain’t scared

How many times does the AMA have FU a red flag? So, half the field does not see the flag, and it's them, not you? Oh, and BTW, that changes gate picks for the last heat and whatever that would have been, it almost certainly would not include the Barcia-Lawrence incident.

The red cross flag incident, firstly was just mind blowingly stupid for the AMA .. but it is interesting that, the only way Tomac got the win in that moto was that he was watching Jett jump the finish jump from the other side of the flag stand, and in doing so his attention was drawn to the flag, so he saw it. And for the next 5 riders right after him, nobody else saw it. If it weren't for Tomac watching Jett jump the finish jump from that side of the track, he too would have jumped. Tomac was gifted that win.
Are we past judging Webb when we watch Paris supercross yet? I remembered everyone saying he wouldn’t be anywhere near the top this season and yet here he is again, in the top 2 in points and only 8 points back with 5 rounds to go. I’m not surprised one bit that he’s the only rider challenging Jett at this point. Dudes been a dog for years. It’s nice to see people finally seeing it.
That was a crazy night of racing, albeit very exciting. As for the red cross flag it looked like a wet noodle just hanging there.

flag placement: you obviously cannot have the official AMA finish line flag man run down to the corner to wave the red cross. HOWEVER, you really really need to send SOMEONE down to the corner waving SOMETHING, because it was literally impossible to see the red cross flag coming into the turn, and the finish line jump was immediately after it. also, you don't need one of the rare "red cross flaggers" doing the corner work. iunno. it felt to me like a speed trap of sorts. i understand enforcing the penalties. just think the way the track flagging was handled (considering the layout) was poor and was the first step to preventing this issue (rather than "riders just weren't honoring red cross flag").

he asks questions. tomac famously doesn't answer questions. that said, the one question lewis is talking about was kinda sketchy. he asked tomac on press day a question with a lead-in that was something like this: "hi eli. i believe starts are all about confidence. you start well when you feel confident and poorly when you lack it. so...how do you feel about your confidence and ability to get a good start?" now I'm not saying Lewis intended it to come off that way, but I can see how Tomac would hear the lead-in and then the question and think "are you really calling me weak willed? fuck you. :stare:"

I sort of perked up though because you were talking to eli about starts before the quest. you'd both established the fact that his starts aren't good this year. and then your question began with a statement I could see the rider taking as an accusation: "I believe that starts are mostly confidence or mental or any of that stuff. do you agree?" when you got to the "mostly confidence" part, my interior monologue when "uh oh! this isn't going to go over well." but it's whatever. tomac was never going to give you anything anyway. apparently deegan is following in those illustrious PR/injury footprints as well. sigh.

I think that red cross flag needed to be sooner on the track, and it was just hanging there, no movement. When you come around the corner, you aren't looking for a stagnant flag.

I'd be surprised to see Coop keep racing 4-5 years. He's not the kind of guy to keep racing if he can't win. I'd say 3 more years max. He was considering calling it quits even before going back to Yamaha

Jett got hit because of his own lack of experience. He made a stupid move way too early in the race. Going deep and coming up the inside puts yourself in harms way as he left no place for riders behind him. Really dumb move for the first lap. He can do this later when the riders spread out and there is time to do so if there is a gap behind him but on the first lap all the riders are still bunched up. Very poor decision on his part.

I new several month ago already that one day Barcia would take down Jett Lawrence. Barcia is an extremely reckless and dangerous rider and should be suspended from the race series.
That was a barcia incident. It's not a racing incident. May not have been completely purposeful, but we still call those barcia insidents.

First, with Barcias history, I can't get there that it wasn't intentional.
With the red cross incident, I agree with several on here, the red ❌️ shouldn't have been out. The rider in question wasn't hurt, and clearly out of the way. If you watch any race with the red ❌️ out, flaggers are everywhere waving it, along with yellow. Now watch the replay and as the 18 makes the last left turn towards the finish, you see a flagger looking directly at the finish line with his back toward the coming home #18. No flag, no waving bikes off, nothing. And this is the second and final lap! 18 took the white flag with no red cross, everyone behind him had the red cross on the white flag.... I believe a mistake was made by the finish line flagger, and the AMA let it go for #3.... js

Jett was taking a racing line and barcia was barely going to make the berm and was nearly going backwards on track as he passed apex of corner !
because he's known for taking ppl out. it was unintentional. he was racing friese. jett was racing hunter. neither one of them showed much awareness of what was going on outside of their tunnel vision for their respective "opponents." the turn was also incredibly wide (too wide). if you honestly think barcia took him out on purpose, then iunno what else to say except you're letting your emotions make decisions for you. was it more barcia's fault than jett's? yeah. sure. was he trying to torpedo jett into next week? give it a rest, dude.
@@daneg a rider should be able to cut down on the exit of a turn writhing some moron canon balling across into him . Barcia was like 6 bike lengths behind and should have had the awareness ! He could see jett , jett couldn’t see him ! In a car if you hit someone from behind you are liable every time !

@@Ozfreerider2504 you're unhinged, my friend. do some research. there was a line that barcia was on. and it made 100% sense when you look into it (the line). he was covering friese behind him. he clearly didn't anticipate jett cutting down so sharply (something he couldn't do in a normal turn, but this one was excessively wide - again, do some research). barcia was also front wheeling as he tried desperately NOT to hit jett when he saw jett cut down. but he was already committed. was it MORE barcia's fault? yeah. no shit. but stop acting like innocent jett just got bam-bammed or friesed. jett took a chance on the first lap in the middle of a crowded track. he does this whenever his starts are bad. it's a risk. it usually pans out. he's not just magically faster than everyone else. he takes more risks. although he's in a lot more control than JS7...which is frightening for the rest of the field.

A racing incident is an incident where by its a common occurrence! We only see this by 2 riders consistently!
Barcia and Friese, neither are without regular controversy nor do either try to learn or change this behavior.
This shit is not like banging bars, its not like Stewart, Reed or RC banging bars, this is just riders struggling to either be competitive at this level eg they are not this level or a rider having a bad seasons or age has caught up and everyone or everything else is to blame probably why nether rider has won a title in this class and wont!
Im all for banging bars between riders of equal capability and skills, eg Webb and Roczen! But I have even more respect for riders like Tomac Sexton who know when they aren't on their game don't try to block ram, or take out riders better than them on the day or in general, if you aren't good enough, stay in your wheel house or get out of the kitchen!
What position was Barcia in and racing for, this is not looked at enough, same with the Anderson incident, Anderson was clearly slower than Jett clearly couldn't handle the pace, so he rode dangerously, that's not racing, that's a dick that cant handle being beaten by a clearly better rider on the day, Barcia no better, after all these years, he still acts like a douche when the heat gets turned up, for what 8th fn place, geezus, no wonder the world is turned to shit, snowflakes run it. AMA cant even train people to hold a flag properly in a Stadium environment where its beamed around the world as a spectacle and they act like weekend amateur's, who frankly could do a better job and also protect the riders from on track stupidity that most learn in the Pee Wee class! Real champions don't make excuses, they get on with winning, I'm not a Tomac fanboi, but he's just got on like a champ, ignoring the noise doing his business, not blaming the bike, the team or anyone or anything else, he's not always been this way, but respect he is acting like a Champ, win or lose and I respect that. Jett will bounced back, no doubt he's learnt the hard way, how winning is done and he will assume the mantle nothing can stop that except him! You can only hold back an irresistible force for so long. They all know it, Webb, Roczen, Sexton, Anderson, Tomac and especially Barcia, he hasn't got what it takes now to compete with Jett, so take him out while you can, it wont last. I was a Barcia fan when he struggled to get on TLD, but this year, he has shown true colors, guess you cant change your spots sometimes. Not a legacy I would want to leave as an ageing rider past his prime who wouldn't have matched Jett even then!
