How to Rewire an Old Lamp

i really want to do this to my stiffel lamps. what is preventing me is i’m nervous about removing the felt at the base of the lamp. 😢

In my experience, it comes off really easily without tearing it and you can glue it back on, but I totally get not wanting to ruin an expensive piece!

The opening for wiring is on side of lamp. How do I feed wiring in side, then get new wiring to go vertically up through lamp?

I haven't re-wired a lamp like that, but it should be easy once you disassemble the socket, it should be really easy to remove the old wires. As for the new wires, in my experience, there's no good way to get the wires back up. You could try tying a string or something towards the end, tipping the lamp over and allowing the string to pop through the top, then pull the wires. I've also used pliers too.
