Those adapters are more expensive than cheap budget AA cells from IKEA which are in fact rebranded Eneloop Lite cells. Cheap AAs have also higher (1000mAh) capacity than more expensive AAA (700-900mAh)

My most devices need AA and from my point of view they are best choice (biggest capacity). Maybe in future standard 18650 is mostly popular.
