INFERNO KITCHEN 🔥 Da Lat's Famous Banh Mi Chao | Vietnamese Street Food

- More sticky rice to start this day off in Da Lat. This time at a lady that has been serving up various styles of sticky rice for over 42 years. A popular spot that locals grew up eating as you can see many kids eating before they head to school. Out of the three versions I tried, picking a favorite is nearly impossible as her sticky rice shines as the star of the meal. Perfectly cooked from years and years of perfecting her craft.
Now for something that is a Da Lat special. The Banh Mi Chao. High levels of inferno heat over a cast iron plate with decadent ingredients such as: pate, mayo, cheese, butter, meat, and oil. Screaming hot when it arrives at your table and screaming to have Da Lat’s special Banh mi dipped in it. One of Vietnam's most indulgent dishes.
Now for one final meal, but this time it is a combination of two. First I had to go and grab some of my favorite snacks, Banh Trang Trong and Goi Xoai. Now the main making these is something special. He used to live in Saigon, but moved to Dalat three years ago. For me, he holds the title for the best Banh Trang Trong and Goi Xoai in Dalat and possibly in Saigon.
After I grabbed the snacks, I headed back to city center for a dish you can only find late at night, Hot Vit Lon. Now, while not for everybody this is just something I have to have a few times every week. The perfect after dinner snack or even pre meal. My favorite thing to do is combine hot vit long with other snacks like the banh trang tron so I can make the ultimate meal.

By the end of this year Max should have enough material to publish the book “Banh Mi 101”. 🥖🥖🥖 He even pronounce it correctly and I’m not even Vietnamese to know that. 😋😋.
You wake up at about 4:30am. Walk around when it's still dark and very cold. Find and get a small cup of hot soy milk or cacao. That was one of the best experiences of mine in Đà Lạt. You can feel the way people here are living, slowly and relaxed. Very different from the way people in Sài Gòn live.

Yeah, I'm Vietnamese and I've never done it. But I'm not an adventure eater like my mom as I tend more towards my dad's side for eating. But I think I can do hot vit lon if it's the quail eggs cooked in tamarind sauce like Sonny showed in his $1 videos a while back. That actually looks tasty!

So happy the Xoi lady kept the very old tradition of using banana leaf on a piece o paper, I hate everything in styrofoam boxes and plastic bags nowaday in big cities.
Yes, always makes me happy to see when they use the banana leaf. I wish everyone would do it more often as opposed to using things that will contribute to more trash that cannot be recycled. Plus, the banana leaves impart a nice fragrance and flavor (if the food is steamed in it).

Man I wish the background song/music was this one "Thành Phố Buồn" . It's one of the most iconic songs of all times! You can feel all the sadness, see the beauty of Đà Lạt in that song. It gives me chill every time I listen to it. Perhaps Max will play it in the next video.

I miss Đà Lạt so so much, where I was born. We left Vietnam when I was very young. I don't remember much, but Đà Lạt will always have a special place in my heart. Such a beautiful place. I miss sửa đậu nành và sửa đậu phộng.

after eating Vietnamese food. you should find a spacious place ... shade trees, wind ... bring a glass of water depending on your mood. suggestions :
Morning: coffee [milk, black, eggs, etc.), or fatty juice.
Lunch: coffee, lemonade, or whatever relaxes your mind
Afternoon: Whatever you like but don't drink too much coffee.
- In the afternoon You should do a sport or vigorous exercise to release the accumulated energy before eating dinner.
have enjoy and get happy every day.
always enjoy your food tour, great to taste from the local/ street vendors, that mungbean with sticky rice reminds us of Indonesian dessert.

Living in the Bay Area and being part of Viet cultural clubs but not being able to still take part of it and also visit Vietnam because of COVID sucks. However seeing your channel reminds me of my own culture brings my roots back into my life again! Although I miss my family in Vietnam, especially because I couldn’t visit my grandma since she’s ill, I can feel like I keep in touch with the country by watching your videos! Mr45271 Everytime I ate Waffle House $12 Steak and Eggs, I cried craving for the Vietnamese Bánh Mì Chảo, also called Bò Né (sizzling steak), which incorporates so many flavors and ingredients for less than $3... 😭😭😭
@@mantrile Bánh Mì Chảo and Bò Né are not the same thing though they have similar way of cooking. There must be beef in Bò Né, but in Bánh Mì Chảo, you can cook with whatever usually with pork ribs, eggs and sausages. You might have not lived in Vietnam for a long time.

I have recently watched your video depicting the food scenes in Dalat. It is my birth place and hometown growing up. I can't believe there are so many new dishes that I don't remember eating as a kid. Thanks for sharing your experiences of my hometown. I have not been back since 2016. Your videos make me want to go there now. A lot of shots and scenes of the town bring back happy memories. Are you living there or just visiting? The weather is getting hotter there due to so many hotels and trees cut down for development. The climate used to be a lot cooler. What would you say the average day time temp there? Max is eating good there. Im jealous. I like those eggs esp the quail balut. I want some. He is eating it the right way. Sipping the juice. Dip with salt n pepper, dont forget rau ram herb.
