What a great series! 🌸 I've been drawn to sewing my own clothes, inspired by of all things, sewing masks (which helped me get familiar with my machine). I'm upcycling my clothes and even other family member's. I get creative with it and I love it!

Your videos are so thoughtful. I have wanted to do surface pattern design for many years. I worked and raised a child alone and didn't have the energy to pursue something that I felt needed a lot of focus. I finally retired and am now of the mind set that the world doesn't need more products - wrapping paper, tote bags, etc. I've researched a bit of the history of pattern design and am leaning towards painting on old clothing to transform it. I continue to create art as though I'll sell it online but haven't gone very far in promoting it. Life is weird.
life is certainly weird. And yes, we clearly don't need more stuff, so what you are describing sounds like a good way to do what you are interested in, while also limiting your impact.
I would just like to add one thing, when you do handmade work it is not comparable to someone who mass produces something. Handmade always takes a lot more time, so even though you might use new materials, comparatively you use very little in the same amount of time and also in terms of value.
Artists and artisan alike often tend to be very careful with materials and try to avoid wasting it, they also are much slower at doing things per hand than with a machine. So a handmade dress is not comparable to fast fashion and if we all would wear and use only handmade products, albeit new, our impact would be a lot less because you don't (and can't) buy as much handmade quality items as mass produced items.
I cant wait til I'm all settled into my new place and can buy one of your pieces, I've wanted to for years. Your work is so unique and well done

je recycle le plus possible pas dans l'art snif( quoique j'ai fait un mobile style capteur de rêves ya qq années pour le jardin et il est toujours là malgré les aléas climatiques! mais le plus possible oui!
beaucoup au jardin d'ailleurs récupéré un mortier près d'une poubelle pour en faire un pot de fleur , une mini console pour support de plante aussi ,des bouts de poteries pour délimiter un espace etc
les récipients en cuisine bricolage etc
en classe je les utilisais aussi ++
et pour le papier toujours !
tout papier publicitaire ,ancien texte etc est réutilisé
le verso pour noter écrire faire des enveloppes imprimer

je mets une vidéo sur youtube tous les vendredis, sauf si je décide de prendre des vacances :)
c'est super tout ce recyclage! :) je pense que c'était de coutume avant mais qu'on a un peu perdu l'habitude, comme les objets ne coûtent vraiment rien maintenant. Mais ça revient petit à petit.
