Hi Stephanie, I'm from Spain and I'm in love with your works, what do you use is polymer clay? Do you dry it in the oven or with a heat gun?
this here is polymer clay and was baked in an oven. I never use heat guns.
Have you read or seen the movie annhialation by jeff vandermeer? So similar to the nature description in his fictional world. Love love this!
People kept telling me about it so yes, I did and indeed there are some similarities. I think it's more a Zeitgeist, you can see that kind of organic colorful growth in a lot of art these days. Climate change and the environmental crisis we are facing is at the core of the art world and many artists are putting nature back in the front.
Stephanie, what is the bent needle tool that you are using to quarter and then 1/8th the ball
you then make the blue starfishie guy?
here all the tools I use czcams.com/video/oqph9A56p38/video.html
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
i have a question. is the clay are colored for your needs or it is colored clay(originally)?
its polymer clay, so it comes in a lot of colors, although she probably mixed several colors together for this ;)
Cool were can I stea....I mean get one of those?
I sell my work on my website directly www.petitplat.fr
Though this specific one has already been sold.
Podrian poner subtitulos en español .?,la música no enseña ,por favor .Gracias estoy suscrita
Why did you choose black clay to sculpt on this time instead of color?
I used black as the neutral color between the bright ones.
I like the concept of nature on man made objects. Though it feels like something is missing: The tin cans are too clean. If the cans were left in the real world, i would expect that there would be rust on the surface, the can to be dinged up or even have holes in them. It would be cool if the plants roots had penetrated the can and were hanging down, inside the can.
You can paint the rust on, or if you have the time: Put salt water on the place where you want the rust to appear, let dry and repeat for a couple of days/weeks (there are other and faster ways, but this seems the easiest). The holes and dents can be made with a blunt and pointy object.
Yes, I understand what you mean. I have thought of it of course, but I do like the shine of the new tin can, it makes it look like it's just been discarded and nature is already taking over.
I find it also suits the artificiality of human lives more as well. It looks more man made in a way, whereas a rusty tin can is already looking more organic.
But your point makes absolute sense and I might rust some future tin cans. :)
