The Lobster War is a classic tale of how a dispute can escalate beyond reason, particularly when the pride of nationalism is put to the test. Originating from a dispute over Spiny Lobster fishing rights, this disagreement highlighted the lack of adequate international agreements on the territorial waters and fishing rights of a nation as the events took place two decades before the signing of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. In the 1960's, French fishing vessels traveled to the Brazilian coast to harvest lobster, igniting an international debate on the legality of this which hinged on the answer to a single question: can a lobster be considered a fish? Brazil argued that because lobster crawl along the ocean floor, they are considered an economic resource apart of their continental shelf. The French, for their part, argued that lobsters "swim" as they hop along the ocean floor, making them essentially a fish that can be caught by any country's vessel. The eventual peaceful resolution of this conflict led to the extension of Brazil's territorial waters to a 200-nautical-mile zone, setting the basis for exclusive economic zones of the same length that would come in the following decades. - Komedie

But some places might refer to them as lobster trappers. In any case, it was more of a joke question and certainly a biologist would make a distinction even if many types of seafood might be referred to as fish colloquially.
Well, in the EU trade regulations snails are treated as fish. Everything can be fish if it let’s you make money 😎

Here in Norway, we have a Supreme Court case about snow crabs, and whether they're a sedentary species or not. Basically if they live in the ocean, or if they live on the ocean floor.
It's regarded as one of the most important supreme court cases in modern Norwegian legal history, illustrated by the fact that the hearing was attended by all SC judges, instead of the usual five SC judges in an ordinary SC hearing.
The reason for its importance is because it deals with the Svalbard Treaty, which gives Norway sovereignty over Svalbard with the condition that any other treaty party (country) can conduct activities there on equal terms as Norway. This case decided whether this condition of equal terms also applies to the resources in the continental shelf, including oil and minerals. If the snow crab is a sedentary species, the court would have to give an interpretation of the Svalbard Treaty. If snow crab isn't, then the court could leave the question of who has the rights to the continental shelf ambiguous

Fun Fact:
Before the 1920's lobster was considered so low class that it was seen as only fit for prisoners.
There's actually court records of class action lawsuits brought by prisoners in massachusetts and maine against the respective departments of correction in those states in which the main complaint was that the prisoners were sick of being served lobster all the time.
Yeah but that was mainly to do with the fact that they were served with pieces of shell smashed into it. Because they didnt care enough to put in the work to extract the meat properly

France joined the EU and NATO but constantly bickered with their NATO allies and often went ahead and did their own thing and were pretty mistrustful of the US. The US and other NATO members during the Cold War focused more on integration of their forces and producing complementary equipment whereas France, especially under DeGaulle, focused more on their own military and producing most of their own gear and their nuclear policy was pretty divergent with the rest of NATO. They even essentially left NATO withdrawing from the command structure because they feel France is special and shouldnt be beholden to any of their allies; they want the protection that NATO provides but dont want to have to actually put in the work that NATO demands if they dont want to.
indeed, it's amazing to think he stood against nazi germany, in retrospect he would have made a great ally of it. Lucky for france he wasn't in office to control foreign policy when the war began.

What's even more dumb is that not so long ago, lobster was considered some worthless junk that gets caught up in nets. My grandfather used to spread ground up lobster on his garden (in like... the 40s I think), and the Canadian province of New Brunswick used to have a law stating that feeding lobster to prisoners more than twice a week was "a cruel and unusual punishment"
