Nice fix! I recently opened my door latch boxes for installation (just installed the body); and one latch came out of the box a little hinky. Great tip.
great fix mark the old mk1 is suffering the same problem but i dont have the spacer from behind the latch either door dont have one so ill figure it out
i did the fix today easy to do , thanks again , i just drilled out the backer the latch attaches too , had to fix it i got trapped last year with the top on the car and the door wouldnt open it took me ten min to get out by taking the cover with my pocket knife to take out the two little screws thanks again, tomorrow rerouting the speedo cable @@RodfatherMark

You might have to drill a hole behind the latch to recess the bolt head if you don’t have a spacer. Good luck!
my mk1 only has single thickness doors with a metal backer that the door skin is attached too ill figure out something@@RodfatherMark
