  • An obesity scheme in Rotherham which was successful in helping people lose weight has has received criticism for going private after losing their NHS funding.
Rotherham is one of the country's obesity hotspots where two in every three adults is classified as either overweight or heavier.
Despite the scale of the obesity problem, NHS treatment for the most serious patients is no longer available in the South Yorkshire town.

Why should the tax payers have to pay for your gluttony and laziness?!?! Yes, some people are obese for medical reasons but for the VAST majority it comes down to personal choices. Governments around the world need to learn about supportive compassionate preventative care.... kindness should be a given. Citizens need to see empathy in action. We all need to empower each other to try on another persons shoes for a day to gain the perspective necessary for empathy & resultant kindness.

🙏❤️Kindness is the least expensive expenditure for the most dramatic gainful impacts. Well 💦 worth the effort 💪🏼❤️ even if the target is unawares &/or ungrateful

Yes. Governments around the world should come together. They could monitor the globe for fat and famine hotspots, then there could some kind of exchange program utilising the benefits of both regions turning 2 negatives into 1 big positive 💞🌼

After reading the very judgemental comments below I would like to add that not all overweight people are that way because they eat too much! This is a popular but misguided and ignorant belief. Many are obese/overweight due to the medication they are taking (for example: insulin is a weight loss inhibitors for those with diabetes). In addition, certain medical conditions make it almost impossible and/or painful to exercise very much. Look at the whole picture and do your research before passing judgement PLEASE. Likewise not all thin people are suffering from anorexia. These are just other forms of prejudice and people need to open their minds to all the facts.

This is true for a very small proportion of the fatties but what about the other 99.9%, let's concentrate on them shall we?

I agree not all people are to blame for being obese, but 99% are, and yet 99% of obese people try to blame it on something else other than themselves.

Is brexit the cause of this if so where should I move?

Why do these people need support from the NHS, why are they not able to lose weight themselves, they are just blaming someone else for their own failing, too much of this going on these days, I'm 67 now, and most of my life most people including myself have been slim, and I still am, but over the last 20 years obesity as just got out of hand, these people have no one but themselves to blame for being obese.
