RIVER SEVERN CHUB Fishing at BAA Apley - Bridgnorth in FLOODED & COLOURED Conditions..!

- The volatile weather conditions in late 2023 have minimised the amount of quality river fishing time available.. Join me as I take on BAA Apley in search of winter chub as the River Severn is rising rapidly for the 3rd or 4th time in recent weeks.
The session was never going to be easy from the outset - See how I approach the conditions and try to find a few chub in the limited number of fishable pegs on the BAA (Birmingham Anglers Association) stretch at Apley, just north of Bridgnorth.
The parking for BAA Apley can be found at WV15 5JP or using what3words location unfolds.journals.gladiator.
I've recently created a Rob's Angling Facebook page for my channel - Please like/follow this for additional updates on my angling.
The equipment I used during this session is as follows -
Korum Barbel Rod 1.75lb TC
Shimano ST4000 Baitrunner
10lb Korum Barbel line
6lb Flourocarbon Hooklength
2oz gripper leads
Terminal Tackle - Korum Camo Bolt/Run Kit
Hook - Size 8 Korum Grappler
Hookbaits - Vortex Baits Cheese & Garlic Boosted Cocoons wrapped in home-made Cheese Paste (Danish Blue, Extra Mature Chedder, Shortcrust Pastry and Crushed Garlic.
If you wish to get in touch with me - You can message me via my Facebook Page (Rob's Angling)

Nice tip for making your own paste . Apley is a nice place to fish and in the summer your kept entertained counting the golf balls going in the river 😂
Yes - I’ve noticed that in the past.. It gets feisty on that course from time to time also.. So much for a gentleman’s game! 🤣
Great session, good informative content as always 👌🏼
Cheers Harry 🙏🎣
enjoyed that rob, some good tips too, thanks for sharing, regards mick.
Cheers Mick - Thanks very much 🙏🎣
Very informative vlog, great to hear the thought process. Thank for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it - Good luck on the banks yourself 👍🎣
I’d like to see a video on your paste making Rob. Can you show us how to knock up a steak pie as well? 😂
Another great video 👍
Thanks mate - Steak Slice from Greggs.. Keep it simple 😜
@@RobsAngling 🤣
@@RobsAngling😂😂😂 come on the steak slice pal
What a great video Rob . Idcav thought the Barbel might prefer those chocolate conditions . They seem to love that on rhe River Ribble
Hi Neil, a stack of snow melt went in recently so the water temps are really low currently - Usually this would be ideal clarity for barbel but a lot warmer water temps are needed for them to feed properly. 👍🎣
Thanks Rob , youve taught me something Rob , i didbt know that about Barbel . Thanks very much . Great channel keep it up . 🎣
Another cracking video Rob thanks. Would you ever consider wrapping a bit of cheese on the lead as well or would that create problems?
Thanks Paul.. It’s definitely worth wrapping the lead also. I’d not got enough with me on that session but I would recommend that for sure 👍🎣
Top dangling as per pal 👌 I do layers too.. look like stay puff marshmallow man 😅 but I say ya can take it off but can't put it on.. start warm regulate n stay warm
I'd be up for a paste vid I've never made it just buy it... wouldn't mind a try
Thanks mate - I’ll get a paste vid sorted out later this month 👍
Loved it rob now i will take a barbel rod and paste to my next trip 2x gone breaming on the thames was unfishable doing what you just did would of been the way thx great vid
Cheers Steve - It’s well worth it. Good luck 👍🎣
Fished a flooded match on severn around 1980,,,caught a few stickles back a couple of bullheads and half dozen minnows from a side stream ,and wouldn't let me weight them in as they were not real fish 🐟,,i was the only one to catch ,was robbed
Ouch.. I can imagine why that still lives with you after 40 years.. That sounds harsh. 🙈
Well done 'Rob. Supposed to go drier after tomorrow, the river may start to drop later sometime towards the end of the week. Its been horrendous mate, i think its the wettest year on record. .
Let’s hope so Tony.. It needs to run off and hopefully stay at a sensible level for a few weeks before the annual deluge that seems to appear now each February turns up. 🤞🎣
Enjoyed it as always I've never used those vortex baits whats the shelf like after you've opened a tub ,
They last ages provided you keep giving them a shake every 3-4 weeks to keep the liquid covering the baits themselves. Well worth a try 👍🎣
Very well done sir in what were very adverse conditions, some great info . Could you please tell me do you walk around the perimeter of the field or go straight across it. A cheese paste video would be great. thanks for the upload well done.
Thanks Mark.. You can walk straight across the field.. No need to follow the perimeter 👍
