No other generations childhoods compare to those of us who grew up in the 70s. It was the last decade of sincerity in our culture. It also produced a seemingly inexhaustible supply of brilliant creativity that created a sense of wonder and happiness within us. Just thinking about the TV shows, theme tunes and music of that era brings a tear to my eye. We miss you 1970's, we will never forget you
Absolutely. I was born in 1970, so remember the later part of that decade and the programmes shown, including Play School and Play Away. Quality at a time when only three channels existed. Ironically, with more channels the poorer offerings given!
@@angelacooper2661 Yes, it's ironic. The more choice we've had, the worse the output has seemed to get I would say the creative brilliance of the 70s tapered off in the mid-80s, although we've still had occasional bursts of brilliance here and there. My wife appeared in the audience of Play Away audience in the early 80s. I wish I had it on video! Do you remember how BBC2 didn't come on until around 5.30pm in the early evening? Younger people can't believe it now when I tell them that in the 70s we only had 2 and a half television channels!
I 100% agree with your comments. Everything had so much character back then from cars, amusing adverts and even the regional logos before the ITV programmes started. Today’s world just seems so joyless and bland compared to then.
@@leewebster3521 In the 21st century people have become jaded and miserable. They cannot find joy in anything. It's a very sad state of affairs. I'm glad you mention regional TV idents. They were all incredible and they invoked a sense of history, identity and pageantry Perhaps our biggest failing as a society is that we no longer treasure, celebrate and respect our heritage and our past?
Fantastic Upload and thankyou. Not a bad choice for a potential ring-tone, haha :-) What a world we lived in back then - loved all this tuition from our terrestrial channels back then. Now we have a universe full of technology yet the kids of today don't even know the basics!
Cooooooooooool. That's been my ringtone for the past 6 months.

Wow. Whoosh! Straight back to the seventies
Prog rock for kids . Wonderful stuff .
oh their god! I am 6 years old again.
Here comes the big telly!
Wheeled in from nowhere with all the kids sat cross legged on the floor.
@@eclectica1 And the smell of school dinners wafting through the corridors....mmm!
Yes, with big, slide out shades because if you had the window on the side that you were watching from you'd cop the reflection.
I remember this programme when at infant and junior school with Chris Tarrant narrating. The tune is in A minor. A hark back to childhood!
Time to roll out the big telly on wheels

Have just made it mine.
Love it and takes me back to sick days at home watching this and other programs. And by the way was the guitarist high when he played on this? 🤣
🤣 The guitarist fucked up so many times.
Does anybody know what the piece is called?

Any idea what it was as the reply from 80's synth fan isn't showing? @@clangerbasher
