Love watching the long POV runs, I often put music on and play these in the background while I'm working
Nice, I'm planning on travelling around Europe and doing all the longest runs this winter coming!
10:30 of pure joy! Good to see you back on snow, mate!
Thanks man, hope you're well dude!
@@malcolmmoore I‘m fine, got my first injection. 🙌 And I‘m riding my gravel bike like there‘s no tomorrow. 😅
@@thomasgebhard3332 nice, keep the legs working! I had my first jab about 2 weeks ago, can't wait for things to be back to normal!
@@malcolmmoore Me too! 🤞
Hello there! long time viewer, first time commenter haha
Anyway I’ve been to a few ski resort in the US and yes they are always so perfect! I love it
I’m going snowboarding in France next year and I’m super excited to see how the terrain and resorts differ
Hi Malcolm Definitely Ride Warpig 👍good to see lifts open again
Yep, correct! 🙌
Another amazing video. Almost hurled when you said it was mid June!! Epic. Still stuck in China for work. If I leave now, I won't be able to get back. But this video makes me wanna quit and just move there haha. Keep it up Malcolm, hope to see you soon!
Hi. I love ur videos!
Thanks!
Wow conditions look amazing for June! Nice vid, I enjoyed the commentary.
Thanks Wyatt!
Hi Malcolm, looks like the Warpig. loving the gold shimmer!
It is! Might start spraying all my boards!
Warpig ? Great to see a new video to remind us what we’ve been missing. Wish I could be there. Hopefully more videos to come.
Yeah, I'll be working on a few more, I'll be trying to get across at least once a week!
Loved it!! Thanks for the video
gonna be here in 2 weeks, thought I'd come see how it is for boarders and it seems very nice, cannot wait
Conditions right now are so good! Hope you're having a great time 🙌🏼🙌🏼
So mich fun to watch. Thank you very much.
Thanks for watching 🙌
Great video as usual! Nice to hear you are getting back to a bit of normality over there! Cheers
Thanks Ted!
Wonderful, i loved it !!
Thanks a lot!
Love the gold board
Looks like a Warpig with a Dancehaul inspired make over 'DancePig'!
Exactly! 💯
I've got new plans for my weekend. I haven't ridden in France this winter due to covid and also a bit of snow in the hot summer always feels good. :)
Get to 2Alpes!
16 days to go until I’m boarding there! Yay!
Cool enjoy!
awesome video buddy glad to see you up n about again
Thanks 👍 So good to be back!
This makes me want to hit the slopes again, I only went snowboarding once which was recent this year, as a first-timer I was struggling very badly, so far I've managed to get used to using my heels however I have not managed to figure out how to use my toes, I still need to master a technique called the Falling Leaf, it was honestly very frustrating however I kept encouraging myself to keep going and I'm hoping someday I could get better so I can go down bigger slopes. I really like your videos of you riding your snowboard down the slopes, especially like this one and I feel like I learned something from you
Thanks, I shall make some more!
Enjoy summer, good luck
Thanks, you too!
Wow this is amazing
I can’t believe I’m here so fast
I may have missed you saying it but where are you?
Les 2alpes in France 🇫🇷
I love practicing my carving on harder, icy snow. I've noticed when I do that my carving is way better when I'm on softer snow.
Yeah, the worse the conditions you ride, the better you'll get!
The Warpig? Great to see you back on the slopes and showing us some of the white stuff
Correct, thanks, and so good to be back!
Damn that looks good! I am gonna spray paint my Warpig too!
You should!
How did u spray paint your warpig?! It’s beautiful 🤩 I wanna do it to mine. Make a tutorial please
Just a can of spray and some masking tape over the board to make the lines!
@@malcolmmoore Did you polish the top sheet before spraying it?
Nice!
Thanks Troy!
Warpig. I guessed it before seeing other comments. It’s a pity I can’t ride warpig because I am a petite female, but I have tried psychocandy to get the similar feeling. Glad to see your new video.
If I didn't know psycho candy was the name of a board this comment would be way funnier! And correct on the warpig!
What’s going on up on those mountains? Always a blue sky! Must only snow at night so that Malcolm can shoot a nice bluebird video for us.
Haha, yeah, camera only comes out on bluebird days!
sooo niiiice
The Warpig! Oh, I have to get to the 2 Alps soon
Conditions are all time this summer!
Mint 😀 lucky you .in June great!
I know, so nice up there!
Hi Malcolm, great vid. Can't believe that's in June! We're actually looking to go December this year and I know you mentioned you usually board in Alpe D'Huez during the winter. Would you recommend Les Deux? All I've read is that December can be hit and miss pretty much in most areas in Europe, so might be a risk!
Warpig obviously 😉 and lol at the amount of people asking why you dont straightline every run 😂😂😂 nice to see you shredding a resort that is actually open, will the french resorts be open come the winter season?
Correct! Yeah, I'm pretty sure everything will be back to normal this winter! Can't wait!
Painted Warpig, great to see you back in business. Some passages would have allowed Eurocarves.. how could you resist the laydown opportunity?😂
Could be last euro days before summer slush and bumps. Some passages had already the wavy rockhard bumps on fresh morninig slope. Hintertux has closed down the park. I can enjoy this week with some luck last eurocarves of season before the uncarveable summerbumps come there as well up. Miss the park already..
I'm just getting my park legs back, but I'll need some off camera practice before anything is ready for youtube!
@@malcolmmoore the 100 ways to fail on rails... never could imagine that to be so painful.. until I started this season🙈
@@winterzahn haha yep, I tend to prefer jumps, but I do need to hit the rails a bit too!
Ha! Your hair at the end😄
Eeeek!
That's definitely a Warpig... I love mine :)
You got it!
Warpig! I own one and its my primary board
Its a beast!
Nice n crunchy! Hows the park in L2A that time of year?
The earlier you can get out the better! It changes year to year depending on how much snow there has been, sometimes August is OK, this year it was fine, but sometimes it is pretty ropey!
Man, that condensation spot on your GoPro! 😬😄
I know! Such a problem with the max lens mod, think I'm going to stop using it!
@@malcolmmoore I got this with my GoPro7. It’s caused by temperature differential, used to carry my GoPro in my inside jacket pocket where it got warm. As soon as it hit the cold air it would star condensing. Try carrying the GoPro in an outside jacket pocket. I also used leave the GoPro outside for an hour before hitting the slopes to acclimatise to the cold.😉👍
Nice ride! Wish i was there :) BTW, there's some strange big blurry spot in the center of the picture (and it's moving).
Yeah, its pretty annoying, its condensation in the gopro max lens mod. It is moving due to the stabilization software in the gopro.
Nice ride! Going to try and make it to the Alps this December (coming from the US). What resorts do you guys recommend?
I live in alpe d'huez which is a really cool resort, it's not as big as some places, so an expert rider can cover most of it within a few days. Tignes is a favourite resort of mine, big area, linked into val d isère, it always gets good snow. Don't bother with chamonix, it's a cool place but not linked together well as a resort. Some of the resorts in Switzerland are beautiful and have great slopes but man they get busy!
@@malcolmmoore Thanks for the information!
stunning view * _ *
Awesome right?!
@@malcolmmoore yeah, I envy you in a good way :D
I had no idea you could ski that late into the summer in Europe!
Yeah! It's not as good as winter by any means, but still great for summer!
Wish I was there! How are the burton cartels for you? I really enjoy the predictability and smoothness in response, but my toe buckle sometimes comes loose when I’m riding. Does that happen to you too?
Yeah I'm really happy so far, no buckle problems to report. They are just a nice simple binding with not too much to go wrong, some people don't like how you can't adjust every aspect of them, but that just leads to more things that can break!
ITs the Warpig. I wanted one, but ended up buying the Salomon Dancehaul instead. For this video, exactly how you ride here. What would you prefer here? Warpig or Dancehaul?
I would take either, as it is a bit icy in places the warpig has marginally better edge hold in those places. However they just have different feels to them. The dancehaul is more fun popping in and out of shorter turns and has more rebound there, where the warpig rewards slightly longer turns. As it gets more and more slushy though the dancehaul becomes even more fun and surfy!
Is it a Ride Warpig? 👀🤔
Probably not, but I can't find anything else that shape. 😶
Correct 👏
@@malcolmmoore Yes!!! 👌💪
😳
Hi Malcolm. Im up in and around the Portes du Soleil. Thinking of popping down to Les deux Alpes. Is it worthwhile to get 2 full days in? Or just the mornings due to snow turning to slush ?
Yeah it's only possible 7.30am until 12.30, then it shuts down, but you can mountain bike in the afternoon!
It is pretty busy with ski teams at the moment but it's still good. I'm up everyday this week competing in a film festival but give me a shout if you come down! However it's maybe only worth it if you combine it with mountain biking, depends how desperate you are for a shred! I don't always see these message though an Instagram one is always best.
@@malcolmmoore ok if I pop down I'll IG you. Thanks for the tip mate.
9:40 it’s a fylosophy. The French expect above normal ski/board skills, so they don’t bother to smoothen the slopes for you.
Lay down some real nice corduroy here in the states at resorts pristine groomers! warping? medium?
Warpig L 👌
Hmmm you 6’4 plus then lol you made it look small lol I got a super pig in an xl
@@MidWestJigga that's gotta be a beast!
How do the alps compare to Western Canadian Resorts? From the videos there definitely seems to be less trees. Cheers!
Hey Stefan, you just got me having an after work beer! Yeah, so, far less trees because the resorts are generally alot higher, and the trees don't grow up that high. You do get tree runs but especially in recent years they don't get as good snow that low down. Alot warmer too in Europe, it is only just below freezing most of the time, whereas in Canada it stays consistently cold. This makes the snow in Canada, piste and powder, usually alot better! The snow in Europe is much more affected by the temps. The resorts in Europe though are way way bigger. Whistler is on par to some European resorts, but most are bigger, covering huge areas. Also in Europe the off piste is all at your own risk, rather than having to wait for certain areas to open, nobody is going to tell you off for riding a steep face in level 5 conditions with no avalanche kit. I would love to go back to Canada at some point for the powder, but I think I would want to do it as part of a cat skiing or help skiing (if I could afford it) operation. For resort cruising, despite the sometimes worse snow conditions, I way prefer Europe!
@@malcolmmoore haha enjoy the beer mate! Interesting to hear. I've only ever boarded/skied in the Rockies so your response is pretty illuminating :). Thanks for all the great videos. Keep on trucking.
It’s the Ride Dancehaul or is it the Salomon Warpig? 😄
Haha correct! 😄
Gotta be before crimbo trip gagging for it
It looks like a large 154 Warpig.
I thought the hugest peak in Europe was Mt. Elbrus, not Mont Blanc
Yeah, but normally that gets listed as actually being in Russia
im pretty sure thats a ride warpig. have the same board. Awesome vids btw
Thanks, and correct! 👏
I bought that board right before lockdown, still haven’t been able to ride it!! So frustrating 🤬
Is there still snow there ??? I didnt know that
Yep!
my memory aint serving me well because ive rode the park in 2 alpes but dont remember any super long slopes
It's only if there's really good snow cover from winter, it will soon be gone leaving just the top glacier section
That nose should be the Warpig for sure
Doesn't looks very fun!
any terrain park for the summer season there?
also any recommends for best summer parks/ spots for summer riding? cheers for the vids
Yeah, I'll have some videos on that soon, but having missed out on any park this year I'll need a few more days practice before its ready for youtube! But it is looking sick though!
Yeah, 2alpes is great, hintertux is really good too, but the park isn't open all summer. Tignes opens up but no park to the best of my knowledge...
@@malcolmmoore thanks for the reply mate! keep up the good work!
Epic early summer season cover for L2A down to Jandri 😁. Really like your videos but don't fully get why you don't encourage making more natural, longer GS turns using the full width of the hill to control your speed rather than just short-radius, slide-type turns? Cutting over the hill lets you get low and limit your time on the fall line.
The snow was actually pisted with lots of small ridges running down the length, making higher speed bigger turns pretty bumpy, therefore I tried to stay within those lines! Next time though!
@@malcolmmoore Fair point - and probably better to be doing those type turns later in the day at this time of year when it's had a chance to soften. The point you make about French pisting is also very true - and all French resorts seem to be the same for some completely inexplicable reason.
Anyway, keep up the great videos. You're building a really good channel full of useful stuff. You're also really natural in front of a camera. Great work all round 👍✌️😁
How come back on the warpig?!
With its added width its great in the slush, and its a more versatile park board than the dancehaul!
@@malcolmmoore So keeping both and just swapping between, or prefer the warpig over all?
looks like a Ride Warpig size 154
Correct!
WARPIG!
Correct! 👏
The board must be Warpig 154cm

Sounds like sluch.

here i sat watching this video, you've not made a single carve at all mate...
you're just sliding; a carve is a turn that will hardly make scrapy noises.
when on your heel side, make sure your weight is also on your heels.
you are actually shifting your upper body (weight) forwards towards your toes whilst on your heelside.
this will result in insufficient pressure on your heel side and therefore never create a decent carve.
try it, once making proper carves, you can actually gain speed by pushing yourself from one into the next curve.
also: once carving, you'll maintain way more control at high speeds compared to sliding turns.
it will not even be needed to make tighter radius turns on steeper sections.
lean more towards your rear foot, and dig in your edges...
try it dude...!
Thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to give it a go 👍
