The local bowling alley had this game back in 1986. My friends and I would go midnight bowling on Friday nights and my sister and I would spend so much time playing this game. I was so mad when they replaced it after several months. I still love playing it even on the emulator through Steam, Pinball Arcade. What an incredible machine.
As far as I know, this 750K Jackpot is home-brew firmware for tournament use. Normally the Jackpot builds to 2 Million, and is reset to 500K once collected.
This was my absolute favorite of all time! We had one and the local Mall when I was 16. I played one game for over 40 minutes and had people pissed at me because they were waiting to play and I kept winning free games. I remember it like it was Yesterday that was nearly 40 Years ago!
Great video, great explanation I loved High Speed as a kid, the neighbors had one and when the parents were upstairs at the dinner table talking all night long, us kids were downstairs playing all night long until we had blisters between the index and middle finger. Great machine, been asking them to sell it to me for 3 years now but they wanted to keep it and not play it until I bought one myself this week. :-)

My family has this same machine and I always love playing it. I’ve held 3 of the 4 high scores of 4 million plus for quite a few years. But there’s still the preset high score of 4million still hanging in the top scores! Such a satisfying pinball machine
As a kid, I always passed this one up, as it was right next to Medieval Madness in my arcade. Been enjoying it recently in Pinball Arcade, and now I hope to find an actual table again some day. Would love to play the real thing - Steve Ritchie knew his stuff!
This is one of my two Favorite Pinball games. Williams Flash Gordan and High Speed!!!! I liked Pinbot a lot too but not as much as High Speed or Flash.
I recently picked up Pinball FX3 and grabbed some of the Williams' tables, of which this is one. I've been going through your tutorial series and it's been AMAZING!!. I know these are old videos, but still have to give a shoutout, you make some great vids! Thanks!
All you guys can eat your hearts out! In 1986 I bought Comet and High Speed brand spanking new out of the crate for $2,000 each, that was a lot of money at that time! I put the games in the family room of my house and my kids from time to time as they grew up played the games, I have had them serviced regularly, all the rubbers replaced, etc., you can program the display of high speed to say anything you want, I remember I wrote this is Jacks Arcade! Lets go! the manual is downloadable from the internet, so now ive had these games for 30 years and they are brand spanking new! I wouldn't sell them for $10,000 each!
It's weird to think that new pinball machines only used to cost about $2000 compared to the $5k-8k games now. As for me, I'm building a mini virtual cabinet I can take from home back to my dorm once the fall semester begins. As it turns out, real machines take up quite a bit of space and are pretty loud. I would eventually like to own some real machines later on though. I've always liked Haunted House even though everyone says it's a maintenance nightmare. Fortunately, there's a place not too far from campus with dozens of pinball machines. However, they charge $1 per game (which is a bit ridiculous,) and they're all Stern games although not all of them are nearly as bad as people make them out to be.
i have a high speed. its an awesome game, one of my favorites. my high-speed is what i call a good players machine. the play-field isnt bad but its not perfect. the game plays flawlessly. overall the game really is not bad and for the $1,100 i paid for it.... its great.
when i was ten this was my favorite pinball game of all time what i love was the rollers on top of the machine when i finaly got away it was the greatest feeling in the world great video man.
first game with jackpot? i dont know if road kings came after or before this.i like the fact you can get timelock, what gives unlocks a ramp "mode" where you can get mega scores and extra balls. i think roadkings is very undervalued, high speeds wins on theme. and easy to understand what made it very popular.
sad story about the pinball machines at hersheypark i grew up going to that park alot and loved playing the pinball machines there......sorry to say that i didnt go for a few years and when i came back i found alot of the machines to be in disrepair and out of order......now out of all of those machines they only have 3 left now and 2 of them are out of order.......so sad to see such great machines go to waste
I know this comment is a bit old, but nowadays Hersheyparks pinball row is doing quite well. They have a decent selection (mainly older games) and they’re all playing pretty well. They even have a working Hercules! Unfortunately high speed isn’t there though.
What do you mean is it real pinball? Of course this is video of a real pinball machine albeit I am here to learn the rules because I am playing this board on Visual Pinball as I type this. I also downloaded the new High Speed 2: The Getaway table on Zens Pinball FX3 along with Fishtales, Medieval Madness and Junkyard. Next week I will get the williams pack 2 that has Attack from Mars, Party Zone, and Black Rose. Zen just acquired the Bally/Williams license so now every month they will be putting out a Willaims table pack. They just started this 2 months ago which is why they only have 7 tables out atm.
