About Error being only slightly more powerful than a regular Sans is somewhat questionable (mainly because that's what the creator said in 2016). Being that she herself later said that Error is an extremely powerful Sans and in the comic it is said that Error beats hackers and can manipulate the Anti-Void code
There is also the comment that Error makes about erasing Fresh from existence with his Error Blaster, but it could be taken as a hyperbole, although it was never really seen that anyone (besides Fresh) tanked an Error Blaster and that Error's LV It's an indeterminate topic.
Regarding speed, it is something curious since Error defeated Swap Papyrus with a simple movement and Error can manipulate the Anti-Void (giving it space-time manipulation). Error at least is a little faster than a regular Sans

The funny thing is if we are to consider the actual cosmology of one timeline in undertale, this easily puts a lot of characters onto the multiversal level.
Because there's a thing called branching timelines which load and save is all about, when frisk dies they don't just reverse time they hop towards a different branching in time.
This is supported in the fight with sans when he talks about timeline stopping and starting.
There's a whole video explaining the cosmology of undertale which is fucking hilarious, and makes frisk even more stronger than we anticipated.
To be fair this probably isn't the case in fan AU's, but it's something to consider if we're assuming that each au is similar to undertale in that way.
I don't know if this would put error or nightmare any higher, I felt like it would be something to consider.
Edit, I was kinda wrong. I forgot that branching timelines don't technically count into the multiversal range. My bad.
This is straight up wrong. Undertale takes place in one timeline until it's erased by chara, hence 'moving onto the next.' Frisk doesn't hop timelines, they LOAD to a SAVED point in the current timeline, resetting RESETS the timeline back to the start. We never interact with more than one timeline at a time, ever.

Once you jump a timeline you basically create two different timelines, yes the save and load ability creates different timelines.
How it works is that you're actually creating a branch in a timeline, which in its turn basically is a timeline in itself.

This means that undertale follows branching timelines theory, you can erase one universe and still be considered multiversal.

Nightmare has a soul. Error's strings are specifically made to trap and destroy souls with ease. So many people fail to see the problem with error having a fair fight against any sans that has a fucking soul. He just wins.
EDIT: Uh, aside from Fresh, because the actual Fresh is a parasite with no soul, and if I remember correctly, Error has admitted he can't destroy Fresh.
Nightmare can die by ReaperTale Sans's death touch canonically too, though that's irrelevant here, good vid btw!

@@Mr_cosmic404 Because it's not. There were statements on Error that made him super op, and then ones later where they just say he's blatantly weak. I'm all for listening to what the creators say, but it feels like they were answering questions and making statements based on what they could pull out of their ass at that very moment. At one point, they stated that Error could control anyone his strings touched, then they said that Error is able to lose to people like dust, so it's really ridiculous.
it’s honesty depends on what error we are talking about I feel like. But uv error is decent, idk about canon, saga verse made nightmare his bitch, and alpha verse, well god is he a powerhouse
There’s a second way nightmare can die: destroying all of his cells, EVERY SINGLE CELL that nightmare has counts, if he has 1 cell left, he’ll still be alive. Gaster blasters work fine still.
Nightmare is basically cell from dragon ball z expect he doesn't stronger everytime he is destroyed.

Corrupted Nightmare is legit made up of an Outerversal being, corrupted a world that is existing in every timeline and universe in the multiverse of Undertale which would amount to infinity due to infinite possibilities and such described by Chara, he’s also nigh-potent and cannot be killed by anyone except for Dream but can still take dmg from anyone, he also has resistance to any melee weapon as shown in the au facts page, he outspeeds classic sans shown in a animation made by Joku where Corrupted Nightmare meets sans (Nightmare is a tiny blob and sans can barely react in the correct time span to the speed), classic sans’ speed is light speed as well, if we were to give Nightmare a dimensional scale as well, he’d be much MUCH higher than 4d due to him being able to corrupt a world that isn’t relevant to any sort of physics and can exist in any multiverse the owner wants it to be in, also should state that whenever Dream or Nightmare doesn’t actually fully do their job, the scale would shatter which affects EVERY SINGLE PART OF FICTION due to the actual WORLD being in an OUTERVERSAL state and only travelled to the undertale multiverse to stay hidden…I can keep adding more and more to this. And also, should say that Error would literally glitch out just from Nightmare’s aura. Also, for a reminder, whenever Error destroys a universe, he destroys the timelines according to that universe which is infinite due to infinite possibilities. We can stack this proven fact to Nightmare’s case where the world is in every universe and timeline which we can say that the actual number is infinitely times bigger than infinite.
The Multiverse in Dreamtale wasn't stated to being infinite in size and embodying a concept doesn't make you outerversal.

To remind, the light attacks that monsters does are not light but magic.
Those not even made from light itself, they legit made from magic like every other magic attacks.
Thats same with monsters looks like animals but they actually not an animal.
If Error used his attack that could eliminate every AU and actually goes through with it then while nightmare might not die he'd still be weakened severely since Error would wipe the vast majority of people whom would be feeling negative emotions which would mean nightmare's power source and thus his own strength would be at an all time low. There's definitely a handful of beings that could likely stick around in an anti-void, the void, someplace like the omega timeline, or just have the durability to survive the hit but all of them would barely be a fraction of what nightmare would've had access to before. Error probably still wouldn't win but it would definitely make nightmare want to cut his losses and run away. So the best Error could get here is likely a stalemate and convince nightmare that it just isn't worth it to try to fight him.
I'm 90ish percent sure the ask blog isn't like completely canon hell I don't even remember the exact percentage and I could be misremembering but I'm sure CQ also said that at one point. Feel free to correct with proof.
I personally always interprited the "slightly above normal sans" as it being about 0 LOVE error sans because it just (kinda?) makes more sense, since he has slaughtered many AUs he should have a high LV and ridiculous stats by this point

Why should Nightmare try to make Error reboot and drop his def and atk to 0 if his durability is still RNG? Maybe to stun him, but it isn't stated how long reboot takes.

Seeing that canon nightmare is apparently possessed by some human who apparently wounded nim the living tree i don't really like that idea at all to me it feels like it takes away from nightmares backstory and the negativity apple itself being what corrupts nightmare so having some random human whos only relevancy to the story and to dream and nightmare at all is wounding the fucking living tree that spawns the magic emotion apples it just feels like a unnecessary addition it also caused me to make up my own headcanon right now about nightmares own negativity and pain and suffering from him being bullied and tormented so much creating the evil goopy nightmare we all know today and that idea honestly sounds more fitting for nightmare in my opinion it just feels more natural to his backstory and the things he went through

A fight with Error should be about as difficult as when you kill Undying on a neutral run on a neutral run but be harder than Sans on a genocide. Sparing Error would require you to make him question why he is doing what he is doing, causing him to reset and allowing you to flee. Geno Error would either be done by giving him a panic attack from fighting someone he doesn't know that he can beat; this causing him to try to use his Multiverse destroying attack but it fails because you kill him before that can happen. His attacks would be chaotic, gaster blasters would be rotated slightly and his bones would act more like Undying spears rather than Sans's attacks.
Nightmare would be vary different. In Neutral he would be as difficult as Asriel and Genocide would be explained later. However in Neutral you would be assisted by Dream and likely Ink and Swap, they would be restrained before the fight but Dream does turn your soul yellow but like enhanced with positive energy or something. He would attack with his tentacles which you could destroy. After a long fight you are able to subdue Nightmare. On a genocide well due to you killing so many people his power has diminished. He tries to attack you but when the attack hits you nothing happens. He just melts down in front of you, only leaving a nightmare apple, not because he has grown so weak but because you are so evil that the feeling of negativity becomes yours to control. You can eat the apple but nothing happens because there is nothing to change.

And he can manipulate the Anti-Void code (which should give him reality alteration and space-time manipulation). Unfortunately his limits were not made clear by the cancellation and his true power is a mystery.
