- Walking tour of Roosevelt Avenue, Jackson Heights, Queens, New York City.
Roosevelt Avenue is the primary street in the varied, middle-class community of Jackson Heights in Queens, NY, runs directly beneath the tracks of the 7 train. Roosevelt Ave is know for its stores, illegal massage parlors, restaurants and migrant street vendors. There you can find everything from clothing, food, jewelry, and even sex. Whatever you are looking for, I'm sure you can find it there.
Multicultural Jackson Heights in Queens is home to Little India, a South Asian micro-neighborhood centered around a stretch of 74th Street. Indian restaurants serve traditional curries, while sari and Bollywood music shops offer up a slice of the subcontinent. Tibetan, Nepalese, and Latin American restaurants expand the culinary choices. Every summer, the district hosts the annual Queens Pride Parade and Festival. ― Google

I was Born in the Bronx New York City
I went to consumer affairs to get licensed to operate a hot dog cart and I was told there’s a waiting list with a million names on it how is it possible all these people are licensed street vendors some can’t communicate in English.
I don’t think the majority have licenses.
Well, learn Spanish and head to Queens. Perro caliente!
That's what happens when you let loose on the immigration policies...Enjoy the diversity now.
They are not licensed
I'm also from the Bronx, it's not what you know it's who you know!! has been like that for years
That outdoor dining 9:00 is crazy 😂
right under the train is crazy
It seems ok. A lot of places have tables on the sidewalk, often in touristy places like Manhattan's Little Italy. Some Brooklyn restaurants have outdoor dining in the courtyards during the summer. When I was in Jackson Heights during the 80s, I often ate an empanada or a slice of pizza while I walked down the street in the summer. Many times during the winter, I liked to drink a coffee or a hot chocolate on the go.

Wow just wow. What a difference 30 years ago .
Que locura se volvió queens .. gracias Dios por permitirme salir de allí
I used to stay on 111 stop before shea stadium & us open. Pizzeria was amazing on 103 corona plaza
Didn't expect the girls to be there, lol? I thought they all disappeared after the crackdown a month ago?
They were back the same week lol
lol those crackdowns are nothing more than an illusion to make the people think they are doing something.....its not meant to solve any issues.
Wow 😳
That looks more like somewhere in South America!
So?
@@michaelkucinski4021 So it looks like somewhere in South America!
@@CarlosCruz-ll5ez Well, what's wrong with that? It looks South American probably because there are a lot of South Americans there. They're not hurting or bothering anybody. It's not a bad neighborhood. It's probably one of the safest places to be in NYC. I wish all the nice people there luck! If you or someone else doesn't like it there, don't go there.
honestly it looks like the red light districts of South America where escopolamina is the favorite drug of the prostitutes to knock out your ass and leave you bone dried 💲
@@michaelkucinski4021 looooooooool he said the literal cesspool/shitstain of queens (aside from jamaica) is the safest hahahhahahahha

Please I used to live in Jackson Heights, but now is so sad, it looks like been in a Latin America country 😮
If it aint white it aint right eh?
What's sad about that? They moved in, now businesses cater to them. That happens whenever people move into a neighborhood.
Queens is the most diverse place in the world in case you didn’t know buddy lol. Nothing in this video is different then how it was when I lived there for 20 years

What’s crazy is this was how Ny looked like in the 1930s 1920s when the Irish and Italian were there

Looks like Columbia
You mean, "COLOMBIA." Unfortunately, it's not as Colombian as it was in the 70s and 80s.
@@michaelkucinski4021 just post that when i was young that area was just Colombians and Italians that was back in the 70's
@@stephenheath8465 I was there in the 1980s with my Colombian friends. I loved it! It was a wonderful neighborhood!
Are there any Indian restaurants on Roosevelt Avenue? If so, what are they called?
If you Google it, I’m sure you can find some, and check out the reviews as well ✌️
Not much Indian anymore. Use to be in the 80s and 90s. Now it is mostly Bangladeshi and Nepalese. They are concentrated around 74th street between Roosevelt ave and 37th Ave.
I lived in NY for about 15 years in the Corona Queens area. Dominicans dominated most of the supermarket business. Nowadays, it's more Mexicans, which I am okay with. My wife is Mexican. But how things change with time.
How did Mexicans get New York? CraY
It looks like there’s everything and anything there of any sources
Everything and anything is for sale on Roosevelt Ave 🤑

Oh Lord help us.
you think youre gonna be ok?
The problem is Devil runs the world. He is lier and murderer. That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom.
Jehovah would put everything in order. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our beloved ones again! :-)
@@AlexejSvirid Keep your religious nonsense to yourself!
No government to clean up that mess.
This is similar to 20th century New York, when Italian immigrants were itinerant, along with other Europeans arriving in the United States.

We really need to turn New York red. We need politicians to Clean Our St., New York looks like a Third World country.
I would have never guessed that this will be happening here in New York. It’s a disaster.
The new 42nd street.This is AOC’s district.
How? You guys have to put up viable candidates and not like the last two clowns that ran for mayor.
Surely you are immigrant or have non-native roots, but as always, they deny their own past and where they come from...
Lord have mercy. Who's allowing this?😮
How the hell are they getting away with prostitution and vending on public streets. Wheres AOC that POS
I understand the night but in the day time smh
12:29 My Alien buddy ^_^ so yea it's always been the same diverseness if not gotten even better since the 80s ^_^ #KeyMaster I'm glad my vessels birth place is still this way .^_^

Where does it START? and END? Roosevelt and what?
Roosevelt Avenue begins at 48th Street and Queens Boulevard in the neighborhood of Sunnyside.Roosevelt Avenue goes through Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park (adjacent to Citi Field) and Flushing. In Flushing, Roosevelt Avenue ends at 156th Street and Northern Boulevard.

It's actually looked that way since the late 80's as far as I remember minus the street girls 'cause back then it was done more discreetly. Area has always been a red light district.
Exactly. I've been to Caracas, and the streets around the subway stations look just like this.
It's been like this for years biden ain't make this and Trump sure as heck ain't gonna fix it
@@RF_NY1. The area was mostly Italian Polish and German up until the early 80s.
@@chriszenko3598 Yup, same as some areas in the Bronx like the westchester square area. The late 80's and 90's saw some people from latin america come in, particularly colombians and some argentinians.

I see people trying to make a living! Legally and illegally. How else will they support themselves and their families! It may not look posh to many but it’s better than stealing, mugging and violence. I work with the same population in the Bronx and I respect their work ethics and drive to better themselves. We work around their schedule in the clinic because if they don’t work they don’t put food on the table! Just my 2 cents!

Yo, I live around here. It was always a struggling community. I understand that many people in that area don’t like the prostitution that’s going on there me being one of them. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately these sex workers which I used to look down upon revived the community in a business sense. I understand the negative outlook on prostitution but if we legalize it, we can most likely take all the negative things that comes with it sex trafficking, gang, violence, etc., etc., out of the equation. When I was younger, they were never been so many businesses in the area street food, more leases of legitimate businesses. Yes they complain but it’s not the whole picture. Economic wise a lot of people are eating and making money. government/conservative thinking people are not helping our community. We have to find another way unfortunately and it looks like this is the best we can do. I’m so sorry. I’m offending or triggering your cultural views on what life should be but if we are not getting any help, we have to find our own way🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

Looks like business is thriving…what are folks complaining about?
That's AOCs district.......it's reflective of what she stands for
If they are operating just on a table, it's likely they don't have a license. But if you have a food truck or cart, it's likely you do. Licenses for food vending are hard to obtain from the city. Almost impossible right now. People who do have licenses, lease them out to operators. I investigated getting one, and that's what I found out. I can also say that the health requirements, rules and regulations are so strict on food vendors that I've heard some say that it's easier and less restrictive to operate an actual brick and mortar restaurant than a truck.
