Goalkeeping is all about angles and making yourself big. I was the youngest kid chucked in goal at 4 playing kids twice my age. I remember a kid explaining to me the basics and I became quite good. Scaling up to full scale posts and area is quite a shock too. No longer are you playing on a concrete 5 a side pitch (ouch, the memories!) but the striker has a lot more area to aim for. There are some places of the goal you aren't saving.

I started seeing that a lot of the comments were calling him fake and not good, but honestly I didn't know what to think. I'm 14 and recently got into keeping, so I really had no idea of what to expect as good or bad saves. I couldn't understand whether Mike was genuine or not but now I know the truth. His content is still entertaining but I will never watch it to improve myself or learn from it. Thanks đ
We play on the same field often and itâs all for the camera. He takes a break after every 10 seconds and messes up often but thatâs not whatâs put on camera. clearly is fake and just doing it for the camera
mate this video made my day, i've been waiting for someone big in the gk union to make a video calling him out like this, i'm 13 and i totally agree with the fact that at this age technique is the most important aspect.
I agree Iâm 12 turning 13 in 3 days and my training sessions are all about technique and I would ask sometimes why werenât we working on high saves and the answer I got was always the same âsafety always comes before the ballâ and I totally agree with that because I have watched countless kids even though I am young myself get injured from simple dives
I play ice hockey as a goalie and there is still drama among other goaltenders so it is nice that this is also the case among keepers in soccer/football
Im totally agree with you. As amateur goalkeeper playing for my high school in U-18 even my coaching team never teach me like that. Its crazy to do that. M. Goalkeeping should teach us basic cacthing, timing run to get ball, how to 1vs1,basic diving and landing.

@Michael Mooney not really, he failed on an attempt to become professional. There is much more to football than fancy skill moves, diving saves and trick shots
I was on Facebook and I saw a bunch of friends who donât even play football praises his stuff. He truly makes his content for the for those ignorant towards the game
3 years on, and Bolvin was badly exposed in the TST 7s games. His lack of playing actual football matches and dealing with situations that arise organically in games over the past few years was quite evident.
I would love to see him take actual shots from a real player not from someone tossing him the ball slowly. I mean come on my grandmother would save a toss like this
the worst of all is that he knows where the ball is going which makes it easier, meanwhile in a real game, you do all that dumb stuff and you still don't know where the striker is going to shoot.
Almost any outfield player could make such saves lol. Doing it in real game is much harder than having a ball tossed or kicked in a pre determined direction
I think to this day, this remains one of the best exposing videos of all time. None of that twitlonger drama, none of that beauty community gossip, just straight up a guy who claims to be something he's not and is called out for it.
Stumbled on this in my recommended. No clue that GK Instagram pages have drama and weirdly this is one of the best videos I've seen in a while hahahaha.
I've never seen any game action so I never took him seriously. Anyone can look good on Instagram. And enough with the side volleys. It's not rocket science
It is so good to hear someone else call out this type of "training". You said it best with the type of flying saves they do. They know where the ball is going, they flight of the ball is slow and straight, but yet the young keepers see that and say, it looks so easy, why can't I do that in a game??? It is challenging to talk to these young kids when they see this, to tell them that its not really what happens in a game. They see this guy as reality but it isn't. Same thing goes with coaches. They see this type of content and EXPECT my keepers to catch everything. I just tell them, "let us watch a professional game together, let see how many times out of 10 the keepers actually catches a ball, let alone a ball that is away from their body" Then the coach says "well they are hitting it harder with better technique". This is true, however, the kids at their age, would be similar to another adult at their age. THen I say lets watch American goalkeepers in a game, same thing, then college players, same thing. The actual catching of a ball is rare in games compared to the other techniques of parrying, tipping, communication, angles. All of which is makes a better keeper, than some flying save on a slowly tosses or shot ball at a location the keeper already knows where the ball is heading... Rant over haha. anyway. Good to see keepers like you talking about reality. -Coach Jason Norsic stlgoalies
Love goalkeeping, probably trained my hardest to become a good goalie and let me tell you. I would rather practice positioning, Leg and knee placement , maybe punching or catching the ball sometimes. I WOULDNT EVEN DARE to risk an easy pick up and make it look like a hard save. That is subbing of potentiak and getting subbed of when your goalie is embarrasing. If you want to practice reflex? There are machines capable of doing that or you can get you team to shoot on you one by one after tactical and passing drills. But those are usually at the end. Positioning, body placement, Controlling the defence, short throws, long throws balk roll, punching, moving out to catch the ball... All of that is very important
When I was a kid... and I still am... I used to throw or kick the ball into the wall so that the ball bounce to the "top corner" of "the goal" and I would dive to push it away and it is super easy... like really easy. But when I get into a match I can't react in time so I just stood there and watch the ball flew into the goal... helplessly
Aaron LFC*YNWA* Actually all of Mike's "training drills" are really easy because it is all planned, he knows where the ball is gonna go, it is not that impressive. In a real match you don't know where the ball is gonna go and still fly through the air to push it away, now that is impressive
I had played as a goalkeeper quite sometimes now..and believe me, its very a rare chances that your gk reflexes work during a match, also you will feel a lot of pressure and cant really do all the crazy saving skills like mike does
You need to do a step in front , for the example if the ball is in the right your foot need to do a step in the right but in also in front if you r position is good you don t need to do ,,SUPER SKILL MODerN GOLKEEPER 2020"
Instagram âgoalkeeperingâ at its finestâŠPeople should watch guys like Gk goluremi of course, themoderndaygk, Conor O Keefe etc to actually learn from the pros
On the bit about putting the kid in danger, as a kid I played a game with my cousin, who at the time played for a club. My Oisin took loads of power shots on me and for the rest of the day everywhere was sore and since then I havenât been able to goalkeep at all. One of my friends had something similar happen and he had the same consequences. So after that, itâs quite possible that the kidâs goalkeeping future has ended. Even when me and the friend donât play in goal, what happened still has that subconscious effect on us
you know, i was a goalie when i was very young, but a lot of the times when i dived, the kid on my team kicked the ball away. i also didnt know how to dive so a lot of the time i got hurt. it was like a high risk low reward situation and led to me eventually become too scared to be a goalie. i play in the field now, but i refuse to play goalie because i hate diving so much. i can see how this could ruin bobby's confidence with those types of situations.

I dunno, Morgz causes brain rot, MG is basically saying that you should injure yourself. Honestly, Iâd prefer it if my child was watching Morgz instead of mg, because Iâd be like âwell, at least heâs easily satisfiedâ.

Hiya. Just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I've been watching some of Mike's content for about a month now and at first I really believed he was a great goalie. Thanks đ

I've never seen any game action so I never took him seriously. Anyone can look good on Instagram. And enough with the side volleys. It's not rocket science
He also clickbaited training with jan oblak but he actually only trained with a guy who looks like oblak...

Bro the audacity to say â iâm over the pro level â is disrespectfull to all players who are trying to become a pro
When I was a kid... and I still am... I used to throw or kick the ball into the wall so that the ball bounce to the "top corner" of "the goal" and I would dive to push it away and it is super easy... like really easy. But when I get into a match I can't react in time so I just stood there and watch the ball flew into the goal... helplessly
All of mikes videos were crazy goalkeeping skills..but when you played in a real match you barely can do that skills..it needs massive reflexes
Aaron LFC*YNWA* Actually all of Mike's "training drills" are really easy because it is all planned, he knows where the ball is gonna go, it is not that impressive. In a real match you don't know where the ball is gonna go and still fly through the air to push it away, now that is impressive
@@danvo6792 true..during real matches you (as a goalkeeper) even get your "feet stuck" and just watch the ball fly passes you too..
