    I love the basket, also. That desk turned out beautifully, too. You can make your own wipe on poly, too. Just mix it with mineral spirits. You can control how thick you want a coat way better and save a ton of money. I just finished using a quart of poly I bought 3 summers ago.

      The best way I've found to keep my bread from getting hard is to wrap it in a beeswax wrap first, then place it in either a linen bread bag or a plastic bread bag. The beeswax wraps makes a HUGE difference I've noticed.

      If you use a really good paint like the one I did, you don't really see any strokes with the paint brush, but you could use a roller or if you've got one, a paint sprayer, which will give you the smoothest look.

    4:01 It is an older lamp socket but it is perfectly fine to use if it still works. It IS polarized but just doesn't have one brass and one silver screw. The neutral wire terminal is 180° opposite of the switch and has a triangular shape and the hot wire terminal is the other one (on most of these sockets). The hot wire terminal hangs lower and is slimmer on your lamp socket, just like it is the slender of the two spades on the plug end (the neutral spade on the plug is the one with a wider head).

  • @Hjerte_Verke
    @Hjerte_Verke Před měsícem

    3:35 The socket can be split in two without tools. Look for the "PRESS" engraved into the top portion of the socket (it is usually adjacent to the switch knob). Put your thumb there and your index finger 180° opposite and gently squeeze. This will slightly deform the top and allow the "teeth" in the top half to disengage from the row of dimples stamped around the circumference of the base. It takes some Mom Strength to do it, or just use a thin screwdriver and pry at those two spots (where your thumb and index finger lie) and it will come apart.

    When you remove the dough from the bowl after the folding it few times try not to break the dough, let it flow on the table by its own coasting it slowly to preserve the gassiness of it. When you pre shape it, the loaf should have pillow like feeling when you fold it over. Don't over ferment it so the gluten keeps its elasticity, and the bread will not be flat on the edges. I experimented with bulk fermentation time between 25 and 100% raise and 25 to 75% is full prove. 100% only with high protein flour over 13.5%. It took me few frisbees before everything clicked in

    • @thesimplehomeplace
      @thesimplehomeplace Před měsícem

      That's super helpful, thank you! I definitely need to do some more experimenting for sure :)

  • @fancyfaceb
    @fancyfaceb Před měsícem

    You definitely let it overgrow on that bulk ferment. And then you deflated it completely when you took it out of the container you had it in. A couple of things - get yourself a flexible plastic bowl scraper (they're only a couple of bucks and worth it) - use it wet to dislodge the dough from your bowl and wet your hands when handling the dough. There is a video on Food52 about sourdough with Sarah Owens that I really recommend to adjust your bread process a bit to get better results. Also, line that silicone bowl with a linen towel for your fridge retard and add lots of flour so it doesn't stick. No matter what, the bread pretty much always ends up delicious - so that's a win! :)

    How has this held up a year later? I got a mixer for a great price on facebook marketplace, but the color is a little meh. Thinking about painting it. Curious how the spray paint has done after time and with use- it looks so good! And I love the color you chose.

    • @thesimplehomeplace
      @thesimplehomeplace Před měsícem

      Thank you! Overall the paint has held up nicely. There are a few spots where it's come off a bit, but I'm pretty sure that's because I store it in a cabinet and have banged it as I get it out of the cabinet, multiple times. If I did it over again, I probably wouldn't have painted the knobs. They've held up okay, but don't look as great as I'd like. Maybe going in with a better paint/primer would have been a better solution. I also wouldn't have sealed the bottom plate where the bowl goes just because of the constant moving of the bowl. Plus no one really sees it, so it's really no big deal. I hope that helps and good luck if you decide to paint your new-to-you mixer :)

    ANY OIL, ALCOHOL, BUTTER, WD-40, MINERAL OIL, or alcohol will remove the adhesive from anything. But what you should have done is use a hairdryer to warm up the sticker with the adhesive and then remove it. You’d be able to reapply the sticker after that. I’m pretty sure with repainting your mixer in USA is voiding your limited lifetime warranty (whatever that limited warranty means).

    • @thesimplehomeplace
