Tim has atrocious taste sometimes. And he often says that some of the good things he likes (e.g Crash) are bad as if someone at IGN lectured him that he has the "objectively" wrong opinion, so he uses that tactic against other people over the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies. It's like a cycle of abuse. lol

I love Andy saying how they like a lot bad movies at KF because I'm always blown away they love Fast and Furious but not some other movies. So fun to hear their takes and compare my own friends takes. One caveat is how they all like similar moves... one friend could have a different opinion. Echo chamber?
The point is FF understands what it is and trying to be and doesnt hide it. This movie thinks it is serious as a movie and thinks it’s on par with the best marvel movies
We all enjoy the MCU and most of F&F and if that's all you've watched, you'd probably think we had similar tastes
I tend to agree mostly with all the in review lists give or take a few, but god this list is shambles... to each their own though

For me personally, I really enjoyed this movie. The first one I thought was decent but it had a lot of issues, mainly with its identity. This one I think is much better overall. I actually really enjoy the direction they took with Venom. I think it's fun and entertaining. Not saying this movie is perfect by any means, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I can't believe it. I'm hoping Covid ends up holding this back and Sony stops. I love Carnage, and I didn't mind him in this, but he could've been so much better. It breaks my heart that the only way he'll come back is without Cletus. I wanted to love these movies, I did. I love the symbiotes, but it these movies kill me when watching them.

It's hard to describe the feeling of being a life long Venom fan and leaving the theater pulling up this video and have most of the cast talk about how Venom is in the comics when they've probably read little to none of the comics. At least Tim was there to correct them on some of the things such as Nick saying that Venom is only a villan.
Anyone with even a little interest in Venom should check out the Donny Cates Venom run (Venom 2018-2021) all the way up to King in Black. Some of the best Marvel comics in years to me

Dude you are so spot on!! That’s what frustrated me the most about this video is how little any of them actually know about Venom and Eddie as characters. Like you mentioned the Donny Cates run was phenomenal. And honestly over the entire lifespan of the character (especially whenever Eddie and the symbiote are bonded) Venom has been an antihero far longer than he was a villain. And now after the Cates run he is a flat out hero and one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel universe. So it gets frustrating listening to the Kinda Funny crew (whom I love) just crap all over a film that I really enjoyed (despite its flaws and changes to the source material) especially when they seem to know so little about the characters in the first place.
@@deeganpuchkors9984 Definitely, I don't mind them liking or disliking a character or a movie but it does kind of hurt when they talk about things that they are unfamiliar with with such confidence. Like if you liked or disliked the movie let's hear about that but don't compare movie Venom to comics you haven't even read because fans will immediately pick up on that.
@@Icepick614 Yeah it definitely is odd I haven’t had a chance to see the second one yet. But I could easily see where the first one was grabbing bits and pieces from Lethal Protector, Venom: The Hunger and Sinner Takes All. The comics are still a lot of fun but people need to actually put in the work reading the source material if they want to compare comics to the film not just talk with confidence. Even then my two favorite runs for Symbiotes have been Rick Remender’s Flash Thompson’s Agent Venom run and Donny Cate’s work on Venom.
I agree this made it hard to listen to both this and the Venom recap review. I hate when people make confidentiality incorrect statements. It seems like the only extent of their knowledge comes exclusively from the 90's cartoon.

How can Spiderman 2 not be the best or at least #2? It is the movie that defines all other great comic book movies.
This movie was a freaking fun time. Nothing special, but honestly just FUN. It’s not as good as even medium tier MCU, but it sure beats The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World.
And, by the way Kevin, I love that Venom is part of the MCU now. I hope it keeps you up at night. This is precisely what I was looking for.
How much they don’t know about venom and carnage in the comics and how much they adapt from the comics for this movie. It makes my head hurt. In this review they talk like why is this like this? Why wasn’t cletus kassidy already Carnage? Why is shriek with Carnage If sound is one of his weaknesses? Why would cletus bite Eddie if he doesnt have the carnage symbiote in him already?Either pick up the maximum carnage volume, or watch a quick video on CZcams about carnage so you don’t sound unintelligent. A little research before going to see the movie isn’t hard. I love these guys but this one felt like they did no research and just went in to the film with a agenda
Thing is that such things have to make sense in the films as well, since the comics and the films don’t share a canon. The “read the comics” argument doesn’t work because films are adaptations, new versions of the stories. If they don’t make sense within their own canon, then they’re just bad films. The source material is irrelevant in trying to make sense of the adaptations.
In defense Nick, Andy didn't write the film. There was only one name, Kelly something. She or he wrote the film. Tom helped with the story. Andy was just there to direct it because of his knowledge and experience with CGI.

A Thunderbolts movie with Hardy's Eddie/Venom, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Florence Pugh - Yelena, Bruhl-Zemo and Jon Bernthal - Punisher vs. Valentina's Dark Avengers (USAgent, maybe Deadpool - his excuse could be that he'd finally get to be an avenger) That could be cool. Get James Gunn to direct it and shit will get wild, yo.

Its funny. If you liked the first one, you'd probably like this one since it had more of the same. I fall in the camp that likes the film. Also the end-credits scene had me so hyped.

Eddie doesn't act weird at the dinner scene tho. Michelle Williams did. She literally asks him out for dinner, then when he goes she mentions she's getting engaged and Eddie doesn't even act weird, he's not jumping with Joy but he's trying to be happy for her. He's confused and emotional but she starts snapping like he did something wrong. Funhaus breaks it down great on their review...but yea it was hot garbage. The first one I liked but only because it had some fun elements that I assumed they'd improve on. The bad parts were terrible but the good fun made up for it enough... this film did the opposite of what I thought it would tho. It accentuated the bad parts and left the good aspects on the cutting room floor

This movie reminded me of the Spawn movie. In addition to the terrible dialogue, terrible effects, and paper thin storyline, it has that awkward 90s camp quality to it.
The second act is literally, Venom leaves then 10 minutes later comes back after a intentionally ingenuine apology.

Unfortunately I think you guys are going to be very upset. I don’t think that mid credit scene is putting Venom in the “MCU.” Tom Holland’s MCU contract is up after No Way Home which means if they don’t re-up then the Tom Holland Spidey comes back to the Sony-verse. I think it’s more likely that that’s what’s happening. Once the contract is up and Spiderman can’t interact with Nick Fury and Captain America, etc, he can fight venom in either the next Spidey movie or Venom 3
This is basically Batman&Robin. So bad, that it's funny, but never would I say it's good. Anyone who legitimately thinks it's a good movie, are out of their minds.

Look, Venom is now in the MCU. Kevin Fiege ain’t gonna let anyone come into his sandbox and fuck it up, so maybe it’ll be like Spidey where Marvel gets creative freedom but Sony gets the box office for solo films.
I think it would’ve been a lot cooler to have Andrew Garfield show up, making it connect to that universe, but I’ll take what I can get.
As for the actual movie, way better than the first but the bar was extremely low. I enjoy seeing Tom Hardy and Woody have a blast with these characters, but they’re just not great movies. I think the dynamic with Eddie and Venom is great. Cheesy but gruesome when needed. I guess this version of Eddie is just gonna hate Peter because he can’t get back home? Let’s see what they do.

@@lexis4490 we’re getting another MCU Spidey trilogy so it won’t be any time soon. That’s why I think it would’ve been better to have this connected to the amazing Spider-Man universe. That way, Sony can do their own thing while MCU still has a Spider-Man as well.
If anything, this just makes me more worried for Spidey’s future. I don’t want these writers anywhere NEAR Spider-Man. I disliked much of Far From Home already…

@@ANTIStraussian that was just the original contract between Sony and Marvel. A trilogy and two other MCU appearances (Infinity War and Endgame). Then Sony and Marvel came into a new agreement to keep Spidey in the MCU for now. He’s presumably getting another trilogy in college.

the movie was alright, the action was fun and venom (the symbiote) was very endearing. My biggest issue is there seems to be some real bad editing issues where people will be in a place they seem to have just left and it feels like they cut out key scenes.

You could easily take this Venom into the MCU and if it's a Feige produced Marvel Studio movie I have full faith they're going to do what they need to do to make a good movie and not care if it conflicts with what happened in the Venom movies. I wouldn't worry too much about Venom showing up in the MCU and it being shit. I just don't think they'll let that happen. Let Sony make the bad stuff.
