Living in zone 3 on the Canadian Prairies presents unique challenges for homesteading and herbalism. The harsh climate, dry and nutrient-poor soil, and risk of drought are just a few of the obstacles we face. However, we have found ways to adapt, using new technologies, crop genetics, and gardening techniques. We also source plants from other regions and dry and store them for future use. We are excited to share these tips and techniques with you.
We are inspired by our grandfather, who taught us the value of determination and the importance of living in harmony with nature. His love for gardening and herbalism has stayed with us throughout our lives, and we are honored to carry on his legacy.

@@groundskeepercody6013 hats off - you get so much done indoors in preparation. I loved the nature shots. A native bird of prey we have here is the sparrow hawk. They are very elusive, I had the pleasure of seeing one. It caught a pigeon on my plot right in front of me.

Hey Cody! I've done this as well with my snake plants! The only thing I regret is the aesthetic look of the cut leaves - I'm thinking I should cut those all the way down to below the soil line so it stops bugging me haha. Did you know that in 2018, the genus sansevieria was actually reclassified as dracaena? because of deeper genetic research they were able to do. so the scientific name for this plant used to be Sansevieria Trifasciata but has been changed to Dracaena Trifasciata. I think it's still widely referred to as sansevieria because it's been called that for so long. Sorry I'm rambling, it was just something I was super interested to find out a couple of years ago and wanted to share

Great idea! I've got some sansevieria leaves that are not as deep green as I would like, so I might cut those off the mother plant and try your method. Do you eventually cut off the bit that sticks out of the ground once the daughter plant is established? Thanks so much!
