This is Messi before they worked out a few kinks. Aimar is one of my all time favourite players, I remember watching him playing for Valencia and he gave me the same feeling as Messi, he was smooth on the ball, his acceleration and ball control was the blueprint for Messi. People need to watch more of Aimar, he was Messi's idol and a maestro, there are so many similarities between the two.
It's a criminal offense, that aimar , tervez and Messi never played 90 mins as a front 3, Perkerman should be in jail for what he did in the 2006 world cup , watch the last 10 mins plus extra time when all 3 were on the pitch against Mexico , or the last 21 mins in the Copa America final against Brazil ,
Perkerman and maradona were the biggest coaching mistakes argentina made in the last 19 years .

As a Benfica fan, seeing such a genius playing for my club, was a pure joy! One of the best ever to have played the game! Unforgettable!
He always looked as though he was just having a knock about in the park, had a very easy style where he seem to just glide around the pitch. It wasn't just what he could do with the ball, it was as if he could see about 5 passes ahead, he had the ability to craft some of the most intricate passing exchanges you'll see in football. He really played the beautiful game. If it weren't for the injuries we'd been talking about Aimar a lot more.

Yes I agree with your opinion. Roberto Baggio, Ronaldinho, Michael Laudrup, Zinadine Zidane, Paulo Futre, Kaká, Rui Costa, Rivaldo, Thierry Henry, Ronaldo Fenomeno, are examples of players who are superior to this generation of football.

Totally agree with that. Could go back further than the 90’s where you had others such as Maradona, Cruyff, Eusebio, Jairzinho and so many many more. Football as always has been about winning but how you win is very important too as the sport is also about entertainment.

Aimar is so underrated
Unfortunately his knee's injuries didn't allowed him to deliver more for longer. And, to be fair, playing for Benfica and with the help of the medical department, he still managed to make a resurgence and deliver some magic-quality football for a few more seasons. It is really sad that he often gets overlooked.
Massive Underrated. But I will never forget Pablito Aimar, idol, I learn many skills/techniques when I was playing at highschool by watching every match.

He was an extraordinary dribbler, a great playmaker, a joy to watch, but he recieved so much punishments in late tackles, that cause a lot of injuries in his mid 20's. Messi had the same style in another level, becuase he avoided the tackles too.

A Player with Great Footballing Brain , Skillset , Knowledge & what not & everything that you'd need in a football player at a great level but for some reason he didn't get the fame & trophies he deserved. Injuries during crucial times hindered him but what a joy he was to see play in his mood. There's a Reason i consider Messi above others , leaving goals aside. I just don't get how that Man is playing with Tackles like that in each game. Beyond normal person's body levels.
