This one of the my favorite scenes in the movie... Two Friends out of place, not in their own time in a place populated by people they haven't been in 20 years. Renton is clearly uncomfortable.. Simon is too f*cked up to care... The selection of music is brilliant. The music is immortal... The young dance to it just the same... They two characters are not...
I'm just a tad obsessed with T2, seen it about 10x so far & I simply Adore it... Dare I say I find it even better than 1st- Please don't stone me people! All the guys are beyond fabulous but for me Jonny Lee Miller steals the show! It's nostalgic, hilarious, the score is Brilliant & I LMAO when Mark & Simon sing that "no more Catholics left" song 😂
off course we'll stone you, i've seen it 7x so far but T1 is simply better, even though i consider both movies as one story... and those people that find it funny or hilarious clearly missed the point
How can you be "alienated" to this song - it's a sort of music that transcends all eras and ages. This music and that voice will be still here when we won't be anymore.
I love how well this song fits this scene. Not just overall with the dichotomy of the older and younger people, but the lyrics they chose to keep in "you've had the time, you've had the power, you're yet to have, you're finest hour" then as Renton leaves the club "someone still loves you." It's amazing.
I fucking feel Spud right now. I quit coke 3 fecking years ago, and the first time after a bloody long time I fall in love with a girl, she's a fucking cokehead. When I see him curling up in a ball shaking badly... well that's me knowing that the girl I dig is out scoring drugs (cause she just can't fucking help it tonight) while I cannot be there with her, coz I can't sodding start with that shite again like never ever fucking ever again
nAh. He doesn't seem jealous of them taking heroin to me. Looks like he was chosen to babysit the two and while watching them lose control, he realizes how unnecessaryly wrong this is. MY interpretation.
I thought this clip says a lot about the state of contemporary music in 2017. Back in TS1 1998, it was an exiting time for music. The movie shows the vibrant house music scene with Franco and Renton in London at a Rave Club. Fast forward 20 years and they are in a club having to listen to a washed up queen track from the 80s... The young crowd are enjoying it because they don't have much new to chose from. Back in the 90s why the fuck would you be listening to Queen?
Pretty sure Queen was still big in the 90s. Bohemian Rhapsody reached #1 in the charts in 1992 for the third time, they had two numbers #1 albums in 1991 and 1995 and a top ten single in 1997 without Mercury.
@@lauraboiocchi4666 the point is there was so much more choice for kids back in the 90s. Anyone who listened to Queen in clubs back then was basically stuck in a time warp. You had so much more originality elsewhere versus now where it’s very dry unless you like drill or grime.
@James Dyne - Absolute bollocks. Since the mid 70s they’ve never not been big you muppet!!! The 90s arrived 5 years after they stole the show at Live Aid. Which was the biggest the gig ever - or is that too retro for you too. Fast forward to 2019 and the movie is the best selling biopic of all time. Go and live in your fantasy land… oh yes, add to the mix Freddie died 30 years ago last month…
Because he's gay.... that's why he needs Viagra, and why he's tormented. It's implied throughout he can't get it up with women, but his childhood growing up "macho" forces him to feel like he has to like women.
Repressed Homosexuality could be the main reason, but he may be just as turned on by his own violent tendencies as a secondary reason. a natural progression from what we see of him in the first film - it hints at the type of character that he is, that scene in the pub in Trainspotting. He needs to spill blood to get himself all hot and bothered. 'That lassie got glassed and nae c**t leaves till i find out what c**t did it' its a genius way to write the character, if thats what they had in mind. its very smart, even if it was just Robert Carlyle's idea of playing Begbie this time round.
In the first movie it shows the transition from lame pop music to modern Acid House, and doesn't even include all the amazing Indy bands around during the 90s. Fast forward to 2017 and This scene sums up the tragedy of the current music available. Nothing new just washed up versions of Queen.

I actually take this scene as the moment sick boy snaps out of being messed up with a burst of adrenalin!
Agreed.
This person gets it.
and poor Spud has to babysit them two, thinking: "Oh no, not again!"

The 1st one was better.
But I admire your faith .
This scene couldn’t be anymore British
Conor Macgregor so true. All that's missing is someone getting stabbed outside the club
I live in Bournemouth and this what every friday night is night minus some drunk prick running into the sea

that man prepare himself like Freddie would to perform at Queen concert!
I remember the day I saw this at the cinema, definitely worth 20 years, amazing asf sequel
Me too. I left earlier just to see it two times
Remembered this while watching the Bohemian Rhapsody :)
I saw Bohemian rhapsody today))and i remembered this moment

Freddy Mercury would love to see his music added in this powerful scene if he were still alive. R.I.P

BEGBIE IS A MASSIVE QUEEN FAN
Yes!!!!
Suddenly it's OK to be in a nightclub at 40 with people half your age, because Renton & Sickboy did it! :-D
PS: I'm 40
KSKR UK it's absolutely ok, because nobody seems to grow up anymore. Perpetual adolescence.
I should probably point out at this point, that my comment doesn't read too well. As I myself am 40 :-)
KSKR UK I got it!!! Yeaaah I can be cool again!
KSKR UK sounds like you've found your excuse to go out!
I mean, it's Ewan McGregor. The man is gorgeous.
esta es mi escena favorita de la secuela
I don't know how he did it, but Robert Carlyle managed to make a khaki bucket hat and aviator shades look terrifying
Damn I need to see this movie !
The perfection exists
After a couple more viewings T2 is catching on to me more and more
Watched it with no expectations and was blown away of how good sequel it is. Just like Doctor Sleep and Bladerunner 2049
The best movie and the best song for me ❤️
Carlton Studios,Edinburgh ? Down from King Arthur’s seat ...What a venue that was in Rave hay day 🔥⭐️👌🏼
Love Sick Boy's scream
Woooow. Awesome scene.
Watching this scene and the long build up to it was epic at the cinema, some buzz.
Man I wish I was there. That looks like a lot of fun
It reminds me to Michael De Santa. Somewhat it's like Renton.
Hahaha, true what you said. Michael could easily defeat Begbie, BUT in this case his own Begbie was Trevor, who also could kill Renton easy as f*ck.
the best scene
Best scene of this movie !!
Как было бы кайфово в этой толпе оказаться))
Typical Edinburgh hipsters in this scene lol.

Ode to generation X
Wait so Renton did heroine again? They kind of just skated past that
NoWittyNamesAreLeft Yeah that was the one bit of the film I didn't get. I thought oh god he's doing it again, and then they never come back to it
MP R I understand that, I just don't get why they sort of showed it, let you have the “oh no" feeling then never came back to it
they do that in honor of tommy
Kajhan Really? But is Renton not smart enough to know he might get addicted again?
both of them feel sad about tommy , is a way to remember him
Anyone tell me the name of the club this was filmed?
