Just a channel for nostalgia addicts like myself, wallowing in television themes from our childhood.
WEBSTER'S PENNINE BITTER ADVERT THEME
A bit of a difference with this upload, featuring music from an advert of many decades ago.
If anyone remembers the Webster's Pennine Bitter ads from the very early 1970's, then this may ring a bell.
The only vague imagery I remember is a bunch of coal miners, walking across a field after finishing their shift.
The music used was the 'Cornet Carrilon' by Ronald Binge.
Not sure if this is the music as used in the ad, but it does 'sound right' compared to other versions I have heard.
The advertisement itself is nowhere to be seen on the internet and is probably languishing in the National Archives somewhere.
Maybe we should ask Network DVD to research and release a disc with all those much-loved ads of yesteryear?
'March The Tailor' would be a good one for that compilation!

Got bored and decided to remix the season 2 theme into stereo, without the sound effects. Funny how many people always think of this as the first theme, when in fact Lalo Schifrin did the music for season 1. Also another example of how the TV version sounds funkier and BETTER than the Tom Scott original.

BBC TV series concerning adult literacy, which aired between 1975-76. It seemt the series was written by 'Point Of View' presenter Barry Took and the following series - 'Your Move' and 'Write Away' - were also his work. This Alan Hawkshaw composition is performed by The Dooleys.

This has to be one of the most beautiful TV themes I have ever heard. I never saw the series - or heard the theme before - but this is just so good. Quality actors starred, such as Ian Hendry and Wanda Ventham ( Benedict Cumberbatch's mum ). Like Zorba the Greek, but on valium.......nice....

Hello , Yes but on region 2 Pal format. Anyway episodes are here on YT.
Actually also on remastered Blu-Ray... The quality is as if they filmed it last week! Stories are superior and keep you guessing.
Thanks to television producers adopting classical music as theme music for their programmes, people know much more about classical music than they think.

Just reminds me of sunshine and lots of water despite the fact most of the contestants looked like they were freezing cold. I used to be in stitches at this and those scoreboard girls added even more kitsch to the proceedings. I even remember one of them getting her hand stuck in the sliding score numbers. Wish I could watch them all over again.
Wonderful joyous music ,really should be heard more often. Andre rieu should look at some of laurie johnson music and others for tv and film ,hidden gems.
Donald Fagan and Walter Becker were never really properly appreciated for this minor work of genius.

As much as I thought that Series 2 was so inferior to Series 1, I thought the theme tune was better (probably it's only saving grace)
