POLARIS DOWN! 2015 Polaris Sportsman 570 Issues

  • This video recaps the issues we are having with our 2015 Polaris Sportsman 570. The issue is that the four wheeler will idle, but once you press the gas, it dies. It will only idle for about 2 minutes before it dies. This is just part of the issues we have had with this machine. We have less than 400 hours on it and it has been nothing but problems. We believe it's a fuel pump issue. Come along for the journey as we start the process of repairing it.

I have the exact same issue on my 2014 Polaris 570 Sportsman. You are correct that this machine is trouble. I have had power steering issues, Regulator issues and now the fuel pump. When and if I get this running it is going on the market. Thanks for the information and direction.

Man I have the exact same machine with the exact same story, replaced the fuel pump 3 times. Put 2 new batteries in mine. Still doesn’t run. It has 850 miles in it. I think I have spoke the same exact sentences you have! Man these machines seem to be lemons! Glad you got yours running again. Had mine run about 3-4 months at a time. Ran good the first 450-500 miles but the last 300 plus miles have been a total joke!

Yoh bud, i totally understand your comment about things gotta work on a farm! I had such an issue with an old 2nd hand tractor, and you know what, i put a 9mm hole in the fuel tank (actually 3), stood a couple of feet away, and lit it up! It burnt for 2 days and after 10 years the wreckage is still there where i burnt it. Made me feel quite relieved that i never ever had to break my back fixing and struggling with the piece if sh!t.
Unfortunately i didnt make a vid if it, so my suggestion is make a vid and post it to polaris. And if pissivle, use a .45 ACP or 12 ga. 😂
    Good luck.

Little late to the thread, but don't forget about the reliability, dependability, 10 year belt warranty and absolute great ride of a Yamaha Kodiak or Grizzly 700. Ive rode Honda dirt bikes my whole life and I love Honda. But, personally i think Yamaha makes the best ATV's and SXS's. Yup, I'm a sad owner of the 570 sportsman as well Scott. Cattle turds as well !! seems like its a bad apple in a bushel theory, because I hear some people have zero problems !! I've had voltage issues, solenoid issues, relay and battery issues, starter switch issues, brake safety start issues, headlight/tail light issues etc. etc. but, when she does run, shes a goer, as far as a 570 is concerned. Even Polaris forums, can never really narrow down Mechanical/Electrical issues, and always seems to be a guessing game with trial and error.
Next purchase, Can/Am, or Honda.....finished with Polaris

I love your video! I just posted in a Polaris forum I have a love hate relationship with my 2014 570 EFI. I did replace the fuel pump and 3 months later... it's stalling again! You are 100% correct about the poor design of the machine! I have a horse farm and use it everyday! horse poop hauling and all. At my age I don't want to fix stuff I want to play! My grandkids came over and said " Grandma, why are you working on the 4wheeler again?" I said "because Polaris built a piece of big poop!" end of story... still trying to fix the current problem (searching youtube) found you!

I've owned a Honda Foreman for twenty one years and for about twelve of those years it only required basic maintenance. The hour meter broke around 1900 hrs and that was ten years ago. It still starts every time I push the start button. It's a little thread bare now and will require some tlc this winter but if I felt the inclination for new atv I wouldn't hesitate at buying a Honda.

  • @4MRanch

I haven’t been thoroughly impressed with my 2016 either compared to the quality I felt that they had in 98 when I had my 500 sportsman. At like 300 hours I had to replace all the wheel bearings and I’ve had to replace a couple CV shafts and I don’t go muddying or anything just driving around the farm. I also had the foot brake piston go out at 200 hours. We did buy a Ranger in April and so far I’ve had pretty good luck with it no issues so far. My sportsman hasn’t had any engine problems so I’m thankful for that. I agree the battery is in a piss poor location on the old 98 it used to be located up high on the left side of the seat with it being down there they go underwater and get mud and everything packed up there.

I have the same machine and since day 1 it has had starting issues and always drags when starting or takes a few times to start. Then here recently i was driving in the yard at 15 mph and the 4 wheeler cut off on me. I started diagnosing the problem and found after multiple trouble shooting I had to pull the engine and found the i lost a valve and damaged the piston and compeltely destroyed the head. Let me remind you this machine has 53 hours and 115 miles on it and has never seen water or mud. This machine has only been used for at home or deer lease to and from blind. I talked to polaris dealership and since its out of warranty they could do nothing about it. This was a lemon and I will never buy polaris again.

I'm having this same issue out of my 2016. I bought the ATV brand new off the showroom floor and this will most likely be the second fuel pump on this piece of garbage with only 430 miles?! WTF?! I've heard of lemons but these Polaris machines are absolute turds. I've owned Honda after Honda and never had any issues like these. My brother even sank one in a pond and it still ran better than this dang Polaris. It might've smoked a little bit but at least it would idle.

I agree. My next one will be a Honda for sure. Since I repaired the due pump, the fuel gauge has stopped working. I’m still having overheating issues as well.

You can get the pump out no problem… just turn the handle bars to the right half turn. Its really an easy job… i can remove, rebuild and reinstall one of these pumps in less than an hour.

Yeah brother I’m working on a neighbors 2016 570 right now backfire is Pops Bailey idles pulled everything apart I’m gonna run a fuel pressure test on it tomorrow morning I’m guessing it’s the pump because I put my hand over the snorkel on the top of the airbox it actually sucked the case in pretty far and then started to run right so it was Pulling fuel like a bastard,so I’m guessing it’s the pump, but you’re right these things are a bitch to work on in a poor design. I have a 2005 scrambler, and a 2001 that has actually been to hell in back hundreds and hundreds of hours on this machine “carbureted “ no senses, and relatively easy to service…. After watching your channel and talking to people that know Polaris is I guess these particular machines are notorious for bad pumps.

I bought a used Polaris 570 Midsize Ranger, that I knew had issues. I thought I could find the problems and fix them easily. But----- Three codes were showing, and they all pointed to the throttle body. Low voltage, and position sensors out of sync. The dealer was no help. Expensive, and they don't know any more about the Polaris than I do. I ended up finding some wires going to the throttle body that were worn in two. I fixed them, and the three original codes went away, but a new code appeared. It says "the limp home mode position check failed." 0 520280 31 In my attempts to fix the machine, I ordered a used throttle body from a "reputable" company, and so tomorrow, I will put the original throttle body back on the machine and see if that changes anything. it could be that the throttle body I bought is not compatible with my machine. In all the information I have looked at, i have found no "fix" listed for any of the trouble codes listed. You would think that if a trouble code is listed, there would be some information somewhere telling the technician (me) what to do to fix the problem. If you can help, I would appreciate it.

Hello, Unfortunately I’m no help on this one. I would take the same approach you did. Try to understand the code and then work backwards to fix it. All in all, I’m not impressed with Polaris. I bought a kit that included new fuel pump, regulator. You still use the original “frame” that’s inside the gas tank. Unfortunately, it didn’t fix it. However, it will shoot gas out of the tank. So I at least know the new pump is working.

I’ve been having similar issue. When you change the fuel filter do you change hoses. I don’t know much about mechanics but a mechanic said maybe the fuel hose has some crap in it and the crap is being sucked up against the carburetor why it works some times (not for long) and then it starts choking again. I am at wits end as well dealership has no clues. Need to fix and sell as well.

    • @HeritageFarmsTexas
      @HeritageFarmsTexas  Před 3 lety

When we changed the filter, we blew out the hoses with air to make sure there was no debris. In our case, it was strictly the fuel pump.
