I love how King Richard is portrayed in this first song and he comes off as this menacing villain, like a Tywin Lannister. Your typical evil, cunning king. And then he speaks in the very next scene, all that goes out the window and Richard quickly becomes the BEST CHARACTER EVER!
Only lassie can look so mean yet he down right hilarious.
And Madalena is that sweet little fair lady to then go straight into Lady Macbeth a season later

There’s a show from the early aughts, Stark Raving Mad, which starred Tony Shaloub as a crazy horror novelist and Neil Patrick Harris as his super uptight editor. It ran one season and I have no clue why, it was freaking brilliant. You can find it here on CZcams.

If you want to give it a shot, go right ahead.
When I wrote THAT comment, it went by pretty quick, but it took me an hour or more to write the one I did a year ago.
I parodied the whole first half of the song.
It’s further down the comments, but give it a look! I put a lot of heart into it but no one scrolls down far enough to see it anymore.
2 seasons of television will never be more entertaining and exciting than these.
Galavant was a truly-unique, risk-taking show that will always be excellent.
I remember being amazed that GALAVANT was renewed for a second season (along with fellow summer-series AGENT CARTER) because the show was a musical, a satire, and not afraid to break the 'fourth wall'. The second season fulfilled my hopes by becoming more gleefully goofy!

It's kind of weird to look at this after watching the full first two seasons. Richard and Madalena are so different from how they were portrayed here... and man, this show was awesome.

That was kind of the point. The entire story of Galavant is a classic fairy tale jumbled around and messed with. The really great thing, imo, is that they did it without making a joke of the genre itself (for the most part).
All these years later and I still miss this show. It deserved at least five seasons. Or better yet, six seasons and a movie.
And much like how the community movie is a reality, perhaps Galavant will be resurrected

I love how rich the characters were. The King turns out not that bad, just lacking in a spine, Galavant is silly but serious when needed. I don't know how to explain it, I just love it.

I love the Jester's singing voice seriously! This show is amazing, all the actors are fantastic, and the singing and the comedy! This show is gold! i got one of my teachers into this show because i was humming the main song Galavant and he was asked what i was humming because i did it almost every day and we obsess over the show together! Just finished rewatching this again and man I really miss it.
This show is the best thing shown on ABC thus far! My sides were splitting in quarters during the premiere! Especially that joust! HOLY CRAP I COULDN'T BREATHE AT THAT PART! Great show so far! Too bad it is only a miniseries, but I guess it's best if it stays that way. And the medieval themed music of the show is brilliant! This song also has me wanting to piss myself silly x,D

Watched Galavant last night and loved every minute of it!!!! I laughed till it hurt, I can't wait until the next installment. Also, the main song Galavant is so catchy, I found myself humming it the rest of the night and even when I woke up this morning. That's why I'm on CZcams so I can listen and watch it again and again and again....you get the picture. I love Gaaaalllllaaaaavaaant!!!!!

Started the series yesterday, finished it today (including the first 2 episodes of season 2). INCREDIBLE SHOW!!! What I couldn't believe was that the first and second season was 1 year apart!!!! I really hope that once season 2 ends, season 3 will come sooner.

Well.. as much as I loved the first season..
2nd season (kinda).. Sucked
But I still appreciate what the first season gave to us.. A funny tv show that made me smile or laugh often
..and it was like out of nowhere.. I knew at least 3 or 4 other medieval tv shows being serious and this showed up and it was quite a nice change.. a medieval comedy tv show that was mostly about being funny / almost like a parody but a good one haha

I was just rewatching the Harry Potter movies and just looking at what the side characters have done since. I was surprised when I found out the actor who played Sid played Lee Jordan in the first two Potter movies!

An early version of the pilot had a different middle lyric than that which appears in the finished version:' The man we're speaking of, he had a lady love; a total goddess known as Madalena. Long legs and glowing skin, a body built for sin-with more than just a touch of nymphomania. Ah! Romance could hardly get much hotter-all day long, he'd you-know-what her! Then, they'd you-know-what again, three times or even ten, and she'd be screaming, 'Galavant!'

I like the finished lyrics much better.
Having just binge-watched the whole show, I'd say probably the only weakness is that you can tell they either chose or were forced to "pull back" from being a bit too risque or rude at times. Not majorly, just a few times that I found notably, such as using "hussy" when "whore" is obviously what they wanted to say (wasn't a S2 song even cut along that line?).
This change in the opening lyrics is another interesting example of that. Maybe being a US show meant an bit more prudishness on the network's part? Maybe the network had their target audience mis-judged slightly?
It was also a little notable in some of the fights, too... Galavant doesn't *kill* a single guard on his rescue, for example... surely not surprisingly since this is a lighthearted comedy, right? But compare with something like Monty Python or Blackadder, which would have reveled in sending up something like Game of Thrones' violence in such places. One of my biggest laughs was Garath's birthday because it was so surprising they went for it!
Just something I found interesting... but that in NO way spoiled this amazing show for me, however!
