One thing i've noticed is that if you are going to start Pulisic it has to be with Florenzi. Whenever we play with Calabria our Right Wing is always isolated and has to take defenders on with the dribble and that's not going to work with Pulisic who thrives with being able to link up with the right back and center mid. Pulisic this game only had 12 pass attempts in 69 minutes and looks invisible. I think whenever we play Calabria it has to be with Chukwueze who likes the isolated style to take on defenders like Leao.

Pulisic is invisible when his team isn't getting him the ball. They went left all game and leao Ghosted. Pulisic looked good when he was on the ball but didn't get it enough.

He was exhausted the last 15 or so minutes of the game. He could hardly keep up with players he's far faster than. It's understandable since he went from hardly being used to playing a whole lot in a very short time.

I'd give a red box to Pioli too. He got it all wrong today. The gameplan was wrong, the lineup was wrong, the tactics were wrong, the game management was wrong. Dude continues drop the ball in big games. Milan needs better from their manager, and Pioli is incapable of delivering that in big games.
Honestly though, the coach's role is to get the players into the final space to finish, if the players don't finish some excellent chances, I have to put it on them more than the coach.
Please all take a step back and realize this isn’t exactly horrible. We are in the group of death where all teams are league title contenders in top European leagues. We tied Newcastle in first game which pummeled PSG today the group favorites. Two draws while hurting our chances of getting out doesn’t mean it’s horrific performances or something is wrong with the team. We played competitive scoreless matches against teams that could easily make it to final 8 of tournament.

I’ve been saying Chuk is not as composed as Pulisic, I do not see him taking the starting spot, but I think we should rest Pulisic next game. I agree with the Calabria and Pobega take, but at the end of the day we got the clean sheet, the reason we tied was not because of Calabria’s bad defending. We have created SO MANY clear opportunities in both CL matches and have not scored once. So, did Pobega and Calabria play bad? Yes, did we create chances to win the game? Yes. Why do both ties feel like we lost? Its not the lost possessions by Pobega or the bad defense by Calabria.

Considering the amount of midfielders that we have injured, and that we were playing with Pobega as a STARTER and Reindjers as an improvised Regista... i think the result wasn't as bad as we think. I am more concerned that our main Striker is incapable to perform right now, i guess is time to give Okafor the main spot and leave Giroud as a back up.

i agree italian players (Calabria and Pobega) cant play at a level expected for a team like ac milan. At best they can be good backups, for sure not starters, especially CL matches. This issue should be fixed. Anyway the team hasn't performed that bad so far, at least for expectations i had for this season

Idk why kalulu isnt given the chance to play once more at Rb. He was great 2 years ago and he cant be worse than calabria atm. Florenzi is a defensive liability, he can come in if milan needs to score.

I agree that Calabria had a shit performance but to me he was part of a defense that ultimately conceded no big chances against Borussia in their stadium. He is less of the problems today. Also Donyell Malen isn't that easy to deal with and our defense made him almost invisible. To me the attack let us down, Giroud shouldn't be a Milan starter anymore, Pulisic was invisible but when he had a big chance to pass the chose to shoot and threw another big chance, the midfield was nonexistent
Laeo is like that guitar player in your band that won't stop shredding with distortion on 10 when your band is trying to play a ballad. It has its place but he needs to find the rhythm and lull players in and give his teammatestime to find space. He's still a step behind players like De Bruyne. Both him and pulisic are close and it's still exciting if they can get to that next level it's the best attack in Europe, right now it's still very exciting potential.

It’s has not been a disastrous performance by the players so far, we just are having trouble finishing our chances. We still have 4 matches left and let’s remember that PSG have a disaster waiting to happen as their goalkeeper in Donnaruma. As long as we stay solid defensively and put shots on target and finish these chances, we can beat PSG.

He was actually mentioning that several times during the match, to double the mark to Malen, but not Pulisic or Reijender gave that support. Pioli was quite pissed off. He shout to leao several times as well to cover his position but he didn't listen
I agree with Rafa's offensive output, but in phases out of possession he's just gone. We can't play with 10 people when out of possession in a game where we have around 40% possession.
There have been a few moments where I am left yelling at the screen asking Rafa to get involved!
Milan is behind PSG by 1 pt and play them back to back. This means Milan still has full control of its destiny in champions league. A win and a tie is enough to pass them. Just can’t lose.

It’s kind of hard to say we need a defensive midfielder when we now have Adli, plus krunic and Bennacer. We need 4 defensive midfielders for a 433? Obviously 2 of those guys are injured, but the guys building a roster aren’t just thinking about the short term. It’s tough all around but as these players and RLC come back from short term injuries we should be able to make it work. Maybe we see Musah at 6 in UCL if Adli can’t go from now on, with RLC/Reijnders at the 8s.
Except Adli and Krunic are makeshift in their role, to succeed on the highest levels in the Champions League, Milan needs quality players in that specific role not makeshift players.
Pobega needs to be replaced with someone quality, that's my point.

Calabria: it's a disgrace that he is our captain. Doesn't have the speed, strength, vision, passing/crossing skill. To think that we used to have players like Cafu or Zambrotta in his position. RB should be one of our top priorities. Until then, Florenzi should start.
Reijnders: I never believed in curses until I saw Reijnders trying to score.
Giroud: he's done as a starter. Way too slow and ineffective. Let's integrate Okafor and Jovic, they're both very talented and not kids anymore.
Leao: getting more consistent, partly because we have other attacking options he can combine with.
Musah: He is a beast, just needs to keep playing.
Chuk: Underwhelming so far. I was super excited about him but so far nearly nothing. Needs to learn to play as part of the team.

We were lucky that it was Dortmund yesterday. If we faced PSG yesterday, we would have been killed horribly. We gave up the balls so easy, especially Leao, Calabria and Pobega. This is exactly how we got killed by Inter.
Also, I don’t get why Pioli keeps using Giroud from the start instead of Okafor who obviously has a better form at the moment. Common, we are playing in UCL modern football, a 37 years old- tapping striker would absolutely be useless on countering. He got no skill, no pace, zero dribbling ability and couldn’t even hold up the ball more than 5 second. So what is the point to start playing him as starter. This is on Pioli. He got Jovic, Okafor on the bench but still blindly trust Giroud.
I’m confident that We will get knocked out of this competition early if Pioli starts Giroud, Pobega, and Calabria again in the next 2 games. And I hope I’m wrong.

I knew you would call Reijnders out the moment that chance occured LOL. Great analysis except saying that Musah was perfect which he wasn't. He almost gave the ball away near the end of the game 2 times in a row in front of the defence, luckily Tomori was there to cover. He was perfect till those shaky moments. The standards need to be kept high, it's our 3rd year in UCL - no more excuses.

The teams legs looked really tired. Pioli needs to rotate a bit. Players can't play effectively twice per week. Leao and Musah were the only players that had energy.

Do you think pioli has been holding milan back offensively after the inter threshing. I think he is because the defense is basically shaky right now. I think this was a decent result considering the defensive weakness, that said we wasted chances.

The team for me hasn't gotten that ulc standard squard, they still for below average with this squard and getting a draw away from isn't bad at all, Dortmund also needed a victory and playing at home would have boosted their confidence to win.

Pobega have made several good performances, but against lower sides. We need to give trust to the players, so it was not really a bad decision for him being a starter. However that trust...well, he wasn't up to the challenge. To see him struggling so much in every play today, gosh I felt bad

I don't agree about Pobega in the DF phase, he was marginally better in the 2nd half but when you're passing at 48% as a CM and losing the ball 12 times, I don't really care if you get a block or interception in the middle of the field.

The biggest red box has to go to Pioli for being unable to understand what players work best together, unable to see his teams strengths and weaknesses.
This was just ridiculous, Pioli played Tijani in the regista position 🤬. He stunted our ability to move forward, and our chemistry.

Okafor needs to start! Leao needs to be moved to the CF position and Okafor needs to go on the LW. Or they both need to be played as strikers with Pulisic facilitating more ball movement in the midfield. This was lazy lazy lazy playing from our team! Just a poor performance all around.
I think the judgments of Leao's performance are all over the place because on the one hand he did a very good job of beating players off the dribble and leading counter attacks. But on the other hand he mostly wasted those efforts as he ended up turning the ball over or putting in bad crosses or bad passes instead of creating opportunities. Leao should have created more scoring opportunities for himself and his team from the positions he created for himself. So from a talent-judgment perspective it was an impressive showing. You can say "he just has to finish those moves and usually he will". But from a game-judgment perspective it was a poor effort because almost all his brilliance fizzled out from his own poor continuation. Then you throw in his proclivity to turn the ball over in bad ways that lead to chances for the opposing team and it's easy to conclude he had a bad game. He was dangerous and showed brilliance but overall didn't seem to have a good effect on the game.
As far as the missed scoring chances, it was a team effort. None of the chances were can't miss. But combining them all at least one ball has to be put in the back of the net. It was spread out among multiple players though so you can't say that the those particular misses by themselves meant the players had bad games. In my mind, Chukwueze and Reijnders had the best chances. Sofascore, on the other hand, gives the highest expected goals to Giroud and Pobega. For Reijnders it's probably because as a viewer I could see the goalkeeper was going the wrong way and the entire right side of the goal was open. That might not be fair though because that likely couldn't be known by Reijnders at the time he was lining up his shot.
That's Leao basically, overall arguably MOTM for me!
I woulda have called out pioli... not Reijnders... Reijnders was ALL OVER the field. He played great. Its sad we can't score with all of the talent we have. 1 chance missed shouldnt be the reason for a call out on a holding midfielder. He did his job. A+ from me. Pioli on the other hand. I would have started florenzi and Adli.
Calabria need to go, or not a starter, he is easily beatan by opponent and create trouble for his teammates with his pass, why can he just make a simple pass, Milan need to win against Newcastle away and Dortmund home, PSG im not sure

I don’t think you are fair. You’re acting as the performance of the players has no effect on a players performance.
Pioli’s system is extremely physically demanding. It implicitly reqwuires you to manage your runner’s energy levels. Dortmund like most german sides is a very physically capable team - they will not let you take a breath and if you do - they will be all over your own half. The team paced themselves very well, and when they weren’t going all out - they defended as a team. Outside of individual mistakes from the new players and mistakes due to the high pace of the action - the team worked well. In the context of the PSG game - incan firmly say: we have a solid side this year. A team that while not impressive offensively and still mostly relying on perfect individual executions we control games with strong sides (lazio/Dortmund/Newcastle) remarkably well. That’s a good thing. Just because you don’t see the opponent play well with you, doesn’t mean it’s a weak opponent and you should be disappointed if you don’t steamroll them.
Dortmund, for anyone that follows them has very solid and physical wingers. Hence why the right side didn’t manage to progress. If we had Calabria from last year, it would have been 2-0 just from that side by the 30th minute. However because he understood the assignment instead of 2 goals, we had only 2 chances from his side in the first half. Theo’s side looking much more shaky.
And lastly - anyone that has seen how Milan plays knows the secret is to put pressure on distribution - hence the issue with midfielders.
Don't think it's been a bad outcome, just think we missed some excellent chances to finish and get on the scoresheet.

Milan needs a prolific goalscorer. Pobega Calabria and Giroud shouldnt be starters at this level. Rejinders needs to improve on his shooting. Chekweze needs to play more games......you can see he's void of confidence compared to his Villarral days. At this point Pioli should comsider playing Pulisic as a backup to Leao on the left as he seems to be ineffective on the right but its too bad we left Romero out the squad as he may have been what we needed on the right. What are you talking about. Pulisic has 3 goals and 1 assist. Leao has 3 goals 3 assists. Pulisic is playing on the right. He likes to cut inside when taking players because he right foot dominate. if anything leao should go right and pulisic left for 7 games and see how pulisic does.
Leao is hands down the better LW so shifting him out right doesn't make sense. Playing either out right is nor the solution. We have natural RW in the squad that should be starting. What's the point in buying players to play them out of position and both Chukweze and Romero are quality players. It's actually unfair to Pulisic's reputation playing him as a RW considering he's actually a LW
Pulisic has done very well on the right through to be fair, however his goals and assists have been through a move much more central unlike Chuk who comes almost hugging the corner of the box. Pioli won't drop Pulisic and he shouldn't, the guy's been very effective.

Giroud needs to score in important matches. Calabria needs to improve or give a step back. Adli is looking good in that position, give him more minutes and perhaps he'll be better than Krunic as the second to Bennacer. And that's it. Be serious in the next matches and believe in yourself

Calabria was a good player, after he got injured, he didn't recover his level. As Kush said in the video, Pioli and the team are losing the confidence that he'll recover his level, that's why he goes out in every second half. This season could be his last, at least as a starter

The team is not fluid, we do not play fluid football. We see Musah trying to facilitate that and Tijani to a point but it is not there. I agree with everyone on Pobega. He was a liability. But neither him or Calabria were the main problem. The attacking trio weren’t clinical. Giroud was not threatening, and the wingers weren’t ambitious enough or clinical enough. And I like all of our wingers it’s a strength of this team. But they need to bury their chances or take enough chances.
Finishing was the main factor in the result.
