    Same here, I started my sim-racing journey from Logitech G923 on PS5. After 1 year, I upgraded to Fanatec GT DD Pro base, Clubsport V2.5 wheel and CSL pedal with Load cell brake. I will go for the CSL pedal because it can take out the clutch. I only play F1 games; the clutch is useless for me.

    Interesting you failed to mention Simucube, Simagic and Asetek, despite those brands possessing superior build quality and performance to anything Fanatec offers. Not to mention Fanatec's putrid RMA process and deplorable quality control/customer support. But hey, I hear you.

    You’re the madman, having a podium base on the Playseat challenge haha! I have the PS challenge as well for many years with a Logi G29. Now I upgraded to the CSL DD. I have the 8Nm version and I feel it’s the absolute limit for the PS challenge. And I purchased a 3d printed full reinforcement kit for the playseat to make it more rigid to hold the forces of the 8Nm DD. and then I see you with a podium. Hats off to you sir!

      haha yeah a little crazy, didn’t realize how much the DD1 weighed when i got it. it is a bit shaky under force feedback but there haven’t been any issues. after posting this video i’m getting peer pressured into getting a new chair lol

    Fanatec does offer great realism. If you ordered a real race car you’d probably get it in about the same time frame as a Fanatec setup. Maybe even faster 😂

    Consider moza it’s comparable to fanatec without the lower quality quick release. I got the r12 and a full setup(shifter and handbrake with lc pedals) for about 1250

  • @Knusbernd
    @Knusbernd Před 4 měsíci +3

    if you're on the PC... don't do fanatec to you...
    There are now better ones from moza asetek etc
    In addition, fanatec's ecosystem is very expensive to expand if, for example, you don't want a wheel from fanatec.

    I remember when I bought my first set-up for Sim racing, and I still have it still this day, with some upgrades needed of course but after 5 years now of use, still works like a champ. Overall mines cost over 1000 dollars.

  • @hughmanwho

    You missed Moza.. I'm loving my Moza r5 bundle. Neck in neck with Fanatec. And lots of reviewers were complaining about the brake pedal.. it seems like they listened and upgraded the pedals.
    Also, I wouldn't touch g920 and other logitechs or thrustmaster.. maybe check out Cammus c5? Which is a cheap direct drive wheel. I started with g920, I kept losing, I returned it and upgraded to Moza r5.. instant upgrade. No longer am I not sure what is the wheelbase vs what's being simulated allowing me to 'feel the car' and know if I'm understeering or oversteering around turns. Massive difference. You can get their with g920 as you can get there and compete with visual alone but night and day difference and worth the upgrade to go with direct drive.

    • @griddrop
      @griddrop  Před 4 měsíci

      agreed, direct drive makes a huge difference. easily worth an extra hundred bucks

  • @marcushillerstrom25
    @marcushillerstrom25 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Naah, entry level I'd go for the Moza r3 bundle. Or if you are PC only, the r5 bundle. Then you are in a eco system that will take you all the way to 21nm if you want to. Or go directly to one of fanatecs ready to race bundles. I guess they are one step above entry level, but they are multitudes of times better than the Logitech.

  • @theHaba99

    This is just my opinion but getting a good pedal set is more important than getting high end wheelbase, a lot of people tend to over look the pedals when they are getting into sim racing.
    Also the rigs arent really mentioned in this video even though those are quite big part of the cost in sim racing and they will make the experience a lot better and basically almost required with any sort of direct drive wheelbase, maybe not with the 5nm bases but anything higher pretty much.

    Is there an advantage of having 15nm wheelbase if you dont use Full Force Feedback? Most Reviewers Said 15nm are way too much and that they dont use 100% of Force Feedback, so is it still more realistic than other bases with less Nm?

    • @griddrop
      @griddrop  Před měsícem +1

      it depends on your budget and how much you’ll use it. if you’re going to use it a lot, fanatec is a good bet and you’ll get your moneys worth. it’s important to note too that a chair/rig might cost a lot of money, so do a lot of research on all the components you need before you spend

    recommending fanatec while the company is currently trying their hardest to destroy their reputation as fast as possible...bold move. It's probably a great time to buy on the used market though considering how many sim racers are currently selling their fanatec gear to swap to different companies gear. That high end wheelbase looks super out of place mounted onto that g29 entry level flex machine of a chair though. who needs base shakers when your wheelbase is strapped to a lawn chair like some poor mans diy haptic feedback attempt?😆

      moza also has good stuff

    • @kartzzy6101
      @kartzzy6101 Před 4 měsíci

      @avatar94100 that depends on if you mean 800 for just the wheel base, or if that 800 includes pedals, wheel, qr, etc. Moza has good offerings but has a habit of making new product versions of previously released products, causing early moza gear adopters to be left without compatibility with later released gear. Simagic and asatek have great wheelbases at that price range, with simagic having a larger ecosystem considering that asatek is quite new. Asatek has insanely good gear and one of the best, most innovative, and most useful quick releases available, considering they are quite new. Simucube has held the top spot with quality bases for a long time and does have their lowest NM base in the 800 range. You really can't go wrong going either, simucube, asatek, simagic, or moza at this point, with all offering top tier quality direct drive bases below $1,000. I'm already invested into moza, but if i were to start again, it'd be a pick between moza or simagic. Both have great ecosystems overall, but simagics ecosystem is more rounded out with high quality product options, but some at a higher price to match the quality. Whereas moza has a full ecosystem and great options for any budget, but most of their product options are aimed at more lower-mid range budget racers. For instance, Moza only has 3 pedal options, the cheapest being basically a well made toy for entry level new racers, and the most expensive pedal set being $500 bucks but being inferior to other pedal options at same price. Cammus is another newer brand offering a 5nm and a 15nm wheelbase, both well below 800, but I've only heard reviews praising the products like a paid sponsored creator would, with many others saying mostly negative things. I don't trust cammus enough to buy their equipment right now. I'd say go simagic as my #1 recommended with moza in #2. BTW simagic has some of the best pedal options on the market with their p1000 pedals competing with higher priced pedal sets, while have a mid tier pedal price tag.

    • @kartzzy6101
      @kartzzy6101 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @avatar94100 that's all assuming you play on pc though. If not, then your only console compatible out of box options are fanatec and logitech for direct drive bases. Moza has an Xbox compatible budget 3nm dd base dropping early this year as well.
